CHAPTER FORTY
My tears still won’t stop as I looked at Yara. She’s peacefully sleeping and I am sitting next to her in the bed. After our conversation earlier Keisha gave her medicine to sleep. She needs rest to recover. Though she’s physically and mentally healthy she still needs to recover. Even though she was asleep for three months due to the coma, the sleep rest was different, Keisha said.
Who would have thought that I would be weak at the thought of losing her? In my whole life, I never thought I would get to the point where I would cry in front of everyone because of her. I never thought I would learn to love. I came to the point that I would rather just die than not be with the woman I love — Yara.
I’ve never been weak, I’ve never been hurt, I’ve never cried, and I’ve never been in love. But all that I experienced with the mother of my children, with the woman I love and want to be with for life. Not only have I experienced it but I have shown it to others. I held her hands and kissed them gently. Fuck, why do this fucking tears won’t stop shedding?
“I love you,” I whispered as I watched her sleep peacefully. I won’t get tired of telling her that I love her. Whether asleep or awake and in any way. I love her and will love her even every minute to tell her that I love her I will. I will prove that what I am saying is true.
The door opened, and when I looked at it I saw Dane.
“Can I come in?” I just nodded as an answer.
“How are they?” I ask referring to them having fun outside.
“They’re fine, Jace is already getting ready to tease you.”
“Tss!”
“Are you happy, Zeus?” I look at her looking at me.
“I am, Dane. I never thought I would get to this point.”
“I am happy for you, too. I’ve never seen you happy like this before.” She tapped my shoulder and seat beside me.
“Dane, I wished you all the happiness as well.” I see her smile. The genuine smile and even her eyes were shining. “Wait, are you inspired?”
“Hmph, I am happy, I mean always happy,” she simply replied.
“You’re happy because of who?”
“What, do I really need a reason to be happy?
“Come on, Dane. Tell me.”
“Tss, not the right time. I’ll go with the flow first.” Even if she doesn’t say I know it’s Wallace. “Let’s go outside. Everyone is waiting. Yara is sleeping.” I nodded as she stood up and came out.
I look at Yara. I don’t know but I have this feeling that I don’t want to go out. It’s like I don’t want to leave her anymore. It was as if I was afraid of losing her. After what happened, I think I suddenly became anxious when it came to her.All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
“Zeus, you can join with your friends. Don’t worry, she’s fine. She’s ok and nothing bad will happen. I’ll assure you.” Keisha tapped my shoulder.
“I’m worried,” I said nervously. “You know that —– fuck, I can’t explain.”
“I know, I understand your fear. But I am here. I won’t leave her.”
“Thanks, Kei, thank you for everything.”
“Not a big deal? I know that aside from you are my cousin—-” She winked. “—–I know that you will bequeath this million devices to me now that Yara is ok. Unless you have a plan to build a clinic.”
“Take everything with you. I’m nervous about those.” She laughed harder because of what I said. “Hey, don’t laugh too loud.” I look at Yara who is still sound asleep.
“She’s on pills so she won’t wake up. Go ahead and go with your friends.”
“Are you sure she will be ok?” She took my hand.
“Zeus, remove your anxiety. Calm down and relax. She’s ok and definitely ok. Ok?”
“Thanks.”
“All right, everything is waiting.” And she pushed me out.
“The in love is coming out.” I glared at Jace but they all laughed.
“Don’t bully him first, Jace. Just now he cry,” Phoenix said.
“Yeah, feel sorry for him and his eyes are still swollen, his nose is still blocked,” Blaze seconded.
“You’re animals,” I hissed and sat beside Dane.
“Zeus, are you happy?” Jace asked me with a goofy smile. Even the ladies who sit beside their husbands are like that.
“Don’t talk to me, Jace. I’ll throw you that bottle.”
“I am asking.”
“Don’t ask.”
“You really are a loverboy. It’s true what Dylan said you’re our loverboy.”
“Shut up, sucker.” But he just laughed which annoy me.
“Your girlfriend is strong, Zeus. She crossed over to the afterlife, just to let you realize that you love her.” I look at Maggie when she says that.
“Like Margot, I waited a little longer before admitting that we would have children again.” Jace pouted like a child.
“You’re an accidental man. It’s a pity you didn’t—-.”
“Maggie,” Margot scolded her sister.
“Knock on the woods. Later, your fellow demons will hear that I’m going to die,” Jace complained.
“Love,” Blaze called to the wife and looked at the table.
“Knock knock on the woods.” Simultaneously knocking on Maggie’s desk. “Old but still believe in superstitions.”
“Even though, you’re still a demon.”
“Jace,” Blaze scolded.
“Just telling the truth.”
“I’m okay with the demon, Jace. Rather than a crazy if you don’t want me to hit you with that bottle.”
“Hey-hey, stop!” Margot joined the conversation. “We should have to celebrate. Today is the twin’s third month and we should celebrate Yara’s survival.”
“Yes, finally, Zeus can build his family as well,” Hailey said and placed her head on Phoenix’s shoulder.
“You, Dane?” Phoenix asked.
“Me, what about me?”
“When will you form yours?” Dane looked at us all.
“Well, when the right time comes.”
“When’s the right time? Aren’t you a sister of Dylan?” Maggie said. “Didn’t Dylan tell you that the timing is right when it’s right for you? If it’s not wrong then it’s wrong timing.”
“Really?” we all ask.
“Didn’t Dylan tell you that?” It was like we were fools simultaneously shaking at Maggie’s question while Dane laughed.
“Love, maybe Dylan only said that to us. Because he told me that when he told me to kidnap you and take you to Baguio.” Blaze said
“Ah, ok. Let’s just have a drink. Cheers !!” she shouted and everyone raised their glasses.
“For Zeus and Yara!” Jace shouted.
“For Dane to have a love life!” Phoenix shouted as we laughed.
“For our family to always be happy!” Blaze said.
“For our children to grow up healthy!” I said.
“For the friendship that no one will leave until old age. For Brother’s Code!” Dane said.
“Cheers!” we simultaneously said and drink.
I can’t be asked for more. I have my friends, and now I have my own family to build.
