As pain shot through her, Joy cried out, "What are you doing? Don't be rash!"

Devin yanked Joy's hair without a hint of gentleness, her scalp stinging sharply, her screams slicing through the air.

"Don't try any tricks with me," Devin's voice was icy and cutting. "You're ruthless, cold-hearted. You even poisoned your lifelong friend, Sarah. Why should I trust you?"

Tears from the pain blurred Joy's vision. She hadn't expected Devin to be this wary; she had seriously underestimated him...

Clenching her jaw, she asked, "What will it take for you to trust me?"

Then he positioned a camera right in front of Joy, angling it to capture her face. Joy's stomach dropped. "What do you plan to do?"

"I need something over you," Devin stated bluntly, "to make sure you don't backstab me. Spill how you killed Sarah, and you're free to go."

"Relax. Once I get the cash and leave safely, this recording gets destroyed. We'll be square."

Joy pressed her lips together, obviously reluctant.

The whole Sarah affair had been flawless, leaving Joy unscathed. She couldn't willingly give away such damning evidence.

If anyone discovered her role in Sarah's death, she'd be done for.

Ethan wouldn't let her off the hook, nor would Blake.

Even her brother couldn't shield her.

Joy gritted her teeth. "I can give you money right now. Name your price, and I'l transfer it immediately. Isn't that proof of my sincerity?"

Devin chuckled. "I'm afraid if I take your money, I won't live to spend it."

"Are you going to talk or not? If not... we're both going down!"

"With a beautiful companion like you on the road to hell, it'd be worth it."

As he spoke, Devin moved toward Joy with a knife, its blade gleaming ominously in the light.

Facing death, no one could stay calm.

Hesitantly, Joy began to recount the events, her voice shaky and deliberate.

When she finished, Joy looked at Devin with tear-filled eyes. "I've done what you asked. Will you let me go

He pocketed the phone and untied Joy.

"Devin, could you get me a glass of warm water? I'm out of strength."

Devin, suspecting nothing, reviewed the video on his phone as he headed towards the bar.
