Chapter 7
Sure enough, the moment our parents' voices reached the hallway outside the ward, Queenie rushed out. She threw herself into my mother's arms and sobbed.
At first, my parents were stunned upon seeing me hospitalized. But soon, their gazes turned cold and sharp.
"Stephanie, all you did was donate a little blood. Why are you acting sick and staying in the hospital? Hurry up and discharge
yourself! Get home and cook for your sister!"
After a round of scolding, as if that wasn't enough, Queenie leaned in and whispered something into my mother's ear. My
mother's expression immediately darkened.
"And I order you to apologize to Queenie right now! Why would you say such hurtful things to her?"
Hearing this, I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
At this point, I had completely given up on them.
"Why should I apologize? What exactly did I say that was wrong? Queenie can do whatever she wants, but I'm not allowed to talk about it? If she knows I hate her, then why does she keep appearing in front of
"Also, Henry is my husband. As long as we're not divorced, she has no business clinging to my husband! And as for you all, since
you're so biased toward Queenie and love her so much, then there's no need to acknowledge me anymore. I know you all despise me anyway, so let's just cut ties completely!"
Everyone in the room was stunned. They didn't expect me to say something so "rebellious".
My father's face turned red with rage as he charged toward me. He was ready to hit me.
"If you dare lay a hand on me, I'll call the police and report the domestic abuse. We're already in a hospital. It'll be incredibly easy to get an injury report."
My father froze in place, not daring to take another step forward.
My mother, on the other hand, erupted into a fit of cursing.
"How did I give
birth to such a selfish and vicious daughter? You think you can just cut ties with us? Without us, you wouldn't
even have survived until now!"
Thinking back to my childhood, I remembered how I was often left hungry,
having to depend on my parents' moods and
Queenie's whims just to get a meal.
If it
weren't for a kind neighbor who occasionally helped me, I wasn't sure if I would have even survived in good health.
Henry interrupted my train of thought as he persuaded me. "Honey, we're all family. There's no need to make things this tense.
Just apologize, and let's move on from this."
I glanced at him.
This man had never stood by my side-
not when he forced me to donate blood, and not now when everyone was ganging up on
1. me.
Queenie once again stood before me arrogantly as if she had already won.
"Yeah, hurry up and apologize to me. Otherwise, they won't care about you anymore!"
I laughed, tilting my head back and looking at Queenie.
"You just love, stealing my things, don't you? You like Henry? Fine. I'll divorce him and give him to you. But I want a legal document cutting all blood ties with the Reed family? From now on, I will have nothing to do with you people."
The room fell into a dead silence. It was the kind that was suffocating.
Henry was the first one to speak.
He looked like an idiot. His
voice broke as he stammered, "Honey, you want to... divorce me?"
On the other hand, Queenie tried to act as if she wanted to refuse.
"Well? This is your one and only chance. You better take it!"
Of course, Queenie wouldn't refuse. She was tempted.
Our parents had always
adored her, and they wouldn't have the heart to reject her request.
When I finally got the legal document, the light in Henry's eyes seemed to shatter completely.
He pitifully reached out and tried to hold my hand.
"Honey, you're not really going to divorce me, right? I don't agree with this. I won't agree!"
However, Queenie clung to Henry affectionately and comforted him. "She must have her reasons for doing this. Let's not bother
her."
At the same time, she anxiously urged me, "You've got what you wanted, so hurry up!"
Smiling, I pulled out a divorce agreement from
my bag and signed my name on it without hesitation.
Henry suddenly lunged forward. He wanted to snatch
the divorce papers and tear them apart.
But he froze in place when I said coldly, "If you destroy that divorce agreement, I'll take this to court instead. At worst, I'll make this a huge scandal. Let's see whose reputation gets ruined!"
His hand stiffened in midair.
After a long pause, he put his hand down powerlessly.
"Honey..."
"Mr. Palmer, please address me by my name."
He pressed his lips tightly together.
Seeing that I wasn't backing down in the slightest, he had no choice but to call me by my name.
"Stephanie, I won't divorce you. That's not up to you."
I tossed the signed
divorce agreement to Queenie and then ordered them to leave. "Get out. I need to rest."
Henry didn't want to go, but Queenie dragged him out of the ward forcefully.
Right before they left, I overheard their argument.
"Why should I marry you? If it
weren't for you, Stephanie would et
never have divorced me! And
besides, I love Stephanie, notyou,
Queenie!"
I couldn't help but chuckle.
His so-called love was worthless.noveldrama
