CHAPTER 19
Roll Out The Red Carpet
Austyn came home to find Kira waiting for him.
She was sitting on the front stoop, knees drawn up, chin on palms,
Austyn shut off the engine but remained in the car.
Like a commander doing recon before battle, he assessed the situation.
To have her sitting out here at such a late hour was a blue moon event. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
Something was definitely up.
His suspicions were confirmed by what happened next
He opened the car door but before his shoes touched the ground, Kira had rushed over.
If she had a tail, it would be doing a helicopter wag.
"Honey, welcome back! Have you eaten? I bet you haven't. You must be famished. Please come in."
Her dimples grew more pronounced with that smile, which was sweet enough to eat pancakes with. Honey?
Austyn's eyebrows shot up.
Finding himself in unfamiliar territory, he remained silent to gather more intel.
"Here, let me get that for you. Kira took the heavy briefcase from Austyn and set it on a table near the
front door.
She scurried to the shoe cabinet and trotted back with a pair of slippers.
Squatting down, she placed them in front of Austyn and looked up at him with the same megawatt smile. Honey, let's get you out of those loafers. You must've had a long day. Dinner's warmed up and ready for you.
She was beaming brighter than the chandelier,
Austyn blurted out, 'Is there something you want from me?"
'Sharp as a tack!' Kira thought. "He saw right through me."
'Honey,' Kira upped the wattage. "Why would you think that? Elsie and I got to chatting. She told me how packed your schedule is. I realised I've not done my part to take care of my husband. That's not very wifely of me. I'm just trying to make it up to you." "Oh? So you're not trying to butter me up for a favour?"
'Of course not!'
