Chapter 3467 An Invitation From My Master
From behind the large tree, a figure slowly emerged-a middle-aged man with a neatly trimmed mustache. His face carried an expression of admiration as he looked at Matthew.
"Sir, you've been following me for a while now. What exactly do you want?" Matthew's tone was cold, his words laced with an icy edge.
The man smiled politely. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm a disciple of the Marine Corps. My master would like to meet with you, Mr. Larden. Would you be willing to spare some time?" Matthew regarded him impassively. "I don't know your master."noveldrama
"That's no problem," the man replied, maintaining his polite smile. "Surely, you've heard of the Marine Corps?"
Matthew nodded. How could he, the leader of Virtue Hall, not know?
"My master holds considerable influence within the Marine Corps. With just a word, he could make you one of its disciples." The man's words, though devoid of mockery, carried a faint air of arrogance. Matthew's eyes gleamed with mild amusement. "Fine. Take me to your master."
After hearing Matthew agree, the man's smile widened. "Serving under my master is a privilege most can only dream of. You're quite fortunate to have caught his attention."
Matthew said nothing, simply following the man. He was curious to see what kind of immense power this so-called master wielded.
They arrived at a bamboo grove by the island's shore. The man stopped outside the grove and gestured toward a path. "My master is waiting inside. You may go in." Matthew nodded and walked along the indicated path.
The bamboo grove was quiet except for the chirping of insects. Suddenly, Matthew's hands shot up, intercepting something mid-air. Hisssss!
A bamboo viper wriggled furiously in his grasp, its venomous fangs
bared. Matthew had caught it precisely at its vulnerable spot, immobilizing it. Without hesitation, he flong the snake back into the grove and continued walking.
The narrow path gradually widened, opening into a small clearing. At its center sat a young man holding a jade flask, sipping leisurely. When the young man noticed Matthew's approach, a spark of interest flashed across his otherwise lazy expression. "So, you're Matteo?" "Yes," Matthew replied simply.
"You know, I didn't think you'd actually show up," the young man remarked, a smile spreading across his face. He gestured for Matthew to sit.
The only available seat in the clearing was directly across from the young man. Without fuss, Matthew took the offered seat.
"How dare you sit across from me!" the young man suddenly snapped, his face twisting with anger. He picked up the jade flask and hurled it at Matthew.
Smack!
Matthew caught the flask effortlessly, his expression calm as he regarded the man.
What's with this guy? Is he crazy? Matthew wondered silently.
Lasa
Seeing Matthew catch the flask with ease, the young man's anger evaporated as quickly as it had appeared. Abroad grin returned to his face. Matteo, I've heard about your exploits. You're quite impressive. Here's the deal: become my subordinate, and I'll guarantee your place in the Marine Corps. In fact, even the Six Grand Halls would be within your reach. What do you say?"
Matthew studied the young man, amused by his overconfidence. "And what if I want to join Virtue Hall? Can you make that happen?"
The young man waved his hand
dismissively. "Virtue Hall's leader Matthew Larson, is a good friend of
mine. We're as close as brothers.
One word from me, and you be in."
