Chapter 6 Ointments
A fiery, intense pain surged in an instant, and the woman’s dress was soaked as well.
“Oh, I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to!” Shannon covered her mouth, her eyes turning red with a choked-up voice full of grievance, as if she was the one who had been burned!
“Ranita, you’re so careless! If you had burned Shannon’s delicate skin, you’d see how my brother and I would deal with you!” Holly raised her eyebrows and joined in, scolding Ranita.
“Don’t blame Ranita, it was my fault! The hot water was just too hot and my fingers are all red now…” Shannon weakly presented her fingers to Brendon, sniffling with a hint of tears in her eyes.
“Bro, you need to take Shannon to the hospital quickly…”
Everyone gathered around Shannon. Ranita lowered her gaze and a bitter smile crossed her lips. She quietly went to the restroom outside of the private room.
The temperature of the hot water was not low, and the skin that had been scalded had turned red. She carefully dampened a tissue and applied it to the affected area, hoping to alleviate the pain.
Just then, Shannon’s voice suddenly sounded from behind, “Ranita!”
Ranita turned around and found that Shannon had somehow positioned herself behind her, pouring a glass of cold water over her head.
The water was icy cold, and as it poured down on Ranita’s head, it trickled down her cheeks and soaked through her clothes. The sound of the drops hitting the ground echoed in her ears, and she felt a chill run through her heart.
“Ranita, this glass of water is a gift for you to celebrate the three years you’ve monopolized Brendon!” Shannon casually threw the cup into the trash can, making a cracking sound.
Ranita’s heart also cracked a few fissures.
“Also, Brendon gave you face by not immediately kicking you out of the family. But I hope you have some self-awareness and pack up your things to leave as soon as possible.”
Shannon departed with pride.
Ranita was caught off guard when she was suddenly drenched with icy water. It took her a moment to come to her senses, but by the time she did, the person responsible had already walked away.
Ranita smiled bitterly and didn’t expect Shannon to have such a personality. Did Brendon like rude person?
Actually, Ranita didn’t need to be urged by Brendon. She will move out as soon as possible. Her marriage with Brendon had ended and she should face reality soberly.
Ranita quickly tidied herself up and asked a waiter for a hair dryer to dry her clothes. However, her makeup was smudged, making her look a bit disheveled.
When Ranita returned to the private room, there was no one inside. She didn’t see any familiar figures and felt empty in her heart, but also as if she had breathed a sigh of relief.
Her current appearance was really disheveled. She didn’t want Brendon to see it.
Without a chance to protest, Ranita was pulled into the car by Brendon as soon as she left the hotel. He placed a burn ointment in her hand and the man’s voice in the car sounded cold, “Apply it on the wound.”
As the words fell, Ranita heard the man apologize in a low voice, “Sorry, my mom has a bad temper. If she calls you again, don’t come.”
Ranita hung her head and felt her heart sink.
“Okay, I’ll handle it…,” she started to say but suddenly noticed Brendon’s hand resting on her short skirt. He lifted it up and frowned at the blisters on her skin. “Even if it’s blistered, you act like it’s not a big deal?”
The hot water had left blisters all over her skin that looked painful just to look at.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
But if she wanted to apply ointment in front of Brendon, she would have to lift up her skirt. The thought alone made Ranita’s face flush red with embarrassment.
“Thank you for the ointment but it’s not convenient here. I’ll use it when I get home,” said Ranita as she held onto the tube of ointment tightly. She immediately heard Brendon’s low voice saying, “Give me the ointment and let me help you apply it.”
Brendon took away the tube of ointment and used his cool fingertips to rub gently against Ranita’s injured leg where he applied some of its contents which brought immediate relief from pain.
However, as he rubbed against an area near her inner thigh, there were sensitive nerves that caused shivers down Ranita’s spine due to his touch. Her ears turned red while tensing up with a straight back and legs clamped around his hand.
His warm hands had touched countless times over every inch of skin on hers before this moment.
Ambiguity arose out of nowhere between them.
