A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust

Chapter 653

After Calliope hit send on her message, she looked up-and there, coming toward her, was Ulysses Jewell.

The very second she glanced up, Ulysses spotted her too.

His brows knit together in a scowl. He didn't look happy at all as he strode straight over to her, dragging along a stack of suitcases, clearly loaded with way too much luggage.

"When did you get here? You came to pick me up and didn't even bother to give me a heads up?” Ulysses grumbled, clearly annoyed.

"If I'd known you were coming, I wouldn't have called an Uber. It's already on its way, you know!"

He shoved one of the suitcases toward her. "Come on, Calliope, help me with my bags!"

The way he said it, it honestly sounded more like a command than a request, and his tone was enough to make anyone bristle.

Calliope frowned back at him. "I'm not here to pick you up. Did I ever say I was coming to get you?"

She had no clue Ulysses was flying back today. What were the odds they'd run into each other like this?

Ulysses let out a short, cold laugh. "So you're saying you're not here for me? Then what, you just hang around airports for fun?"

He looked at her like she was being ridiculous. Of course she was here for him, he seemed to think. Was it so humiliating to admit she'd come to meet her brother? And hey, he was pretty famous these days, wasn't he? Shouldn't she feel lucky to have a brother like him?

But here she was, acting all distant, as if she barely knew him.

"I'm here to pick someone up," Calliope shot back, "but it isn't you. Is that so hard to believe?"

"The person I'm waiting for hasn't landed yet, that's all," she added.

Ulysses scoffed. "So who are you here for, then? Or are you just mad because I asked you to help with my bags? Seriously, is it such a big deal?

I'm your brother, you know. What's so wrong with helping out?"

He rolled his eyes. "Lisette would never act like this. If she were here, she'd already be grabbing my bags before I even asked. But you

I You're

just impossible!"

He shot her a look full of disappointment. Honestly, he thought Lisette was way

more adorable-at least she was helpful and cheerful about it.

Calliope, on the other hand, always had an excuse.

Now that she was running the family company, she probably thought she was too important for "little" things like this.

With a tight frown, Ulysses pushed

the suitcases even closer to her. "Even if you're not here for me,¶m still your brother. So yeah, you can help me. Take these out to the curb."

Calliope eyed the suitcases, unimpressed. She had zero intention of touching them.

"I'm busy. Carry them yourself."

Ulysses' patience snapped. "Really, Calliope? You're going to make a scene in front of everyone? Do you want people to see what kind of little sister you are?"

Suddenly, a cold voice called out from behind them. "And what kind of brother are you, exactly?"

Ulysses whipped around and found himself face to face with Julius.

Julius' eyes were icy, full of clear disapproval.

"Is she your sister?" Julius shot back. "That's funny. I always thought she was mine."

"Callie, here's your coffee." Julius handed Calliope a steaming cup.

"Thanks," Calliope said, a warm smile lighting up her face as she looked at Julius. The way she gazed at him, it was obvious that she really did like having him around noveldrama
