Back in Time: Unshackling From Love (Mikayla Davidson)

Chapter 253

Chapter 253

Mikayla didn’t expect to meet her parents–in–law again before the divorce.

“If you’re too tired, forget it. I’ll tell him you’re resting.” Jerome calmly said.

“I’ll get changed and come down later,” Mikayla reluctantly agreed.

Jerome didn’t refuse her and went downstairs first.

Mikayla removed her makeup, changed into a decent dress, and went downstairs.

Zachary had already arrived and was sitting at the sofa In the living room. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

He seemed to be in his 50s and was wearing a sult.

He looked slightly more robust than Jerome and had a stern expression that made him appear distant, making it difficult for people to approach him.

“You’re here.” Jerome saw her and got up to greet her.

Meanwhile, Zachary glanced at her.

“Hello, Dad.” Mikayla smiled politely and greeted him.

Zachary replied, “Hmm.”

He then took his teacup and drank his tea.

Mikayla felt a little awkward.

She could win the hearts of Edward and Wanda easily but she couldn’t get close to Zachary. He was too stern.

Jerome tugged her over and sat down on the sofa. He whispered, “Don’t be nervous, it’s okay.”

Mikayla didn’t push him away. Instead, she decided to listen and sat down with him.

“Were you out of town these past two days?” Zachary asked.

Mikayla nodded. “I accompanied Grandpa to visit an old friend.”

“You

had no idea I was coming back?” Zachary asked again.

“Dad, your return is not a big deal/ What does it have to do with Mikayla?” Jerome spoke before Mikayla

could.

Zachary glanced at Jerome coldly. “Did I ask you? When did you become so rude?”

Jerome remained indifferent/and didn’t retort despite being scolded by Zachary,

It felt somewhat strange to Mikayla..

She had been married to Jerome for some time.

Although it was her first formal meeting with Zachary, he had always been indifferent to her before Why did he suddenly seem to dislike her now?

The Davidson family wasn’t as prestigious as the Miller family.

Considering Jerome’s status, he could find someone better. It was normal for Zachary not to like her.

Mikayis didn’t dwell on it any further.

Amy came over and informed them that dinner was ready.

Jerome took Mikayla’s hand and wanted to leave to the dining room

Mikayla didn’t want to be criticized again, so she politely said, “Dad, you can go first.”

Zachary kept quiet and went to the dining room.

The meal took place in silence.

Mikayla had already eaten her fill earlier, so she just sat there casually and drank some soup.

“Has no one ever taught you table manners?” Zachary asked coldly.

Mikayla was stunned when she realized that Zachary was talking about her.

She had learned dining etiquette before. But since she was at home, she didn’t pay much attention to it.

Jerome interjected again, saying, “Dad, please be sensible. We’re just having a meal here as a family. There’s no need to talk about manners.”

“Nonsense!” Zachary suddenly put down his fork. “Jerome, it seemed that you’ve had too much freedom. So much so that you’ve forgotten your place!”

Mikayla had always heard from Wanda that Zachary had been very strict and harsh on Jerome since he was young. The meeting today proved it.

Jerome wasn’t intimidated.

Instead, he said calmly, “Are you here today to have a meal with your son and daughter–in–law, or are you here to lecture us? If it’s the latter, we don’t need it here.”

“I’m sorry.” Mikayla didn’t want them to fight because of her. She apologized and sat up straight.

“Dad, we’re done eating. You can take your time enjoying your food,” Jerome said.

He held Mikayla’s hand and went upstairs.
