Chapter 8

Beverly Dante

I looked out to the window to see Clyde and his family talking, laughing and still hugging each other. I found myself a little bit envious that he still has a family to be with. I sighed and sat down on the sofa closing my eyes to take a rest for a while.

I did pretend to be bitchy and a little bit annoying earlier but I can’t fully act. I know they’re nice people and I just can’t fully act. I know it from the start. They’re so nice and warming. I found myself looking at the ground blankly.

Suddenly Clyde entered the room again and sat beside me.

“You did a great job, they asked me why I picked you as a fiance?” Clyde said excitingly.

“Of course, I’m a good actress. Lucky you… you got an act from me free.” I smiled widely. I hate showing myself to other people that I don’t know. I can bluntly tell everything to Becca but not Clyde.

“Yeah, I got it because I caught you turning into different girls every time.” He smirked and I chuckled.

“So what do I do now?” I asked.

“Keep your act, I love it. I mean we’re going to stay here for a year.” He said and I nodded lightly.

“They want you to break up with me huh?” I asked.

“No… they didn’t say that.” He said and I turned to see our bed. It’s not a king sized bed and it’s not a single bed either and how are we going to sleep?

“You sleep on the floor… or on the sofa. I’ll take the bed.” I said to him and he shook his head.

“You’re sleeping here, I will sleep there.” He pointed at the sofa and since I’m not in the mood to argue. I just agree with him. I walked to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I need a lot of sleep.

I walked back into the room and gestured him to get up from the sofa. He got off the sofa and sat on the bed. I took one of the blankets and lay my body on it.

I looked at my ring finger and the ring that Clyde gave me is so beautiful. I looked at it again and again until I became sleepy. I went to dreamland right away.

I woke up because Clyde poked my arm. My eyes slowly opened and got up slowly.

“Let’s go eat breakfast.” He said and I nodded. He held my arm and helped me get up.

“Wait… I need to brush my teeth and wash my face.”

“No need, just get out like this.” He said as he dragged me outside. I held his hand naturally without feeling anything and we walked downstairs hand in hand. I rubbed my eyes and they all looked at us with a smile.

“Come here… sit here.” Grandma took my hand and she pointed me to sit beside her. I sat down and looked at all the food in the table.

“What do you like to eat for breakfast?”Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“I never eat breakfast.”

“She always skips it. She hates it because it will make her gain weight.” Clyde said and I nodded lightly even though that’s not the real reason.

“If you eat healthy, you won’t gain weight.”

“Okay, Mrs. Dan- I mean grandma.” I smiled. She started to scoop me a big pile of salad and gave me a lot of eggs.

“Thankyou, this is too much… I will gain weight later on.” I stopped grandma from giving me more and more. The truth is that… I always want to eat breakfast but I’ve been busy and since I was a kid… I always skip it because my parents never cared about me.

I looked at the food blankly and suddenly Clyde held my hand.

“Honey… Eat… it’s good for you.” Clyde said as he squeezed my hand. I nodded lightly. I began to eat the salad first and it’s so good. I kept eating and eating it until I’m finish with my food. I looked the other food again and Clyde stopped me.

“Honey… you will gain weight.” He said and I turned to him. I nodded lightly.

“Nonsense! If she wants to eat, let her eat!” Grandma said and I turned to her smiling.

“No… I’m okay grandma.” I said and she looked at me worried. I pushed away Clyde’s hand and drank a lot of water. I looked at Clyde’s parents and grandma who kept talking about things, sometimes they asked Clyde and me about the topic but I pretended to be bored.

I excused myself to go outside the house and I walked to the garden. I looked around and it’s really beautiful. They have various plants here.

“You did good.” Clyde said as he stood beside me. I linked my arm around him and leaned my head to his arm.

“We have to stay here for 1 year?”

“Yeah. Why?”

“Nothing.” I said as I caressed his arm.

“You’re a really good actress, no wonder people paid you big.” He said.

“I never thought you’re an architect.”

“You should have told me that you’re an architect, I can tell them that you and I work together.”

“They will hate me more if I’m jobless and how I love your money the most.” I answered and I glanced to the back. I found they’re all looking at us. I slipped my arms around his hip and hugged him. Clyde’s body tense right away because he wasn’t expecting that.

“Your family’s watching.” I looked up to him.

“You’re a really bad actor.” I said and he looked down to me smiling.

“You need to improve that if you want them to believe our relationship.” I said and then I kissed his cheek. I released the hug and walked back inside.

“You and Clyde are so sweet!” Grandma said as she held my hand. I smiled a little and then I excused myself to go upstairs to have take a shower.

I regret signing the contract…
