Chapter 653
Autumn sunlight spilled through the stable, casting a warm glow on his chiseled features. The bits of light softened his edges, making his intense focus utterly captivating. Casper, tall and broad-shouldered, had chosen a horse that matched his robust stature.
Eliza glanced up at him as he carefully picked out the horse. It was massive, and she couldn't help but worry. If she fell, she might seriously hurt herself. The thought made her nervous. Could she opt out of this?
"Maybe we should go for a smaller one? This horse is a bit too grand," she suggested, her voice tinged with concern.
Casper chuckled softly, reassuring her with a smile that there was nothing to worry about. With one hand leading the horse and the other holding Eliza's, he guided them out of the stable. His movements were smooth and confident, and with a swift motion, he mounted the horse effortlessly.
After a couple of laps around the arena, he seemed to handle it like a pro. Pulling up beside her, he extended a hand, "Hop on."
Eliza's mind raced, imagining a flock of crows flying overhead. Was he serious? Did he think she could just fly up there? He should at least help her up.
She shook her head, fear mixing with a touch of resignation. But Casper didn't miss a beat. With a tug of the reins, the horse reared slightly before shooting forward. He looked undeniably cool, but she was genuinely terrified.
Just as Eliza thought she was off the hook, Casper circled back. As he passed, he leaned down, wrapped a firm arm around her waist, and lifted her up into his lap.
"Ah!" she yelped, clinging to his neck like a lifeline, her eyes squeezed shut.
"Don't worry," he murmured, more excited than she had ever seen him. With a flick of the reins, they were off.
The horse galloped with gusto, the wind whipping past them. Eliza's mind was a blur; she felt like she might faint from fright.
"Casper, slow down! I'm scared I'll fall," she pleaded over the rush of wind.
"How could I ever let you fall?" he reassured her, tightening his grip and planting a kiss on her cheek. "Just relax and enjoy this rare thrill."
His face was lit with joy. Around them, other young tourists on horseback watched with amusement, whistling and cheering.
"Looking sharp, you two!"
"Anyone want to ride with me next?"
"I want to try that too!"

"Did you enjoy it?" he asked, clearly having relished the experience.
It was like... like...
Like being swept away in a moment of pure exhilaration.
Eliza, however, had had enough excitement for one day. "I... I'm thirsty," she declared.
"I'll get you some water," he said, still not letting her down. With the horse at a leisurely pace, they headed towards the rest area.
As they passed the playful onlookers, greetings and thumbs-up were exchanged.
"Dude, you look awesome, and your girl is stunning!"
"Man, you ride like a champ. Let's race sometime!"
"That horse is amazing-so fast that we couldn't keep up!"
Casper nodded back, smiling politely.
Eliza's cheeks were flushed from the thrill and the sun, a light sheen of sweat on her brow. He liked seeing her like this. He cupped the back of her head and kissed her gently.
The ride was a bit bumpy, and she didn't dare pull away, worried she might fall. When he finally let up, he shielded her from the sun with his hand. "Feeling good?" he asked with a grin.
What do you think?
