Chapter 94
- Like a Real Father
“Open it,” Frank whispered with a faint smile.
When Kara found the access card in the box, her eyes widened.” What?”
“That’s your room key.”
Kara’s eyebrows furrowed. The cards had different colors-pink for Emily, blue for Louis, and yellow for her.
“We… got different rooms?” she sighed doubtfully.
Frank nodded. “Those rooms are empty. I’d be happy if you could occupy it.”
Emily and Louis stared at each other with round mouths. “We have
our own room?”
“Yes. Are you happy? Or do you want the same room?”
“No!” The twins answered in unison.
“We’ve always wondered what it would be like to have our own rooms,
Emily added.
Kara silently grimaced. She never knew her children had such desires.
“Now, are you ready to see it? Louis or Emily’s room first?”
“Emily’s first,” the toddler boy answered as if he didn’t care. In fact, his toes could not stay still in the shoes.
Soon, they went up to the second floor. After Emily tapped the access card on the door, the pink walls immediately greeted her. There were lots of cute stickers there. Emily loved them all.
“This is cool!” she sighed with sparkling eyes.
She also liked the bed with the fluffy blanket, the small dressing table decorated with lots of lamps, and the white wardrobe next to the
bookshelf.
“I actually want to buy lots of dolls for you, but I’m afraid they won’t compete with Yemon,” the CEO muttered.
“No need, Mister Kind. This alone is more than enough. Thank you for preparing such a beautiful room for me.” Emily hugged Frank’s leg. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Kara was restless. She was sure that Frank secretly believed that the twins were his flesh and blood. However, seeing the emotion on Emily’s face, she could do nothing.
Suddenly, Frank grabbed Emily’s hand and asked her to open the wardrobe. Apparently, it was full of beautiful and cute clothes.
“While you live here, you can wear all of these.”
Emily was stunned. She felt like she was in a shopping center. “How will Mommy pay for it? This must be very expensive.”
Kara silently looked down and scratched her ear. She was aware of her shortcomings as a mother. Frank’s gift seemed insinuating. However, she couldn’t possibly forbid Emily from accepting it. That’s her right.
“What about my room?” Louis could no longer pretend to be patient.
Frank smiled faintly. They moved to the next room. When the door opened, Louis’ eyes almost jumped out of their sockets.
The walls of the room were blue with a space feel. There were lots of planets and rockets there. The room layout was similar to Emily’s room. It’s just that, the shelf next to the wardrobe was not only filled. with books, but also various cars and Rubik’s cubes. In the corner of
the room, there was a telescope pointing out the window.

room.”
“Honestly, there are more toys in this room. I don’t know what girls’ toys are. So, if there’s anything you want, don’t hesitate to tell me, Princess.”
Emily chuckled at Frank’s regret. “I am alright, Mister Kind. With that many books, I can last a year. Moreover, there are colored pencils.”
After a nod, Frank turned to Louis. The toddler boy was still stunned.” How is it, Buddy? Is there anything missing?”
Louis smiled. “No. Thank you, Mr. Harper.”
The CEO couldn’t help but laugh. Louis didn’t call him Mr. Grumpy
anymore.
“Kara, how about we check your room now?”
The woman nodded languidly. She felt like she was lousy and no longer dared to argue. Now, she got to thinking. Was she selfish in keeping the twins with her and keeping them away from their father? Without her, they might have been accepted by Rowan and lived more
prosperously.
“Do you like your room?”
Kara blinked. Frank and the twins were waiting for her response. Even though she was uncomfortable getting a room next to the CEO, she still gave a small nod.
Thinking that the relationship between Frank and her mother had. progressed, Emily giggled. Meanwhile, Louis was wandering around.” Then, where is Grandrna’s room?”
“Downstairs. Your grandmother said she wanted to avoid stairs.”
Emily nodded slowly. “That’s better. Grandma is old. Her knees are
After a chuckle, Frank held out his hand to the twins. “Now, how about we meet your grandmother? She is in my library.”
“You have a library?” Emily’s face lit up.
Frank nodded. As they arrived there, he proudly showed a room with walls filled with books.
The twins were flabbergasted. Their eyes wandered here and there. When they found Susan near one of the shelves, their smiles widened.
“Grandma? Did Grandma organize all these books?”
Susan approached her grandchild. “No, Emily, Grandma just labeled them and moved some books. Everything was neatly arranged from the start.”
Emily’s mouth rounded. “Is there anything we can help?”
Susan shook her head. “It’s done.”
“So, how are you, Grandma? Are you okay now?” Louis asked, longing for Susan’s attention too.
“Grandma is okay, Louis.” While stroking his grandson’s cheek, Susan turned to her daughter. Kara noticed the stare.
“I’m fine, Mom.”
“Thank God.” Susan smiled bitterly. “We’re lucky that Mr. Harper is willing to provide us an emergency shelter.”
“I’m actually happy to help you, Mrs. Martin. Now, since it’s my day off, do you guys want to go cycling?”
Louis and Emily suddenly looked at each other. Their eyes lit up. However, remembering Louis’ injured left hand, their smiles faded.
“You can play alone, Emily. I’m fine,” Louis said wearily.
“But it’s not fun if you just watch.”
“Don’t worry, Kids. I have prepared something for Louis.” Frank smiled faintly.
The twins started to wonder. When they arrived at the back yard, excited screams immediately resounded. Louis instantly forgot his pride towards the CEO.
“Emily, check this out! This is the latest mini car! I must be really cool when I ride it.”
“And this bike is no less cool, Louis. Look! There is a helmet and knee protectors in the basket. And this ribbon… isn’t it very pretty?”
Seeing the twins’ excitement, Kara smiled a little. Frank seemed very sincere. He helped Louis into the car then put on safety gear for Emily.
“Isn’t that guy very nice? You’re lucky to know him, Kara.”
Hearing her mother’s whisper, the curve of Kara’s lips changed direction. Her chest was tight. She couldn’t imagine Susan’s reaction if she found out the truth. It was the man who had ruined their lives.
Throughout the day, the twins spent time with Frank. They not only played, but also ate, bathed, chatted, and even went to bed together.
Kara could only muse as she sat on the back porch, staring at the stars. Her hot tea already turned cold, but she hadn’t sipped it once. They are like real father and children. Was it a sin to separate them?”
Suddenly, a coat was placed on her shoulders. When she looked back, Frank gave her another form of warmth through his smile.
