Chapter 138 Same Old Tricks
"Yes, I once worried and feared that Benson didn't love me. I've experienced all the insecurities that come with love, but none of them ever crossed my bottom line. You told me to use my body and look to win him back-I won't.
"My body will change, and I won't stay young and beautiful forever. Relying on these things won't keep a man's heart. If I love, I want it to be with a man who loves and respects me just the same. Benson and I once truly cared for each other, but he crossed my bottom line. So, I've completely cut him out of my life.
"Sophie, you've never really understood what I meant. You can be with Benson, but only if you both genuinely love each other. But ask yourself does he really like you? Do you really like him with all your heart, without any hidden motives?"
Her question left Sophie frozen in place, a flicker of guilt in her eyes as she clenched her fists.
"You're the daughter of a wealthy family, born with privilege and blessed with good looks. How could someone like you ever understand the hardships of my life?"
Sophie spoke with self-mockery, her eyes filled with resentment.
Sierra watched her expression, frowning slightly before speaking. "No matter how hard life gets, I would never harm others. What goes around comes around- remember that."
"I don't believe that. I only believe in myself. I'll do whatever it takes to get what I want," she murmured under her breath, her eyes glinting with an unsettling intensity.
"Do as I said. I want to see the proposal in three days."noveldrama
"Okay."
Benson's voice came from outside.
Sophie's expression suddenly changed to her usual pitiful demeanor. She suddenly fell to her knees before Sierra, slapping her own face repeatedly.
The speed of this change in attitude left Sierra somewhat astonished. A hint of disappointment flickered in her eyes. Some people truly never changed.
Benson had entered the office with a smile. But his smile vanished instantly upon seeing Sophie kneeling and slapping herself. His face turned serious; he quickly approached her, his voice stern. "Sophie, what are you doing?"
Though he was addressing Sophie, his eyes were fixed on Sierra.
Sophie's body trembled as she looked up at him, tears brimming in her eyes, her voice thick with a sob "Benson, Sierra hasn't forgiven me for slapping her that day. She's making me slap myself fifty times... but it's fine! As long as she can forgive me and get back with you, Benson, I'd gladly do it, even if it means ruining my face."
"She was at it again," Sierra muttered to herself, her eyes betraying traces of impatience.
It was the same old trick-didn't she ever try something new?
But strangely enough, this trick was still the most effective.
Sure enough, Benson's expression changed immediately. He quickly stopped Sophie from slapping herself again and helped her up. Then, he turned to Sierra with anger. "Cee, Uncle Theo already punished Sophie at the hotel that day. Her face was nearly ruined, and she had to stay in the hospital for a week to recover. Why can't you just let her go?"
Sierra raised her eyes, meeting his angry gaze, and replied coolly, "She's the one who won't let it go. I didn't ask her to be on her knees, and I certainly didn't tell her to slap herself."
Her expression remained calm, her eyes clear and unwavering.
Benson felt a surge of doubt, turning to look at Sophie beside him.
What do you think?
