EPISODE THIRTY-THREE
THEME: She is lucky
(Avery’s Point Of View)
I felt a hand on my forehead, a gentle contact. It was so warm and gentle. I felt a sharp pain in my head until it circulated through my whole system.
Soon the touch that provided warmth and comfort was gone. And it stated all over again-the excruciating pain which my wolf was trying to fight against but she failed. My whole body was on fire and every part of my body ached badly. I could feel the heat emanating from my wolf to beat coldness, the soreness and burning and deep bone aches.
Then my body started shaking. It was a convulsive shivering as my weak wolf was trying too hard and it was affecting my human body.
“Get the theta! She is convulsing again!” I heard an unfamiliar voice but it was soft and soothing in my ears.
“Please step aside and let me attend to her. Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.” A sweet melodious voice said more politely.
I couldn’t open my eyes to see what’s going at the moment and the voices in my head echoed like I was already losing my sense of hearing. Soon I felt something against my lips, it was a cold liquid and I choked on it but it managed to run down my throat.
The shaking didn’t stop. “We need her mate. If only we could find him.” The melodiously voice said again.
“How the hell do you expect me to know her mate?! How do I find him?! What if she doesn’t even have one?!” The masculine voice snarled.
Mate? Where am I? Do I have a mate? A strong arms gathered me until my head was resting on a solid surface and I was being held tightly as if to keep me steady.
“Get the healer!” The masculine voice said in a commanding tone.
Footstep! Footsteps! More footsteps! The sounds was so strong in my head. I winced in pain still shaking for no reason I could explain.
“You’ll be fine. Please try to fight death.. stay alive.” A voice whispered into my mind. It was as if someone was sending me a telepathic message.
I tried to sniff the scent of the person holding me and it seemed to entice my nostrils. I snuggled closely though subconsciously and the shivering lessened.
Slowly my body began to relax just by the scent and comfort these arms were offering to my wolf and I. I kept hearing comforting words until I felt my wolf’s consciousness slipping away. No, I wanted to stay awake even though my eyes were too weary to be opened or my mouth to even speak.
“She’ll be fine.” The voice whispered.
Light graze on my forehead, the touch was gone and I couldn’t fight tumbling back into the comfort of sleep.

Once again, I felt myself waking up. My vision was blurry and I couldn’t make out anything. Darkness-that’s what my eyes could picture in my head. I blinked, panic almost setting in when I found it hard to even move my hand.
My eyes flare opened, I panic even more because I don’t know where I am or what had happened to me. For a minute, I tried to remember but I soon winced in pain at the slight ache in my head.
I closed my eyes for a moment and lay very still as I tried to remember again but the pain resurfaced again even harder this time. I was on a bed, I know because it was soft and warm. I reopened my eyes to focus but nothing came to my mind.
“Are you awake?” A deep baritone asked.
Slowly I turned my head towards the voice. I looked beyond and my breath caught at the figure I saw there. A stranger because I couldn’t remember ever seeing him. He sat on a single couch about two feet away from the bed with his legs crossed and his eyes bored into mine.
“Who.. who are you?” I asked unsteadily.
“You are awake.” He said softly.
“Where.. am.. I?” I mumbled.
He stood up from the couch. I heard a click sound and the lights came on and the room shined brightly. I closed my eyes immediately due to the brightness.
“Sorry about that but you can open your eyes and let it adjust to the brightness.” He said.
I opened my eyes and my breathe caught again seeing him closer to the bed. I noticed white walls. This man was the definition of good looks. A side parted black hair, slender eyebrows, shiny green eyes, pointed nose and thin lips. He has a well built physique that would fit into any corporate outfit. His rock hard muscles showed that he must be a well trained warrior wolf.
A wolf? I furrowed my eyebrows as my eyes took in his features. “Who are you? And where am I? Where is this place?” I questioned frantically with my eyes scanning the room.
“You are at an infirmary in Dark Wood Pack.” The stranger answered.
My head turned towards the beeping sound and I saw a machine with some lines of different colors on it. A tall steel stand was next to the bed and a drip bag attached to it. I lifted my hand to see something connected to my skin and a plaster on it. I groaned at the sharp movement. “It is better you stay still.” He cautioned.
“How can I stay still when.. I don’t know what’s going on?” I muttered.
He stretched out one of his hand to touch my forehead. “I’ll get the doctor.” And before I could call out to him, he was long gone.
He didn’t tell me about himself. All I could see was the sorrows in his eyes. The door opened again and a woman on lap coat came to the bed.
“How do you feel?” A smile of relief displayed on her face.
“I can’t.. say.. no-” I paused. The doctor waited for my response. “Pain… numbness… that’s how I feel.” I replied.
“I’ll run a quick check on your vitals.” The female doctor bend over to check me.
“How is she?” The stranger asked after some seconds of total silence.
“She’s lucky. Her pulse is strong, a bit fast and she seems to be breathing well.” The doctor placed a hand on my forehead. “Her temperature is normal and her color is better now.” She answered.
“Good.” He murmured.
“Miss, can you see us properly?” The female doctor asked putting a finger up.
“One finger.” I answered.
The doctor went on to raise more of her fingers until she got to ten fingers and I got all the addition and subtraction tests too.
“She is doing good.” The female doctor said with a bright smile on her face.
