Chapter 54
Fifteen minutes later, Rose stood up from her seat with the question paper in her hand and walked towards where Mr. Hughes was standing and stretched the paper to him. "I'm done." She calmly told him.
Mr. Hughes' eyes widened when he heard her. "A-are you sure? I mean you still have five minutes left, so you can cross check your work again." He said, glancing at the clock, seeing that there was still five minutes left before the one hour deadline he gave Rose to finish the question paper.
"I know that, but I'm done answering the question and I don't need to recheck my answers." Rose replied with an innocent expression on her face. She didn't understand why Mr. Hughes was telling her that she still had more time when she knew that.
'Is this spoiled brat kidding me right now? How can you answer all that question in just fifteen minutes.' Mr. Hughes thought, but he couldn't say anything and just collected the paper from Rose.
"In that case, you can return back to the headmistress office. I will go through your answer and bring the result to the headmistress office." Mr. Hughes said as he walked out of the classroom.
"I'm impressed." The boy said as he led Rose back to the headmistress office. He had a smile on his face and didn't have the same expression he had an hour ago.
Rose raised her head and when she saw his smiling face, she creased a brow at him. 'What is wrong with this kid's expression? Why is he smiling like a stupid idiot all of a sudden?' she eyed him suspiciously.
"What is that supposed to mean?" She asked with an indifferent expression on her face as she stopped in her pace and he did the same.
The boy smiled when he saw Rose's indifferent expression. There are only a handful of people he usually smiles at and Rose was starting to become one of those people.
"I'm impressed with the way you handle the exam back there." He repeated himself again, but the frown on Rose's face didn't disappear.
"What's there to be so impressed about?" She rolled her eyes at him and the next thing she knew, he raised his hand and flicked her forehead.
"Your eyeball would roll out if you do that." He scolded but received a freezing glare from Rose which made him chuckle slightly at her.
"Don't touch me without my permission. My skin is very delicate and it would leave a red mark from your flicking." She grumbled and walked away. 'How dare he?' "You're going the wrong way." He said to Rose who was still walking in front of him.
"Then come and lead the way." She replied without looking back.
He laughed at her before chasing after her.
At that moment, Rose was unaware that she had just her first friend in this school and he would turn out to be more than just to her in the future.
"You're back. Mr. Hughes already
informed me that you're done." Headmistress Moore said,
immediately both Rose and the box entered the office. Before they
arrived, Mr. Hughes had already ne
called and told her everything that happened. She herself couldn't believe that Rose had started
answering the question only twenty minutes before the deadline and upon that she finished five minutes early again.
Rose simply nodded her head and took her seat after headmistress Moore told her that the results would be out in a few minutes.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
A few minutes later, Mr. Hughes finally walked into the office with a file in his hand. He had a completely pale face and the first person he looked at the moment stepped in was none other than Rose who was sitting on the couch.
'Is this kid a witch or something? No, she's definitely a monster.' He thought but his train of thought was disrupted when Headmistress Moore raised her head up from what she was doing. She frowned when she saw the pale expression on his face but chose to ignore it. "Mr. Hughes, you are here. I'm guessing you're done going through the question paper you gave Miss Rose. Is that the result?" She asked, glancing at the file in his hand.
"Ah, yes." Mr. Hughes removed his gaze off Rose and turned to look at Headmistress Moore. He stole one more glance at Rose again before walking towards the Headmistress table and placing the file on her table.
Headmistress Moore continued to stare at his pale face, reaching her hand out to pick the file and opening it. In the next minute her face pale after reading the content, she raised her head up to look at Mr. Hughes.
"Mr. Hughes, are you sure this is the correct result? Did you mix things up?" Not wanting to believe what she just read, she couldn't help but ask.
"No, Headmistress. I even had to call
Mrs. Turner, Mr. Brook and Mr. Diaz, to come and help me out after I marked it and we all got the same results. Mr. Hughes shook his head and replied. The other teachers he had called to help him were one of the best teachers in their time of work.
"This can't be......." Headmistress Moore trailed off as her gaze landed on Rose, who was sitting with a calm expression on her face. Yes, she was aware that Rose was brilliant and smart when she saw her accomplishments but she didn't think that it would be enough to answer all this question. One of the people who managed to solve some of this question was none other than Mr. Anderson who was sitting opposite Rose.
'Why didn't Beatrice tell me that her stepdaughter is a monster? This girl is seriously going to be a problem for Beatrice in the future if she is not careful.' She thought, thinking back to how reassured her friends sounded that Rose wouldn't pass when she called her a few days ago. "Since this is the result, we have to accept it and I trust you teachers did your job properly." Composing herself, she said to Mr. Hughes. She cleared her throat before glancing at Rose again.
"Um..... Miss Rose, the results are out. Please come and check it for yourself." She said,
