Falling For The Contract Bride Chapter 71

Chapter 71

Chapter 71 Reminiscing the Good Ole Days

The dimly lit room filled the space with warmth. The violent thunderstorm currently wailing out the window made the room even more inviting.

Lu Jinye slumped on the bed, reading a book. When Mu Zhi opened the door, he raised his eyes to glance at Mu Zhi.

For some reason, his glance made Mu Zhi’s heart thump loudly.

Mu Zhi never thought that she would get another chance to share a bed with Lu Jinye after the divorce.

In the past, she was clear of her role. All she needed to do was to play Lu Jinye’s wife.

But today… Standing here, she realized that she might have fallen in love with Lu Jinye.

To fall for Lu Jinye… Isn’t a big deal in any case.

On the contrary, it’d be weird to not be moved by a brilliant man like him.

Mu Zhi consoled herself with that thought. She pretended like nothing had happened as she approached the other side of the bed and sat on it.

She did not climb onto the bed directly.

Meanwhile, Lu Jinye had his eyes on Mu Zhi since she stepped into the bedroom.

He could feel his manhood calling upon him deep inside. No woman could do that to him.

He was starting to feel that Mu Zhi was different.

“Do I clean the guest room next door so I can sleep in there?”

Mu Zhi hesitated briefly and suggested.

“Since, we’re divorced.”

“So, have you become a coward, afraid of sleeping with me?”

“Ahem.”

Lu Jinye’s question almost made Mu Zhi choke on her saliva. She promptly explained, “Of course not, I’m just afraid of being misunderstood by your new girlfriend, Mr. Lu. I’m just trying to be a decent ex- wife.”

He arched his brows. Mu Zhi’s response intrigued him. C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

He did not express his desires directly. On the contrary, he put up a chivalrous front.

“I haven’t stayed here since you left, so the room might not be as complete as you imagine.”

That meant there might not be a blanket or even bed sheets in the other room.

“Fine.”

Mu Zhi did not sulk. She also did not want Lu Jinye to think of her as a coward. Besides, the shirt she was currently wearing was a little too short for her comfort. She desperately wanted to hide under the cover of a blanket.

Thus, Mu Zhi lied on the bed decisively and put the blanket over her.

They were not too close to each other. There seemed to be an invisible wall splitting the two. But they were close enough to feel the warmth exuded by one another.

They had experienced the touch of each other and the sensation was instilled deep in their subconscious minds.

So, Mu Zhi could sense her body calling her to get some form of contact with Lu Jinye.

She quickly brushed her desire off her mind.

Desperately fighting to control it.

Both of them said nothing.

They were even puzzled at some point. Without exchanging words, where did the desire come from?

Just as Mu Zhi was trying hard to think of a topic, Lu Jinye’s phone went off.

Mu Zhi could see the name displayed on his screen, Xiao Qingqing.

She turned a blind eye to it, while Lu Jinye rose and accepted the call, showing no sign of evading Mu Zhi. He said, “Qingqing, what is it?”

“Jinye, where are you? I’m scared, can you talk to me?”

Xiao Qingqing made all efforts to strike a balance between being gentle and doleful.

Mu Zhi could faintly hear what she said from where she was laying.

Lu Jinye gradually circled the bed and pulled the curtain open, just enough to catch a glimpse of the heavy pour currently occurring outside. The rain did not look like it was going to stop soon.

He hesitated and said, “Go ahead, I’m listening.”

Xiao Qingqing was terrified of rain. Lu Jinye was aware of it.

Throughout their long-lasting relationship, Lu Jinye had learned everything that would give Xiao Qingqing a nightmare.

The reason she hated the rain was because there was this rainy day when she was cornered, forced to strip for her debut.

It was also a rainy day when her birth parents almost sold her away.

Before meeting him, Xiao Qingqing’s journey as a celebrity was not going her way at all. She was required to take nude photos, often lasting up to hours. She had no prominence and frequently got overlooked.

There was this time when Xiao Qingqing was asked to be locked in a cage during a steamy shooting, getting fondled by men like a helpless kitten.

It was all done to provoke a lustful reaction in the audience. The director even put Xiao Qingqing’s cage next to a kennel of German Shepherds. The storyline wrote that Xiao Qingqing was raised alongside the dogs.

The shooting took a full day to complete. After filming, the staff members were exhausted and were eager for dinner. They left excitedly, leaving Xiao Qingqing behind.

She shouted at them at the top of her lungs, but her voice was ultimately drowned in the sound of dogs barking in the middle of the night.

Xiao Qingqing watched them as they zoomed away from her, disappearing in her line of sight.

The rain started pouring when she had lost sight of them. Xiao Qingqing’s cage had a roof. She could use it to hide from the rain. But the muddy water was clung onto her feet, intermittently splashing on her.

The dogs were upset by the rain. They started viciously ramming at the cage, hoping to barge in and hide from the rain as well.

Xiao Qingqing could feel the cage shake underneath her. She was terrified. Terrified that the dogs would come in and shred her into pieces.

In the end, at this moment, a drunken man passed by.

When he noticed Xiao Qingqing, who was only wearing a flimsy outfit, an unscrupulous lust arose. He started making his way towards her.

She was even more terrified at this point, but she had nowhere to run.

Seeing that the drunken man was smashing the lock of her cage with a rock, she trembled all over in fear.

Her shrieking calls for help pierced the night but to no avail.

On the contrary, her screams made the man even more excited!

Just as Xiao Qingqing had given up all hopes, the dogs suddenly lost control and attacked the man, scaring the man away.

Xiao Qingqing had lost consciousness when she was discovered the next day. She took a month off for rest but nightmares would not stop coming at her.

The nightmare would continue to haunt her every time it rained.

When they just started dating, Lu Jinye would not sleep during rainy nights. He would let her sleep in his embrace, giving her a sense of security.

He would wake her up when she was screaming for help, letting her know that it was just a dream.

So… Lu Jinye knew how scared Xiao Qingqing was and the struggle she was currently going through.

“Jinye, I remember you’d not sleep through the night whenever it rained in the past.”

In this instance, Xiao Qingqing uttered meekly on the other end of the phone.

As though reminiscing the good ole days.

“Yeah.”

Lu Jinye responded lightly.

Mu Zhi had no intention of listening to their love story, but she ended up hearing everything.
