The phone rang. Steven reached for the phone and glanced at the caller ID. It was Jessica.

With his eyes shut, Steven asked weakly, "Do you need something from me?"

"Of course. You're not doing too well lately, aren't you? You're the father of my child. I just wanted to know how you're doing. Are you okay?" Jessica asked.

Jessica had been thinking about everything that had happened between her and Steven. Before that, Jessica believed that Steven actually loved Annalise. But after thinking back, Jessica realized Steven's change was too sudden.

When Steven was still married to Annalise, he would work during the day and take Zachary to Jessica's house after work. They would stay at Jessica's house until the late hours of the night. Even after he got home, he would call Jessica and spend a long time talking over the phone.

But everything changed after he divorced Annalise.

Steven, who used to be reluctant to spend any time with Annalise, suddenly realized how Annalise loved him and began to distance himself from Jessica.

Having an idea of how she can deal with Steven, Jessica's lips curled. She said, "This makes me feel very insecure When you were angry, you abandoned Zachary. Would it be possible that one day, you might also abandon me and the baby?"

Steven was taken aback. He never considered that before.

Jessica continued, "What's going to happen to me and the baby? Must I find another man to support us?
