Rebecca approached Dr. Theo, her hands tightly clenched. She was one hundred. percent sure that Dr. Theo had a hand in falsifying her medical records when she lost her pregnancy because Alicia pushed her from the top of a high staircase.
“You’re Dr. Ronald Theodore, aren’t you? Remember me?” Rebecca greeted coldly. Dr. Theo’s eyes widened, surprised by Rebecca’s sudden appearance. He frowned, “Yeah, you are Mrs. Specter, right?”
Rebecca snorted, “Stop pretending! You can’t have forgotten me, not after what you did to me! How much did Alicia pay you to break your medical oath?” she snapped, her eyes flashing.
Dr. Theo frowned in confusion, “Mrs. Specter, I don’t know what you’re talking about-”
“Becky, we have to go now, please!” Nicholas grabbed Rebecca’s hand, looking at her with a pained expression. Rebecca was faced with a difficult choice: go home with Nicholas or confront Dr. Theo, but Nicholas’s tight grip on her hand made her give in.
“Don’t think you can escape your crime; I will chase you and make you confess everything you’ve done!” Rebecca hissed sharply, knowing Dr. Theo was just pretending to know nothing.
She helped Nicholas walk unsteadily down the corridor and suddenly felt someone watching her. She turned back, following her instincts, and saw Harvey standing in front of Alicia’s room, looking at her with an indescribable expression.
“Becky, my chest hurts,” Nicholas whispered, making Rebecca turn her attention back to him, leaving Harvey gazing at her with a wave of jealousy he had never felt before.
“Where’s your
‘s your car?” Rebecca asked when they were already in the lobby. “In the repair shop. Can you order an Uber for us?” Nicholas replied, leaning against a pillar. Rebecca nodded, “You said your adoptive father is nearby; we could run into him at any moment here. Are you okay with that?” she asked while opening the Uber app.
Nicholas cleared his throat softly, “Um, my informant says they’re still a few minutes away, so I think we have enough time, and don’t ask why I’m avoiding my father; I can’t tell anyone yet.”
Rebecca sensed something odd about Nicholas’s words but chose not to ask. Five minutes later, the Uber she ordered arrived. She helped Nicholas into the car, which
took them to the apartment.

and stared out the window. Her head felt so full it was about to explode. Suddenly, her phone vibrated. She opened it and felt her heart race when she saw Harvey’s name.
‘I can’t watch you walk away from me.”
She almost dropped her phone but managed to catch it again.
“Are you okay?” Nicholas turned to her, surprised.
Rebecca cleared her throat, “Yeah, my hand’s a bit sweaty,” she replied, turning off her phone screen and shoving it into her bag. She didn’t know why, but she chose to keep everything from Nicholas, maybe because she didn’t want to burden him or because she didn’t fully trust him.
As they arrived at Nicholas’s apartment, Rebecca helped Nicholas lie down in his room. “Have you called a doctor or nurse to make sure you’re okay?” she asked, sitting on the edge of his bed.
Nicholas nodded, “Yeah.” He reached out, holding Rebecca’s warm fingers. “Can you stay here for a while? I really need you,” he pleaded, tears welling up in his eyes, making it hard for Rebecca to say no.
“Alright, just until you feel better, okay?” Rebecca responded cautiously.
“Okay. Um, there’s something I need to tell you,” Nicholas said, looking deeply into her
eyes.
Rebecca frowned, “Okay? What is it?”
Nicholas took a deep breath. “What happened to me earlier was no accident,” he said confidently.
“What? I don’t understand-”
“Someone deliberately targeted me. They followed me on a motorcycle from the moment I left the apartment building and tricked me into crashing into a bridge,” Nicholas explained angrily.
Rebecca stared in shock. “Are you sure? But who would want to hurt you? I mean, don’t you not have any enemies?”

Nicholas withdrew his hand from Rebecca and looked up at the ceiling. “I’ve had my people trace the bike, and-”
“And?” Rebecca urged impatiently.
“And it turns out the bike belongs to one of Harvey Specter’s bodyguards. Isn’t that a strange coincidence?”
Rebecca gaped in disbelief. “What? Are you sure? But Harvey I know wouldn’t do something like that. I mean, he might be a jerk, but he’s not a killer,” she rambled uncontrollably.
“Can you stop defending him? For god’s sake, he ditched you in the worst way!” Nicholas snapped, extremely angry, as if jealousy had taken over him.
“Nic! Chill, okay? I’m not defending anyone, I’m just saying what’s on my mind. Alright, have you reported your findings to the authorities?” Rebecca asked calmly, trying hard to control her emotions. Deep down, she was sure Harvey wouldn’t do something so cheap like that.
“Are you kidding me? I’m not letting your ex–husband think I’m afraid of him. I’ll handle this my way,” Nicholas replied without looking at her.

Rebecca was silent for a few moments, then nodded slowly, “If that’s what you think is best.”
“That’s it? My life doesn’t mean anything to you, does it?” Nicholas finally turned to her, looking at her with a strange expression that gave her chills.
“Really? If your life didn’t matter to me, I wouldn’t have come to the hospital when the nurse called me! What is wrong with you?” Rebecca responded, feeling very upset. NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Nicholas stared at her for a moment, his anger slowly subsiding. He sighed deeply, rubbing his temples. “I’m sorry, Becky. I just I’m scared and frustrated. It’s like everything is falling apart, and I don’t have anyone to talk to.”
Rebecca let out a long sigh and nodded.
“I know, I’m sorry too. You need to take your pills and get some rest,” she said, taking the medicine from the nightstand and helping Nicholas with them.
“You’ll be here when I wake up, won’t you?” Nicholas asked, gripping her wrist.
Rebecca nodded, feeling uncomfortable with his grip. “Close your eyes, I’ll be right here,” she said, gently freeing her hand and moving to the sofa near the bed.
Nicholas fell asleep within ten minutes after taking the pills. Just as Rebecca was about to leave the room, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Harvey.
‘Can you come downstairs? I’m in the car right across the building.
Rebecca almost dropped her phone in shock,
