The Lna 315
"Moderations?"
"You don't need to squat 15lbs."
"You realize that a healthy workout routine is good for my body and what is good
for my body is good for the baby.
"Yes but you haven't been able to work out in how long? Your body isn't used to it
anymore.
I'm not asking you to not work out but just don't over do it, please?" Ryder looked
back at me, I could only see his eyes but the rawness of his worry was clear.
"Okay, I'll take it easy." I could feel the worry through the bond. "Ryder?"
"Yeah?"
"Can-can we build a house, separate than the pack house that our kids can grow
up in? Like Logan and Penelope get to?" That surprised Ryder. I felt it and I saw
his back straightened as he processed what I asked. "I want to raise our kids thenoveldrama
way my mother wished she could have raised us. We can still keep our room at
the packhouse but I still want an actual house."–
Ryder was silent for awhile. I could feel his mind working but he didn't say
anything for awhile. I was almost at the point that I was going to take it back when
he finally talked. "Okay, sure. We can do that."
"What hesitation? I have money..." I asked.
"It's not about money. I just always thought I'd raise kids in the pack house."
"I mean, we can still do that." My heart sank slightly.
"I just want to make you happy. If living in a different house than the pack house
would make you happy, then we'll do that," Ryder said.
That answer wasn't good enough. It sounded like he was just compromising. I
could hear the reluctance in his voice, and it made my chest tighten. I didn't want
his compromise. I wanted his understanding. I wanted him to be as excited about
our future as I was. Damn it, why couldn't he understand what this meant to me?
"We can discuss this tonight or tomorrow," I said. He didn't argue, but we fell into
silence. It wasn't too awkward, but we were both lost in our own thoughts.
We rode the motorcycle to my shop again, where there were more people than I
expected. Camera crews stood by their vans, making sure equipment was ready.
A red carpet was laid out in front of the door, and there was a podium with a huge
red ribbon and bow.
"Great! You're here!" Ama walked toward us as I got off the bike.
"Have you completely adapted to your new hand?" Ama looked at me in
amazement.
I gave her a big smile. "Yes, thank you, Ama," I replied.
Ama's eyes grew moist, and I stepped forward to hug her. "This is more elaborate
than I imagined," I told her.
"I know, I went all out," Ama said with a brilliant smile on her face, wiping away
her tears. "I also got a lot of help."
"From who?" I asked.
"From me! Penelope and Logan appeared from around the corner. Viola and
Leonard followed them.
"Thank you all for coming!" I gave each of them a hug. It felt so good.
Logan noticed agreement.
my new hand and said in amazement, "Where did you get that prosthetic? It looks
perfect on you. Penelope nodded in
Ama told Ryder the news, and Ryder gave it to me," I smiled and looked at Ryder,
Ryder stepped forward and shook hands with Logan.
"Miss this? No way, we wouldn't miss anything!" Leonard jokingly pushed my
shoulder. Not enough force to move me, but enough to make a joke.
