His Reluctant Luna

Chapter 27 - Old secrets

Alice (POV) -

"What did you hear?" I asked cautiously.

Savannah pressed her lips and looked down, "everything."

"Damm! " I sighed and rubbed my temple.

"I am sorry, I didn't mean to... I wasn't intruding, Alice. But, now I understand why you are still unmarked." She said in a very placid tone. I could not understand how she was going to take this. As a beta, her loyalties would always lie with her Alpha.

"It's not that simple, Savannah," I sighed.

"Why don't you explain it to me, if you can trust me? I know how to keep a secret." She smiled, it seemed genuine enough.

"How can you keep a secret from your Alpha?"

"What I mean is you can share your issue with me, maybe I can provide you with

a solution to this problem. Lucian and I have been friends for a long time. I know him quite well. I might be able to help." She insisted.

For a moment, I wondered did Savannah and Lucian date. But that thought seemed stupid. He had assured me he did not date, anyone from the pack except Eliza, so my suspicion was misplaced.

"Alright, let us take a seat. I will explain everything." I spoke.

Lucian (POV) -

The meeting of the Alphas had been completely useless. The 6 Alphas argued nonstop, refusing to listen. Rick suggested putting a team together to look for the rogues, but Carson was furious, he objected to having wolves from other packs on his land. Michelson and Radisson, who had yet, to have a visit from the rogues, we're hesitant to get involved.

"You people know that the rogue attacks will happen on your land eventually, so why not take precautions," I said aloud, trying to convince the thick heads.

"We can handle the external threats easily; our lands are secured enough." Radisson bragged.

"I am sure you can, but how would you handle the internal threats?"

The Alphas were quiet for a moment, thankfully.

"The rogues who kidnapped my mate were from my pack," I said quietly.

As usual, there was an uproar, along with different reactions. Rick stood up with

his betas ready to attack. My Betas responded likewise.

"Wait....what! Did you find your mate? "Asked Carson, looking incredulous.

I nodded at him.

"Just shut up, all of you!" I shouted. It was odd, as I was the youngest Alpha present there, yet these grown men were behaving worse than toddlers.

"Rick, I did not kidnap your sister, nor did I order it, I am in no mood to fight with you," I said looking at Rick. He nodded at his Betas, who slumped back in their positions.

"Now listen! Everyone, just a few days back I stumbled upon my mate, Alice Anderson. Rick's sister."

A few Alphas gasped. I ignored them.

"She was kidnapped by a few rogues and rescued by me. Those rogues were runway wolves from my pack. I am sure you will find a similar pattern in your packs if you investigate. Some young wolves are getting misguided by someone, and they are turning rogue."

"But why would young wolves do that. My pack is well-disciplined. Maybe yours isn't." Said the Alpha Adam Connor. For some reason, I never liked him.

I glared at him.

"Your discipline is useless when someone external has been influencing them." "What do you mean?" Connor asked.

"It means our youngsters are being lured into working for someone, they are being manipulated and brainwashed into turning rouge," I explained.

"What rubbish! How can someone lure our pack members? This is preposterous. I don't believe you." Adam insisted.

"It doesn't matter whether you believe me or not, this is precisely what's going on. I have done my share of investigation."

I paused.

"I sent teams out to investigate the place they were mostly spotted, and most likely living, it looked legit. The teams found the remains of several human females buried behind a rundown hotel."

"They have been hunting humans?" Rick asked aghast.

"Yes, it is hard to get hold of werewolf females, so they have been trying to build a pack for themselves with human women. Most of them don't survive." I said solemnly.

There was a stunned silence in the room.

"But why would they do that?"

"Several reasons. The youngsters disliked their jobs, hated listening to the older seniors always telling them what to do. Having to follow too many rules. They want to move up in the rank quickly. So, this is their way of rebelling. It's easy to misguide these kids." I finished explaining.

"You have any idea who could be that person?" Rick asked.

I turned towards him; he was the only one who was understanding me. The rest were still sceptical. I could sense it.noveldrama

"I am not sure; I am still investigating. It could be anyone, even one of us." I looked pointedly at everyone. A few of the Alphas bristled.

That led to another round of arguments. After an hour, Adam and his betas stormed out as usual. Without Adam, the remaining Alphas decided to keep each other notified, increase the security, and retired for the day. I ran my hand through my hair and slid back in my chair. I was exhausted and still sleep-deprived.

"So, Rick's sister is your mate? Do you know about her mother?" Alpha Michelson whispered to me.

I opened my eyes and turned to face him. I glanced at Rick, making sure he was out of the earshot.

"What about her mother?"

"Well, she was a witch!" He said conspiratorially.

I raised an eyebrow, "She was a human, a keeper to be precise, as far I know."

He shook his head.

"She was a witch and a perfect one. She used to make a few spells for us. That is how she met her mate. Rick's Father."

Werewolves sometimes did get unusual mates, even interspecies, like a cat shape-shifter. But those were rare. Witches are also humans with the capability to do magic, though a truly born was rare nowadays. A wolf having a witch mate was even rarer. I wondered why Alice never mentioned it.

"Interesting!" I replied, "but that doesn't change anything, she is still mine."

The older man gave a sly smile.

"I miss that feeling of being a newly mated wolf, the love, and possession you feel for your mate is so......magical."

He looked ahead as if recalling his old times. Michelson was a good guy, old and reliable. I gave a goofy smile.

"Your mate is special; daughters of the witches inherit their power since your mate is a half-witch. She might not be that powerful, but she is still special. Her blood would bring power to their mate, many Alphas were interested in Rick's sister." He said, raising an eyebrow meaningfully.

A growl escaped from my chest. It meant Alice was not safe. I could not tolerate others coveting my mate.

"Alpha Michelson, what else do you know about my mate's mother?" I asked. "She was a beautiful woman if your mate is anything like her. She would be a beauty. Even more, a reason to keep her safe." He roared in laughter.

I tried to keep my wolf down, who was on the edge.

"Her coven leader was not happy, I heard when she left to become Luna of the

Jade Moon pack. But Alpha Sheldon managed it." He replied.

I had several questions swirling in my head, and the only person who could answer them was Rick.
