After concluding their discussion with Dr. Gomez, Ethan and Hazel made their way back to Daisy’s
ward. The weight of the doctor’s words lingered in the air, and Hazel couldn’t help but sigh as she
reflected on the situation. “I’m no miracle worker. I may be a specialist, but there is still a chance and
rate of mortality. I would suggest we wait for a few months,” Dr. Gomez had conveyed, and Ethan cast
a glance at Hazel, who sat there calmly, absorbing every word.
Dr. Gomez continued, sharing insights into his experiences, mentioning the youngest age he had
operated on a similar case–a child aged six. He expressed his preference for waiting a few more
weeks, allowing time for preparation, both in terms of Daisy’s physical condition and her overall well–
being. Hazel nodded in understanding. “In the meantime, she’ll remain here at the hospital until the
time of surgery. I and my new team will work to ensure little Daisy is well recovered,” the doctor
assured, offering a small but comforting smile. Another sigh escaped Hazel’s l*ps.
Ethan, sensing Hazel’s emotional state, gently called out to her. “Hey,” he said, offering a reassuring
presence. “She’ll be just fine,” he added, his words meant to provide solace. Hazel nodded,
appreciating the support she found in Ethan’s presence.
The conversation shifted, and Hazel couldn’t help but express her curiosity about how Ethan managed
to locate the doctor and, more impressively, convinced him not just to act as a consultant but to
conduct the surgery himself. Hazel’s eyes glimmered with admiration as they stood together in the
elevator. Ethan downplayed his efforts, stating, “It was nothing, really. I just used my connections a little
bit, though his modesty couldn’t mask the considerable efforts they had undertaken. Tracking down the
doctor all the way to the exhibition and convincing him to come out of retirement, and ensuring his
commitment to the surgery had been no small feat, he wou not only act as a consultant but would be
handling the surgery himself.
As they reached the front of Daisy’s ward, Hazel conveyed her gratitude once more. “Thank you,
Ethan. Honestly,” she sighed, appreciating the lengths he had gone to for Daisy’s sake. “I’m glad I
could be of help. You’re welcome,” Ethan replied. The two of them stood there lingering in a
contemplative silence. “Well, take care then,” Ethan said softly, preparing to leave. “Thank you,” she
responded. However, before Ethan could fully depart, Hazel called out to him halting him in his steps.
“Ethan… Mr. Wild,” she addressed him through the quiet hospital halls. “I’m sorry. about the project’s
delay. I’ll oversee it from next week,” Hazel apologized, burdened by the sense of responsibility for the
delays affecting Tesco’s development and her colleagues at Starlight.
“It’s not your fault, Hazel. Take care of Daisy, and yourself too. You haven’t been

sleeping well, have you?” Ethan inquired, displaying genuine concern. He sighed, recognizing the toll
this situation had taken on Hazel. “Listen, the project would manage fine without you,” Ethan
reassured, meeting Hazel’s eyes. “Just take care.” With those parting words, he turned and walked
away, carrying a sense of unspoken melancholy at having to leave.
Within Ethan, there was an unvoiced sadness. A part of him yearned to spend. more time with Daisy,
that adorable munchkin whose presence had brought him a different kind of joy. Liam, who had been
napping during Ethan’s earlier visit, with the team of doctors was now awake, having heard his mom’s
voice outside the door. He opened the door and peered out curiously when he recognized Ethan’s This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
voice earlier. “Hey, honey,” Hazel called out, but Liam, in his excitement, ran right past her. “Liam?” she
called, her voice echoing down the hallway as her son headed toward the familiar figure ahead.
As Ethan stepped into the elevator, about to press the down button, he spotted the small figure of Liam
rushing toward him eagerly. Ethan paused for a moment, a smile tugging at the corners of his l*ps, and
allowed Liam to dash into the elevator just before the doors closed. Liam, having recognized Ethan’s
back, had acted on pure instinct, an rushed after Ethan, his Mr Woods, forgetting every other thing. “Mr
Wood!” The exuberant sound of Liam’s voice reverberated through the elevator walls as Liam flung
himself at Ethan, embracing his legs with unabashed. joy.
Surprised for a moment, Ethan couldn’t help but feel happy and chuckle at the unexpected warmth of
the greeting. “Liam,” he called softly, still processing the delightful reunion.
“Mr. Woods!” Liam exclaimed again, his laughter echoing with genuine happiness. “I thought it was
you!” The infectious joy radiating from the little boy made. Ethan’s heart swell, prompting him to scoop
Liam up, relishing in the warmth of the small, energetic bundle in his arms. Liam’s scent, a delightful
blend of Hazel’s fragrance and the lingering sweetness of treats, enveloped Ethan like a comforting
cocoon.
“Where have you been, Mr. Woods?” Liam inquired, a playful pout forming on hist expressive face. “I
looked for you all over the other time.” It was a rare display of attachment from a child who usually kept
his distance. Ethan, caught off guard by the genuine warmth of Liam’s welcome, couldn’t help but feel a
surge of affection for the little one.
Meanwhile, Hazel, perturbed by her son’s sudden sprint down the hallway and into the elevator,
entered another one with the intention of finding him. Although not overly worried about his safety
within the confines of the hospital, she couldn’t help but disapprove of his impromptu escapade.
Determined to give. him a stern scolding once she located him, Hazel headed to the down floor,
suspecting that Liam had accompanied Ethan in the elevator.
“I’m sorry. I’ve been really busy,” Ethan explained gently, squatting to Liam’s height. Concern etched on
his face, Liam cupped Ethan’s face with his small

hands, asking, “Are you okay?” Touched by the genuine care, Ethan lifted Liam into his arms, ready to
address the impending questions.

“Shall I introduce myself to you?” Ethan inquired, smiling at the clever boy who would undoubtedly
have inquiries. “My name is Ethan Wild,” he stated, adding with a sigh, “Ethan Wild Wood,” anticipating
confusion over the name change. “So people may call me Mr. Wild, but don’t worry. I’m also Mr. Wood,
he smoothly explained, recognizing the potential difficulty in clarifying the matter to a child. Liam, deep
in thought, stared at Ethan. “Your name is Mr. Wild. Not Mr. Woods, right?” he asked gently. Liam’s
probing continued as he questioned, “You’re the same man from the airport too, aren’t you?” Liam had
thought hard at the resemblance between the two men for a long while and concluded they had to be
the same people.
Ethan, surprised by the astuteness of the child, widened his eyes in shock. “Mummy says I’m a genius.
I’m very smart, so you can’t fool me,” Liam declared, a small frown forming.
Ethan, feeling defeated, sighed and admitted, “I’m sorry.” The disappointment in Liam’s eyes was
palpable. “Is that why you didn’t come visit me again?” Liam’s voice trembled with a mix of sadness
and confusion. He sought an explanation “I waited for you at school everyday.” Liam rubbed his palms
together, expressing the void Ethan’s absence had left.
Ethan’s felt a pang in his heart, a oneness with the boy. He had also missed him. greatly and it had
taken great effort not to match down to his school everyday. “Was it because you know I don’t like the
guy at the airport, and it was you, and you thought I don’t like you?” Liam sought an explanation, his
innocent understanding shining through.
“Yes,” Ethan replied simply, recalling the incident at the airport where Liam had. thought he was picking
on his younger sister Daisy. The complexity of the situation was beyond what a child’s ears could
comprehend. Ethan couldn’t. confess that he had orchestrated the school trip after purchasing their
school. Liam pursed his l*ps at Ethan’s admission. “Do you forgive me?” Ethan asked, hoping for
reconciliation with him.
Liam sighed deeply
“I missed you.” He muttered hugging Ethan once more. Ethan’s heart nearly melted. He k*ssed the little
boy’s forehead and adorable chubby cheeks.
To have the boy love him that much felt like he had won a in life. Nothing else. mattered at that time.
Then Liam responded a resounding “Yes,” while lightly touching Ethan’s face..
“Can it be our little secret?” Ethan proposed; Hazel would raise hell if she found out he had visited her
kids school. Liam after a moment of contemplation, his finger on his Chin with a contemplative serious
look agreed.
