Chapter 651
Casper looked totally baffled, "Wait... are you saying she took another guy on her vacation?"
"Drew."
Casper paused for a moment. Wasn't Drew her assistant from before? After Summer got let go, he had Drew step in at the CEO's office for a few days.
"She took Drew-is it for work?" Casper wondered.
"Mr. Casper, you can't be serious," Dillon replied, almost rolling his eyes. He figured it was pointless to discuss it with Casper. Casper would always have Caroline's back. Dillon had already decided to swallow this bitter pill himself. Once Caroline returned, he'd simply suggest they break up and part on good terms. Life's too short to waste time.
Casper scratched his nose, realizing he might be a bit biased. "Do you think she took Drew for some other reason? Why not just go and see for yourself what's up?"
Dillon was already puzzled by Caroline's cold shoulder after their fights. Now that she had Drew around, even if nothing was going on, it still left a bad taste.
"I'm not going," Dillon said flatly.
Casper was at a loss, realizing some situations were beyond his ability to fix. He decided not to push it further, "Alright, do what you want."
"I'll head to work now." Dillon took a deep breath and walked out of the CEO's office.
Casper pulled out his phone and called Caroline, "When are you coming back to work?"
"Didn't I hear you got engaged? Congrats," Caroline said, her voice mixed with the noise of several men in the background.
Casper frowned, "Worry about your own stuff. Dillon's a good guy, and if you're just messing around, find someone else so things aren't awkward later."
"So, I'm not decent now?" Caroline snapped, sounding impatient. "Our issues aren't your business. Just enjoy your happiness."
And with that, she hung up.
Casper: ...Was he sticking his nose where it didn't belong?
On the weekend, Casper finally managed to get Eliza to free up half a day to go horse riding with him.
Eliza wasn't thrilled. First off, shoret
didn't know how to ride, and after watching some videos of falls, she was wary of the sport. But knowing how much Casper loved it, she agreed.
When they arrived at the stables, Eliza noticed that Dillon and Caroline were already there. The sun was shining brightly, and Caroline, dressed in her riding gear, looked impressively confident.
"Hey, sis," Eliza called out cheerfully.
Caroline nodded and waved back. Without the professional riding gear like Caroline had, Eliza decided she'd rather just watch.
Casper and Dillon each chose a spirited horse, getting ready for a race to warm up. Dillon's riding skills matched Casper's, and if given a real run, he might just win.
"Mr. Casper, how about a little bet?" Dillon suggested with a smirk.noveldrama
Casper, holding the horse's reins, eyed his assistant. "Oh, so we're making demands now, huh? What's the wager?"
"If I win, and if I do end things with Caroline in the future, don't hold it against me," Dillon said quietly, a hint of sadness in his voice. "You know how it is with love; it's just a hurdle."
"What's a big guy like you worried about? You think your hurdles are bigger than mine?" Casper's gaze shifted to Caroline in the distance Entrusting her to Dillon seemed like the best choice; he still hoped they could sort things out. "If you can't handle this, maybe staying single is the way to go."
"Maybe we're just not right for each other," Dillon admitted, looking weary.
"Then who are you right for?" Casper's concern deepened, his brows knitting together. "You haven't found someone else already, have you?"
What do you think?
