Her Precious Baby

Chapter 107

Chapter 107

The weather was indeed freezing outside. Angeline stopped acting temperamental, put on her shoes, and got into Sylas’ car.

Soon, the car arrived at the hotel.

“Thank you.”

Angeline spoke softly. She reached out to grab the door handle but felt slightly uncomfortable because she was drunk from drinking alcohol.

Seeing that, Sylas got out of the car, walked around the vehicle, and helped her open the door to the backseat.

“Ms. Sorelle, this is the medication to help you sober up that Mr. Golding asked me to buy for you.”

After assisting her to get out of the car, Sylas handed Angeline a bag of medications.

“I don’t want it,” she refused.

“Ms. Sorelle, you’re making things difficult for me.” Instead of retracting his arm, he regarded her with a troubled look. “Actually, Mr. Golding genuinely cares about you.”

“He cares about me? Isn’t he about to get married to his fiancée? I don’t think what he’s doing is at all appropriate!”

“Are you talking about Ms. Sherrock?” Brows furrowed, Sylas asked strangely, “Mr. Golding said he’s calling off their engagement. Hasn’t he executed the plan?”

He’s calling off their engagement?

Angeline was stunned after she heard him. “Why?”

“I-I’m afraid I can’t divulge that information,” Sylas replied grimly.

He stayed tight-lipped subsequently. No matter how she pestered him, he wouldn’t answer her. After handing her the pack of medication, he swiftly left in his car. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

Staring at the back of his car, which gradually grew smaller and finally disappeared from her vision, Angeline clenched her fists. She also became significantly sober at that moment.

She gazed up at the starry night sky and took a deep breath, feeling much more elated.

Meanwhile, at the Golding residence, Evander wore a grimace since he entered the house, seemingly in a bad mood.

Francesca carefully served him his supper. While he sipped on his bowl of soup in the dining room, he saw Floretta, dressed in pajamas, approach him.

Her curly hair draped over her shoulders like a porcelain doll. She held her sunny doll in one hand while rubbing her groggy eyes with the other hand.

“Daddy, you’re back.”

“Yes.”

His grimace gradually dissipated when he saw her. “Why aren’t you asleep yet?”

Upon hearing that, Floretta hastily jogged up to him and climbed up his lap in one swift motion. Then, she sat properly and said, “I was waiting for you to come home.”

Evander could figure out her intention instantaneously. He stretched out his hand to poke her nose.

“Tell me. What toys do you want to buy now?”

Floretta appeared exceptionally adorable as she chuckled with her round eyes shining.

“I don’t want to buy a toy. Daddy, the Labor Day holiday is coming soon. There won’t be any classes at the kindergarten that day, so can I go out to play?”

Hearing that, Evander frowned. Only then did he realize how busy he had been with work. He didn’t even notice May was around the corner in the blink of an eye,

Unfortunately, he had arranged to go for outstation work the day after tomorrow, and he would be gone for an entire week.

At that thought, he flashed an apologetic look, held Floretta tightly in his arms, and uttered gently, “I’ll try my best to free up some time to accompany you and bring you out to have fun.”

“That’s not necessary. My teacher told us our parents are working very hard to earn money, so, as their children, we should learn to be more considerate,” Floretta responded earnestly while patting her chest.

A hint of contentment glinted in his eyes as Evander looked at her daughter. She didn’t attend kindergarten for naught, after all.

“You can do your work, Daddy. Someone will bring me out to play.” Evander assumed Floretta meant Francesca by “someone.” Hence, he didn’t stop her.

He reminded her in a deep voice, “You can go out as long as you’ll stay safe.”

“Yay! You’re the best, Daddy!”

Floretta’s eyes lit up as she reacted in an unusually exhilarating manner. She hugged his neck and pecked his cheek.

Evander embraced his daughter. A tender smile spread across his face. It seems like Angeline is right. Since Floretta went to kindergarten, she has become more cheerful. She no longer badgers me with requests to meet with Angeline and has grown more independent. Perhaps I shouldn’t be too overprotective toward her as before too. I should occasionally bring her out and spend time with her to strengthen our bond.

Evander’s anger, triggered by the slap to his face, melted away as the thought surfaced in his mind. Although Angeline is always causing trouble, I cannot deny that Floretta has changed a lot because of her. If I let her become Floretta’s mommy…

“Daddy, have you met with Angel recently?” Floretta lifted her head and regarded her father with large, gleaming eyes.

“Yes. She asked you to behave and said she’ll come and visit you when she’s free,” Evander lied without hesitation.

Taking in his faint smile, Floretta felt delighted.

This is so great! Daddy and Angel’s relationship is showing progress. I’ll have to work harder to make her my stepmom.

Upon attaining her goal, Floretta said good night to Evander and ran back to her room joyfully while hugging her doll.

Without her usual alarm to wake her up, Angeline slept until the afternoon. She still felt dizzy when she woke up, as if a car had run over her.

She sat up on the bed to compose herself before picking up her phone on the bedside table.

A few film crew members, such as the director and some actors, greeted her concernedly. She briefly replied to all of them before finally reading the latest message Nancy sent to her.

As the filming for “The Journey” had officially wrapped up, Nancy drafted an updated upcoming schedule for Angeline.

Aside from a few minor advertisements, Nancy also accepted a job for her to participate in a variety show called “Move It, Baby.”

That variety show featured celebrity guests bringing an unfamiliar child to explore places all over the country and accomplish missions.

And the male celebrity collaborating with Angeline was none other than Jacob.

While Angeline was reading the rules for the missions, Nancy called her via WhatsApp. She immediately swiped the screen to answer the call.

Nancy uttered solemnly, “Have you seen my messages? You can seize this opportunity to rest for a few days for the shooting of this variety show since you’ve just finished filming for “The Journey.” We’ll be departing to Summerbank in the afternoon of the day after tomorrow for the making of this variety show.”

Angeline furrowed her brows after hearing that, as she couldn’t fathom the rationale behind Nancy’s arrangements. “I understand why I have to collaborate with Jacob, but why does it have to be a children-themed variety show?”

“I calculated the statistics and found out most of your fans adore you as part of a couple. Therefore, we must grasp this opportunity to let the public see how you and Jacob care for a child. That’ll be so interesting, and the remuneration will be handsome!”

Angeline was rendered speechless.

She was impressed by Nancy’s money-oriented personality. Still, she was glad to accept the offer since the job paid well, could assist her in garnering fame, and also allowed her to go on vacation.

Coincidentally, Angeline had been feeling quite moody lately, so she needed to take a breather.

She finished shootings for all the local advertisements in two days. Then, she packed her luggage and went to the airport.

However, Angeline was instantly dumbfounded when she saw the man and child sitting in the lounge. This is impossible. Why is Floretta here at the airport?

Angeline thought her eyes were playing tricks on her. She blinked and opened her eyes again, but the scene remained the same. What’s going on?

Amidst her confusion, cameramen emerged from all directions and surrounded her. The producer shouted, “Hurry! Capture Angeline’s first reaction when she meets the child.”

The next second, flashlights from the cameras blinded her as the cameramen took pictures and videos of her face. Taken by surprise, Angeline raised her arms to cover her eyes from the dazzling lights.

“Angel!”

At that moment, Jacob, holding Floretta’s hand, got up from their seats. Both of them were dressed in casual, vacation-style outfits. They walked toward her while dragging a large and small suitcase, respectively.

Their outstanding good looks instantly attracted the attention of the passengers at the airport. The passers-by took out their phones and secretly took photos of them.

“It’s really you?”
