Chapter 17
Chapter 17
When Emma woke up, she was the only one in the ward. She felt a lot of pain in her stomach, like
being stabbed in and stirred by a sharp knife.
She lay motionless like a puppet on the bed. After a long time, she dared to touch her belly with her
shaking hands. Her pale fingers touched the coarse gauze.
There had ever gestated four child.
However, each of them was brutally killed by Glenn.
Tears slipped through her pale cheek. There was nothing but a soft sound of sob in the empty ward. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
"Well, well, Glenn hasn't come yet. Who do you expect to see your crying?"
Celia came and mocked at Emma.
Emma was disgusted by her hypocrisy. She turned her head and didn't want to talk to her.
Celia was obviously unwilling to take things lying down. She didn't stop mocking at her.
She stepped forward, and pressed at the gauze bandage on Emma's palm.
She didn't take it away with satisfaction until she saw Emma's cold sweat. And she said the cruel words
with a proud smile on her face.
"Still want to have Glenn's baby? You've had the uterus cut off, how can you get pregnant?”
The words were like a bolt from the blue. Emma suddenly looked up at Celia in disbelief.
Celia look so satisfied with Emma's reaction. She said slowly, "Oh, I forgot that you just woke up and
didn't know that. Glenn had let the doctor remove half of your uterus to punish you for stabbing me with
a knife.
"He what?!" Emma fixed her red eyes on the so-called sister, as if she was going to weep out blood.
Celia looked at her reaction with satisfaction and continued to stimulate her.
"Glenn told you better to roll as how far as you could. If you still importune next time, it will be not just to
cut the uterus."
Then Celia left the ward like a peacock.
Emma lay in bed and closed her eyes painfully.
Glenn, I was wrong.
I thought if I tried hard enough, you'd see the good in me.
I thought maybe someday you will love me too.
I thought...
If we can't live together happily, then let's go to hell together!
Emma lay in the hospital for a week before she was able to get down to the ground. The first thing she
did was lying to the doctor and asking for some sleeping pills.
Until the thirteenth day after Emma's injury, Glenn finally came to the hospital.
He came with Celia, who always pretended to be so innocent when she was with him.
Emma was sitting by the bed, looking out of the window.
It was Celia's sweet voice that interrupted her, "Oh, why did you get out of bed, Emma? Let me help
you."
Emma frowned and pushed her outstretched hand away. "Don't touch me. You made me feel sick."
Glenn's face darkened instantly, and he pulled Celia into his arms with great force and reproved her
lightly.
"Why do you touched the bitch? She dirty your hands."
Celia nestled in Glenn's arms and said anxiously, "but my sister was hurt so bad. It was all my fault. I..."
Glenn cut her words, "It was none of your business. She wanted to kill you with a knife, she deserved
to be hurt, then."
"But..." Celia tried to continue. Glenn put a finger on her lips to stop her from talking.
"Celia, don't blame yourself."
"Have you showed enough of your love? Get out of here!" Emma looked at the two people who were
almost glued together, and there was a cool air in the empty place at the bottom of her heart.
Glenn then payed his attention to the woman who had been his wife for three years. Her voice was
powerful. It seemed she was recovering well.
Emma leaned back on the pillow, closed her eyes and slowly said, "I've signed the divorce agreement.
Why are you here?"
Glenn's concerned words suddenly gone. "I come to see if you're dead."
Emma sneered, "Then I'm sorry, still alive."
"Good."
Glenn's mood cooled down. At the time he turned around and was about to leave, Emma suddenly
called him.
"Glenn, can we talk?"
Emma remained covering her eyes with her arms. her lips were unhealthily pale.
She thought Glenn would give her another round of ridicule. But she got a surprise response.
"Celia, please go to the restaurant first, I'll be there later."
"Glenn..."
"Go!"
There was a door slamming in the ward, and it was soon completely quiet.
Then Emma heard the rustle of paper and pen contact. She opened her eyes, sat up straight a little,
and saw a check floating in front of her face.
It was a check for two hundred thousand dollars.
"Take good care of yourself. And don't see each other any more." Glenn was still in that superior
attitude like he was doing charity.
Emma smiled ironically. She held out two fingers to pick up the check and raised her head to query
Glenn.
"What is it about? Are you paying for the abortion of your four children or the is it a apology for cutting
half of my uterus?"
Glenn's expression suddenly changed, he yelled, "Emma, don't be so cheeky!"
Emma was stunned by his roar. After a pause, she began to laugh. "How can I be dignified? Since the
day I married you, you've ripped my dignity off in front of everyone and trampled on it countless times."
She looked up at him. Her pale smile and the sadness in her eyes seemed to infect him. Glenn paused
and swallowed the hurtful words that were going to come out of his mouth.
"Anyway, we have made it clear on the original agreement. We would divorce peacefully when Celia
come back. Now she's back, we'll call it even."
So we're even! Glenn, you are so cold-hearted!
Emma's heart had a sharp contraction and her lower abdomen began to ache.
She covered her belly and groaned lightly.
Glenn thought Emma was playing another trick. He snorted coldly and turned to leave.
"Help me..."
He heard Emma's groan of pain.
Glenn's steps paused for a second, and finally stepped back to her.
He picked Emma up to in the bed, reached for the paging bell at the head of the bed, but Emma
stopped him.
"Glenn, I've had a question in my head for a long time."
