His Cure

Let’s extend the contract

Gregory’s face held an alarming look.

Harry had came to visit him after Alyssa and Melinda left and he told him something unbelievable.

“What did you just say now?”

“I said Amelia was the one that ordered the hit on you and your aunt. She has been caught when she was trying to escape.”Harry revealed.

Gregory held his chest and let’s out a sharp breath.

His own sister tried to kill him?.

She killed their aunt also?.

All because of their father’s properties?!

“The assassin she hired has been apprehended too. And.. well, about the Paris’s stuff, the detective called me minutes ago and told me that after carrying out an investigation, Jennifer was the one behind it. She had it in mind to kill your wife. I’ve gotten her arrested too.”

Gregory’s face turned sour.

“Two people close to me tried to..”he paused and scoffed.

“It’s.. okay, though. They have been caught. They would atone for their sins.”he sighed.

“Are.. you okay?”Harry asked.

“Of course, I am, you dimwit.”Gregory snapped.

“Trying to act strong?”

“Amelia and I have never been that close. Jennifer and I are just.. how do I put that?. I didn’t trust Amelia in the first place so, I am just a little bit surprised and as for Jennifer, I do guess I am good looking enough to make a woman wanna kill because of me.”he joked.

“Are you feeling proud?. Lawfully, you should be arrested too, cause, a man that is too cute till the extent of influencing ladies to commit crimes is also a criminal.”Harry laughed.

“You can leave now. I want to sleep.”Gregory uttered.

“Woah?. Are you sending me out right now?. By the way, where is Beatrice?”

“At home.”Greg responded.

“At home?. She just left?”

“Nope.”

“She didn’t come around at all?”

“Yes.”

“What?. Why?. You guys fought?”

Gregory rolled his eyeballs at his unending questions.

“We didn’t, but, I understand. This is a fake mar..”he stopped talking

Harry narrowed his eyes at him.

“Fake what?”he peered his eyes in Gregory’s.

Gregory gulped down and itched his head.

“Well.. this cannot escape your knowledge forever. She and I don’t love each other from the beginning. The marriage was founded on papers.”

“Damn! I have been so dumb not to notice that! Especially when you were saying you didn’t like her.”

“Hm. Dumb, indeed.”Gregory nodded.

Harry glared at him.

“And, what about now?. You.. guys still don’t like each other?”

“I like her, but I’m not sure if she does.”Gregory sighed.

“You’ve told her that?”

“I couldn’t bring myself to.”

“You coward.”Harry scoffed.

“You want me to do that for you?”he offered.

“Nope.. I am the one that like her, so I should be the one to tell her myself.”

“Then, muster up some courage to tell her.”

“We would see how it goes.”

Some days later.

..

Gregory hopped inside the car and sat down.

“Congratulations on your discharge, boss.”his driver greeted.

“Thanks.”Gregory nodded.

He ignites the engine and started driving away.

About three cars were behind them.

They soon arrived at the mansion and Gregory alighted out of the car and walked inside the house.

He took the stairs up to the room, hoping to atl least see Beatrice there but he got the opposite.

He undressed and went to take a shower.

As he was changing into another cloth, he wondered why she wouldn’t have come to visit him, even if their marriage is a sham.

If they could be considered partners, she should still visit her partner that almost died from a bullet in the hospital, right?.

Someone knocked on the door and he invited the person in.

“I made you a cup of coffee. Happy, aren’t you?”Melinda smiled, hugely.

Gregory chuckled.

He collected it from her and took a sip out of it.

“Thank you, Melinda.”

“Did you visit your Father?”Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Huh?”

“Wait, don’t tell me you didn’t?”she arched her brows.

“He didn’t visit me also so why should I?”he scoffed.

“He waited for..”

“It’s already too late. I don’t see him as my father anymore.”Gregory interpolated.

“Things happened so fast, Greg. Your aunt, you and even Amelia. Try to imagine how shocked he is currently.”

“He turned us into this, Melinda. I clearly said I didn’t want to inherit any goddamn thing but he just had to be fvcking adamant. He could have just passed the stuff to Amelia then, we wouldn’t have hated each other and she wouldn’t have killed our aunt.”he went to sit down on the bed.

“You should still go see him. He thought he was the doing the right thing.”Melinda pressed on.

“I’ll try.”Gregory stated before taking gulps of his drink down.

“I couldn’t come to accompany you out of the hospital as I had to rush down to the pharmacy to go get some drugs.”

“You sick?”

“No. You wife is.”Melinda responded.

Gregory lifted his gaze up at her.

Beatrice is sick?.

“She’s been worried sick about you. She hasn’t been eating very well in the past days too. This morning, she woke up with a strong headache. And, she has been vomiting profusely too. Isn’t that pregnancy’s symptoms?”Melinda jerked her nose.

“No way.”Gregory scoffed.

“That was what she said too. Are you guys keeping something from me?”Melinda strained her eyes.

“At all.”Gregory downed the remaining coffee in the cup and handed it over to Melinda.

“My God, you are getting more insolent every passing day. Don’t think because you’re married now, I can’t punish you.”She scolded as she received the cup from him.

Gregory pecked her right cheek instead and moved out.

He went to Beatrice’s room and stared at the door, blankly.

As he made to grab the knob, it went ajar.

“Good morning, sir.”the maid greeted.

Gregory’s eyes trailed down to the tray in her hand.

“What’s that?”

“I brought Mrs Winslow’s food but she told me to take it away.”she answered with a bow.

“Give me that.”Greg said.

The maid placed it on his palms, bowed and walked away.

Gregory entered the room and shut the door, silently.

He turned back and saw Beatrice lying down on the bed with a towel on her forehead.

Her eyes were shut too.

“Didn’t you guys heard that I don’t want anybody around?”she breathed out with her eyes still closed.

He stepped to where she was and placed the tray on the table beside the bed.

He sat down beside her and stared at her pale face.

Beatrice opened her eyes and it made contact with his eyes.

They stared at each other for seconds before she took her gaze away.

“Y-y-you’re back.”she bats her lashes, rapidly.

“If you were worried, why didn’t you just come to visit me?”Gregory asked.

“I.. I..”Beatrice gulped hard.

She has no reasonable excuse to give.

“Forget it. You should eat something.”

“No, no..”she shook her head.

“Why?”his brows furrowed up.

“I… I. feel nauseous. I will throw up if.. I eat any food.”she responded.

“How about you drink something then?”

“Nope. I’m good.”she sighed.

Gregory looked at her for some time.

She was clearly avoiding his gaze.

Does she feels bad?.

“What do you want then?”he asks, lowly.

She slowly turned to look at him but took her eyes away, almost immediately.

“You just came back. You should rest up. I’d be fine in no time.”she swallowed hard.

Gregory scoffed.

He placed his hand on her face, turning her head to face him.

He bored his eyes in her’s deeply before smashing his mouth on hers, gently.

Beatrice’s eyes widened a little.

What is he doing?.

He broke the kiss and touched her hair.

“Let’s extend the contract, Author.”he remarked.
