Chapter 23
The next day, at exactly one p. m, Edmundo’s plane landed. Rita couldn’t hide her joy at being back to Spain. She missed her parents but most especially, she missed Rodrigo. As the plane taxied to a stop, Rita couldn’t wait to get out of the plane and finally meet the love of her life.
“What’s got you smiling?”, Edmumdo said, giving her a suspicious look.
“Oh nothing, I’m just happy to be back”, she said.
“I see. I think we should do this some other time, you know me and you”, Edmundo grinned.
“Oh no, I think I’ll pass. I won’t have time to do this again”, she said.
“You always complain about not having time. What exactly do you do with your time?.
A look of annoyance crossed his face but Rita ignored it. She didn’t want anything to ruin her mood especially since she would soon see Rodrigo.
“Edmundo, I run an empire bigger than some countries. I’m always in meetings and different functions. The only reason why I went on this trip with you is because I have no pressing things to do at the office”, she said.
She was trying desperately to reign her temper down but Edmundo wasn’t helping matters as he looked for any means possible to get her frustrated.
“Then reduce the things you do”, he said, tapping on his phone.
“And allow my company run bankrupt? Not a chance”.
“Well, it’s almost bankrupt according to the stats”, he muttered.
“What did you say?”, Rita said.
She heard what he said but she wanted him to repeat it again. She couldn’t believe that Edmundo knew all about the company’s woes and decided to keep it to himself. The reason for this totally baffled her. She stared at him, wishing she could hit him with something just to vent her anger.
“I see. Edmundo, if no one has told you this probably because of fear, I will. I think you’re a lying, insensitive and despicable man. You’re very pompous and you don’t have any regard to what others might feel towards the words you say to them. You lack manners and I hope you develop one before it’s too late”, she seethed.
Rita stood up from her seat, hissing before getting off the plane. The idiota had finally succeeded in ruining her mood and what’s more, he felt no remorse.
When she stepped out of the plane, the first thing she noticed was that the clouds were heavy. It prepared to rain and she was grateful they had finally landed before it pours it’s banks. When she stepped off the ramp, Rodrigo appeared beside her, startling her.
“Sugar girl”, he said quietly.
Rita smiled, wishing she could kiss him but she couldn’t because right at that moment, Edmundo and his driver were passing by. He walked towards her, hugging her as he gave her a kiss.
“I’ll see you some other time my sweet”, he smiled slyly.
Rita stilled, pretending to love his affection. Edmundo nodded at Rodrigo before he finally left. Just as he left, the first drop of rain hit them. Quickly, Rodrigo ushered her into a waiting car. When they were in and out of sight, Rita threw her hands around him, kissing him senseless.
“Sugar girl, I’ve missed you”, Rodrigo said once they pulled away.
Rita gripped his jacket, fearing that if she let go, he would disappear. Rodrigo laughed, pulling her closer as he took her lips in his again.
“Okay, let’s leave here before we’re arrested for indecent exposure”, Rita laughed.
Slowly, Rodrigo made his way out of the airport, careful of the puddles that had already gathered as a result of the rain.
Throughout the journey to the private place, he held her hand, kissing it intermittently. Rita sighed, reveling in his love.
“How’s your mother?”, She asked.
“She’s fine. She asked about you yesterday and that surprised the hell out of me because I never knew she knew you”, he said.
“I’m surprised too. I don’t know her”, she chuckled. “but I guess seeing me from magazines and the television would do”.
“So, sweetie I’ve been thinking over what you said concerning the loopholes in the organization. And I think I found a connection between Edmundo and Roland”, he said.
“Wait, no kidding me. How can that be?”.
“I really don’t know but I have a feeling that Edmundo doesn’t mean well for the company and him having an association with Roland just proves that”.
“You know, just before I got down from the plane, he said something about that. Apparently he knows all about my company’s woes but he kept it quiet. You’re right, there’s something he’s hiding and i can’t wait to find out and deal with him accordingly”, she said.
“I’ll help you every step of the way. Don’t worry about him, we’ll deal with him together”, Rodrigo smiled.
Soon, they got to the private place. Rodrigo parked the car in front of the main doors, coming round to open Rita’s.
“I told you not to worry about this, I’m perfectly capable of opening my own doors”, Rita smiled.
“A princess like you deserves to be treated right”, he grinned.
He scooped her up, carrying her bridal style towards the house. Rita squealed, hitting him on the chest playfully. Rodrigo laughed, kissing her as he dropped her on the couch in the living room.
“What did you do that for”, she gasped as he kissed a most sensitive part in her neck.
“Like I said before princess, you deserve to be treated right”, she said.
“You’re spoiling me too much”, she grinned.
“Then wait till we get married”, he grinned slyly.
He kissed every inch of her body, making sure to keep his hands where it wouldn’t wander away. What she told him about her virginity still rang in his ears. He respected her decision and he would see that she was protected in every way possible especially from Edmundo.
“Okay love, as much as I’ll like to make out with you, I really need to eat, I’m starved”, Rita said.
“Hmm, I know what I want to eat”, he hummed.
“Bad boy, sit”, Rita laughed, gripping his hair.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
At last, when he was satisfied Rodrigo stood up, helping her up. They made their way to the kitchen, hand in hand.
“What should we make?”, Rita said, pulling open the fridge.
“Spaghetti, always spaghetti”, he said.
“Coming right up sir”, she grinned.
“Now, who’s naughty. Anyway darling, we need to work on the information we have gotten concerning the stolen funds from the organization. I think you should inform your Dad so he’ll know what’s happening”, he said.
“Okay, I’ll see him tomorrow. Thank you”.
“I know better way you can thank me”, he laughed.
Rita smiled, going back to preparing food. For now, she was happy and hoped it would remain so.
