Chapter 278
After hearing Sara's command, Louis fixed Matthew with a scornful glare. "So, you're the chauffeur?"
As someone from the top martial artist family in Lambda City, Louis had an inflated sense of superiority. He dismissed even other martial artists from lesser families as beneath him. To him, a mere chauffeur wasn't worth his attention. Matthew met Louis' gaze with icy calm. As a martial artist, he typically adhered to an unspoken rule of not engaging with ordinary people unless provoked. But Louis had broken that rule, using brutal methods and severely injuring several people. He said, "Do you even realize what you're doing? Barging in here in broad daylight and injuring people? This is a straight-up criminal."
Louis' contempt grew. "What's wrong? Are you afraid?"
Matthew responded coldly, "It's not about fear. Everyone needs to adhere to some rules."
Louis suddenly burst into laughter. "Rules? Ha! Rules are set by the powerful to keep the weak in check. They're made for people like you-what do they have to do with me?"
Matthew's eyes glinted with a cold, sharp intensity. "You consider yourself a strongman? I've never heard of you."noveldrama
Louis shook his head slightly. He realized Matthew was indeed just a chauffeur-narrow-minded and ignorant. He sneered and said, "That's because you're not worthy of knowing. I'm from the Evans family in Lambda City. "Even if I told you, you wouldn't understand. It's not just you. Even your boss can't break into the real circle of power. Hand over Silas, and I might let you go. Otherwise, you'll end up like those guys downstairs."
He knew his real target was Silas. His brutal treatment of the guards was meant to intimidate them. Now that he was face-to-face with Matthew, he was focused on his goal.
Matthew responded coldly, "I won't hand over Silas. Even if you let me go, I won't let you off the hook."
Louis laughed as if he had heard the most ridiculous joke. "You won't let me go? Ha! You're like an ant, daring to talk big. Today, I'll show you what a real powerhouse looks like." As he spoke, he walked toward Matthew.
Upon seeing that, the three bodyguards stepped aside to clear the way for Matthew to face Louis.
Rachel watched Louis with mounting anxiety as she gripped her clothes tightly. Her knuckles turned white, showing how much she was straining.
Eager for her moment of vengeance, Sara shouted at Louis, "Don't hold back. Make it as brutal as possible. I want him to understand the consequences of crossing me." Louis turned around and gave an "okay" before bringing his right hand up with his two fingers together. This was the Evans family's signature move, the Fatal Strike. The two fingers were like a sword that could pierce through the opponent's chest. This deadly technique had cemented the Evans family's dominance in Lambda City.
With a bloodthirsty grin on his face,
Louis approached Matthew. "Hey, chauffeur! The world is big, but you're stuck at the bottom and can't even recognize true strength. Today, I'll expand your view and show you what a real martial artist looks like."
He charged forward as he spoke. His Fatal Strike jabbed toward Matthew's chest like a sword. Just as it was about to pierce through, it suddenly stopped.
Louis stared in shock at the large
hand gripping his Fatal Strike. His move was lightning-fast and deadly, nearly impossible to see, let alone block. Yet, Matthew had caught it effortlessly.
Louis yanked with all his might, but Matthew's grip didn't budge. Enraged, he roared, "Let go, damn it."
Matthew's eyes flashed with a cold light as he twisted his hand with brutal strength. Two fingers snapped with a sickening crack, the broken bones puncturing the skin and blood gushing out. Louis let out a harrowing scream, "My Fatal Strike! How dare you break it? I'll kill you for this!"
