Chapter 24
Chapter 24
By the time Whitney had almost finished her work, it was time for her appointment with Felix. Thus, she kept Felix and Simon waiting for over 20 minutes. Simon looked unhappy when Whitney came out of the office, but Felix seemed much more forgiving.
“Ms. Collins, you’ve been late twice. You don’t seem to take this contract seriously,” Simon said, deliberately making things difficult for
Whitney.
Whitney looked at him disdainfully before saying, “It’s my fault this time. I’m sorry. But, Mr. Thompson, is that what you think?
“Of course not!” Felix interjected, rolling his eyes at Simon before continuing, “Waiting for you is an honor. I hope you’ll consider the opportunity. A woman of your talent and beauty should amplify her presence in this industry.”
Whitney lowered her head as she opened the contract on the desk and read it carefully. Once done, she handed it to Cindy and asked her to read every detail.
Felix promptly inquired, “Ms. Collins, what do you think?”
Whitney offered a faint smile and said, “I am interested in working with you, but…”
When Simon saw that Whitney wanted to make another request, he was even more dissatisfied. “Others are eager to fawn over Mr. Thompson, but Whitney is so ungrateful, he thought. “Ms. Collins, not everyone has such an excellent opportunity to work with Mr. Thompson,” he snapped.
Hearing Simon’s words, Whitney immediately put down the pen in her hand and looked at him with a smile. Felix, unhappy with Simon’s conduct, tersely ordered, “Simon, enough.”
Whitney could sense Simon’s discontent with her, but she didn’t understand why. In fact, her ultimate goal now was not to enter the entertainment industry but to make Quincey experience the feeling of not getting what she wanted, just like how her beloved man had loved Quincey back then.
Whitney picked up the pen again and said, “Mr. Thompson, we can cooperate, but I have a request. I don’t actually want to enter the entertainment industry, but I want to make an album without showing my face in the video.”
“Well…” Felix trailed off. He was in a dilemma. After all, there had never been such a thing before. From a business standpoint, it was impractical. By showcasing Whitney’s beauty, the album would likely achieve greater sales. However, if he refused her condition, the opportunity to produce the album, and any potential sales, would vanish.
Simon reckoned Felix would disagree. He was dissatisfied with Whitney, thinking she was unreliable. He didn’t understand what else about Whitney was worth investing in except for her face.
Felix thought for a moment before finally nodding. He said, “Okay, let’s do it as you want.”
This surprised several people present, especially Simon and Whitney. Although Whitney knew he would eventually agree, she didn’t expect it to be so soon. Also, whether he agreed or not wasn’t important.
“But it doesn’t make sense, Mr. Thompson. This is not good for our company and not what you usually do,” Simon said. He looked at Whitney more skeptically.
Hearing what Simon said, Felix was even angrier. He scolded, “Who’s the boss? You? It’s up to me.”

Simon couldn’t understand how Felix became like this. At the thought of those rumors, Simon believed them more and became anxious. “Mr. Thompson, is Whitney really your mistress? Otherwise, how can you agree to her request?” he asked.
Felix was both stunned and angry. He wanted to slap Simon’s face. “What nonsense are you talking about? You’ve worked for me for so many years. Don’t you know what kind of person I am?” he scolded.
Whitney looked at them helplessly, musing, ‘Simon heard those rumors. No wonder he’s so hostile to me. But it’s not his fault. After all, Felix has a good reputation in the industry. It would be bad if there were rumors about him because of me. But this is also an opportunity to ask Felix to look into Quincey and see how she will react
“Simon, you think too highly of me. Don’t you know Mr. and Mrs. Thompson love each other very much? Do you think I can get in between them? Even if you don’t believe in me, you should believe in Mr. Thompson,” Whitney said.
Seeing Whitney was calm and Felix looked disappointed, Simon suddenly realized he was wrong. He whispered, “Was it just a rumor?”
Felix was so angry that he didn’t want to talk to Simon. Simon knew he had misunderstood Whitney, but Whitney nodded and smiled back at
him.
“Where did you hear about this?” Felix asked, slapping the table angrily. He didn’t expect someone to be so bold to spread rumors about him. After all, nobody dared disrespect him in this industry.
He immediately instructed Simon to investigate this matter, saying, “Find out who spread the rumors. We will pursue this matter to the end. And issue an announcement right now to make Whitney’s identity public. Tell everyone why I chose her and let them know she’s worth our
choice.”
Simon nodded. Knowing he was wrong about Whitney, he worked harder to complete the task.
He made the announcement and then found a video of Whitney’s music given by Felix. That voice made him understand why Felix was willing to lower his dignity to sign a contract with Whitney because Whitney wasn’t just a pretty face.
As soon as the announcement came out, everyone searched for Whitney’s music. Her voice and beauty made almost everyone her fans. Nobody believed a woman with talent and beauty like Whitney would rely on someone else to climb the social ladder. No one believed those
rumors anymore.
Someone commented: [Those who spread the rumors are not right in the head. How could they say such things? What a jakel]
Someone else wrote: [That person must be jealous of Whitney. I’m a woman, and I’m fascinated by her. How could such a person rely on
others?)
Another wrote: [I’m not going to say anything. I’ll switch from being a critic to a fan. Don’task me why. I don’t care. Don’t bully my idol again.]
Everyone turned to Whitney. Looking at her phone, Cindy nodded in satisfaction. She said, “You’re amazing! The number of your fans reached 1 million once your video was released. You will be popular.” Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
“Isn’t that what Felix wants? I gained popularity immediately after signing the contract. The album will sell,” Whitney replied. She put down the laptop and turned around with a proud and troubled look. She continued, “But becoming popular is also troublesome. It’s inconvenient to even go out for a meal now.”
Cindy rolled her eyes at Whitney. Still, she liked her proud and confident look now, which showed her true self.
