Chapter 12
Chapter 12 Reuben Around midnight, the drizzle that had been hanging over the pack intensified into heavy rain. The cold wind crept through the window, opening and closing the curtain. in front of it, as I remained engrossed in the document in my hand, unfazed by the lightning and thunder outside. While the entire pack slumbered, I found myself unable to sleep, instead I delved into work. Six years ago, Willow had not run away alone. She stole my heart, mind, soul, and sleep. I was lucky to catch a few hours of sleep, and whenever I dreamed, it was always about her. Now that I had finally found her, I could not get even a wink, as my wolf was agitated by the distance separating us. The thought of her staying in someone else’s pack and home while ignoring me was unbelievably nerve-wracking. baser Clenching my fists, I tightly closed my eyes, attempting to rein in the urges of my side that sought to act upon thoughts that I shouldn’t even entertain. A couple of seconds later, just as I gained control over myself, my entire being was struck by a familiar sensation. My eyes shot wide open and my wolf came to full attention in my mind. I stood up, rushed out of my study then out of the packhouse at lightning speed. The growing feeling inside led me out into the heavy rain, soaking my entire body in at second, but all my attention was focused on the figure emerging from the woods ahead. A slender figure with a beautiful face with clothes that were soaked through came into view, causing my heartbeat to quicken. ‘Mate, Dex’s voice was barely above a whisper in my head, he was completely mesmerized by Willow, just like me. A wolf guarding the borders mind-linked me, “Alpha, a she-wolf that fits the description you have been giving us for the past 6 years has intruded into the pack just now.” ‘I know…” We drew closer to each other until we were merely a hand’s breadth away from each other. That was when she locked eyes with me, my heart began to race like crazy. She was not a
figment of my imagination. She was really standing there in front of me. “Why did you do it?” she asked, her lips trembling from the cold and glistening with raindrops. “I did nothing.” I replied, meeting her slightly reddened eyes, rimmed with rain-soaked lashes. “Liar!” she snapped, lifting her hand as if to slap me, only to hesitate halfway there 15 Wed, 28 Feb Chapter 12 when I neither evaded nor attempted to stop her. “Hit me if you want,” I stepped closer until we were inches apart. “But my answer will remain the same,” I whispered. Willow’s blue eyes snapped with fire as she looked deep into mine. She lightly bit her lip, knowing that I wasn’t one to hide my actions, be they good or bad. If I did something, I’d admit to it without hesitation. Slowly, she lowered her hand. “Then is it a lie that you hold the papers for the Wade Moon Pack?” Her voice was soft, but her eyes were filled with sparks. “I do have them,” I confessed. “Even though just now you said you did nothing,” she frowned. “Come with me,” I grabbed her hand and started leading her inside. “Where?” she panicked. “Inside the packhouse.” “I am not going in there,” she protested, trying to break free from my grasp. “Whatever you want to say, say it out here!” She stubbornly stood her ground. I stopped and stared at her. “I don’t mind talking out here in the rain, but I can’t guarantee how long I’ll be able to control myself,” I stated, my gaze drifting down her body. Confused, Willow followed my line of sight, only to realize her wet clothes were clinging to her figure, outlining her curves and bra. Alarmed, she quickly adjusted her clothes with her free hand then looked at me with wide eyes and a flushed face.
“Let’s go,” I tore my gaze away from her and resumed walking toward the packhouse. This time, she followed me quietly. Upon entering the packhouse, it was dark, with no moonlight filtering in. When we reached my study, I stopped at the doorstep and gestured for Willow to enter first. She stood still for a few moments, seemingly contemplating something. Eventually, she lifted her legs and walked into the room. My eyes traced her slender, wet figure as I followed suit, closing the door behind me. The click of the door locking resonated in the silent room, drawing Willow’s immediatel attention. The two of us were alone in the packhouse, and her expression conveyed her awareness of this fact. “Why did you bring me here?” she asked as I took slow steps toward her side. “Why do you think?” I halted, facing her, my hands buried in my pockets. 2/5 19:10 Wed, 28 Feb FD Chapter 12 Unconsciously, my gaze fixated on a few droplets of water that cascaded from her wet hair down to her glistening chest. A surge of heat shot through me as I found myself captivated by her allure. Willow’s lips parted slightly, sensing my intense scrutiny. “Reuben…” she said my name, drawing my attention back to her face. “Why did you… take over Wade Moon Pack?” She asked as she drew closer to me. “What did I do?” I raised an eyebrow. “You know exactly what I mean. The Wade Moon Pack, it’s under your control now,” she pointed out, her tone laced with anger. “Why did you claim it? Why?” she demanded. I stared at her for a moment before reaching for a tablet on my desk and picking it up. “Here,” I selected a video and handed it to her. “What’s this?” she hesitated but took it. “Footage from a werewolf gambling house,” I explained. As the words left my mouth, Willow’s eyes
widened in surprise. She immediately played the video, it revealed Sky gambling with a group of shady individuals. He continued playing, cursing, and growing increasingly frustrated as he lost every penny. Eventually, he was left with nothing, completely broke. He engaged in a fight and eventually wagered the Wade Moon Pack papers in a final gamble, only to lose them as well. Willow’s hand trembled as she watched the video. “Sky was drunk…” Her grip tightened on the tablet. “He gambled away years of his father’s hard work like it was…” Since Sky was the heir to the Wade Moon Pack, his signature held legal weight, it meant the pack was now truly no longer in Alpha Benjamin’s possession. “Sky told me that Wade Moon now belongs to the Emerald Bright Pack,” she murmured, puzzled. I retrieved the tablet from her hand and handed her a paper that legally stated that the Wade Moon Pack now belonged to Emerald Bright. “How is this possible?” Willow looked up at me in surprise. “Later that day, I bought Wade Moon from that criminal wolf,” I slowly took the paper from her hand. Her eyes grew wide in surprise, “Why did you acquire it in the first place?” I took a step closer to her and lifted her chin up, “Because I wanted to.” 19:10 Wed, 28 Feb Chapter 12 Willow’s eyes shook in realization. “Did you… do it because I am staying there…” I released her chin and stated sternly, “Since you are here, inform Alpha Benjamin that he has fifteen days to vacate pack lands with his members.” “No! It’s their home. Where will they go?” Willow’s face turned pale. “Why should I care?” I raised my emotionless eyes to her. “Those that protest will be taken care of,” I added. “No, you can’t do that, Reuben!” She stepped closer to me. “Why can’t I? I am the legal owner of the Wade Moon Pack land,” I stated. “Name your price! I’ll buy it back,” her eyes showed determination. I chuckled darkly, triggered by her love for the Wade Moon Pack. She was ready to offer up years of
her savings and fortune for a stranger?! My wolf growled in my mind as 1 replied, “Then pay me ten times the original price.” “Ten times?” Her face turned white in horror. “That’s the amount I paid to obtain those pack lands,” I revealed. Willow’s eyes blazed at the additional papers on my desk then back to me over the obscene amount I had paid. “You paid ten times the land’s original price just to get Wade Moon land?” Her eyes were perfectly round in shock as she stared at me. “Yes, ten times. Pay me back.” “Are you insane? Where am I going to get such a sum?” I raised my hand and pulled her closer to my chest. “Pay it or accept the inevitable, Willow,” I whispered close to her face. The room fell into dead silence as Willow stared into my eyes with slightly teary-eyes. “Why are you doing this, Reuben?” her voice shook in defeat. Her eyes were full of self blame. “You know why, Willow,” I caressed her cheek and brushed my thumb across her lower. lip. Her heart rate quickened with our close proximity and she closed her eyes briefly before asking, “What do you want from me in exchange for Wade Moon?” “Move into Emerald Bright Pack,” I wrapped my arms around her slender waist, pulling her closer to me. 色 19:10 Wed, 28 Feb a F Chapter 12 “What?” her eyes widened in shock. +12%日 I ran my fingers through her hair and pulled her closer to my lips, “Move in, into my house.” 0 This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
