Silence filled the phone. Finally, Lennon mumbled, "Uh, well... have you noticed... if your mom seems a little down lately?"

Lennon sputtered, speechless. 'This little brat!'

Another awkward silence stretched before Lennon took a deep breath. "What about your new dad? Getting along okay?"

"Yeah, we're great," Alexis replied nonchalantly, flipping through a comic book. "We hit it off right away."

Colin's action-packed comics were exactly his jam!

"Hey, just hypothetically," Lennon started cautiously, "what if your new dad isn't exactly who you think he is? Like, not good to your mom? I mean, if he's not a good guy, you need to look after your mom, okay?"

Alexis raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "Excuse me, but you're in no position to meddle in our business. And seriously? Who could be worse than you?"

Alexis had picked up bits and pieces about Lucy and Lennon's past from the servants at home.

"Mr. Belcourt, you're the last one who should be worried about Mom," he added, emphasizing his last name with another jab.

After hanging up, Alexis climbed out of bed and saw a woman standing quietly in the doorway, seemingly for a while.

"Hand it over," Lucy said, her eyes calm and unwavering. She extended her hand towards Alexis.

Alexis pursed his lips and instinctively hid the phone behind his back. "Mr. Gray gave it to me."

"You're just a little kid, five years old!" Lucy's voice was ice cold. "You shouldn't be using a phone and definitely not talking to him."

Alexis turned pale. He knew his mom must have heard him talking to Lennon. "Mom, I'm not friends with him! Did you even listen? I was sticking up for you and gave him a piece of my mind!"

Lucy scoffed and kept her hand outstretched. "It's not your job to stick up for me. Now give me the phone."

Seeing the resolve in her eyes, Alexis finally relented, handing over the phone with a pout. "Mom, don't worry. If you don't want me talking to him, I won't."

Lucy gave a slight nod, took the phone, and noticed it was a new model from a foreign brand. She couldn't deny Colin was kind and generous, spoiling her and Alexis rotten.

Yawning, she led Alexis to wash up and casually asked, "What did he say to you?" "He wanted to know what I'd do if Mr. Gray wasn't nice to you," Alexis answered honestly.

Lucy paused while squeezing toothpaste, her expression hardening. "Hypocrite!" she sneered.

No one had hurt her worse than Lennon. After all this time, he had the nerve to pretend to care in front of their son? Disgusting!

Meanwhile, sunlight streamed uncomfortably bright through the windows of the second-floor bedroom in the charming villa. Cherise, still groggy, instinctively burrowed deeper into Damien's embrace.

A woman's voice suddenly pierced the morning calm, echoing from downstairs.

"Why are you getting so worked up? It was just a misunderstanding!" the voice bellowed. "I only took your call to help you! Quit being petty, will you? So upset for what?"

The woman's tirade continued, her voice dripping with exasperation. "You're such a baby! I spent all night looking after you! If I knew you were gonna be a jerk about it, I wouldn't have bothered feeling bad for you!"

Now fully woken by the commotion, Cherise scrunched her nose in annoyance. She buried her head deeper into Damien's arm, muttering, "Ugh, so loud...annoying..."
