Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 898

A cold, automated message echoed from the other side: "The number you have dialed is not answering..." Mallie's face flushed with embarrassment, but she wasn't about to throw in the towel just yet. She dialed again. After four or five attempts, she was still met with nothing but silence.

Looking up, she caught sight of Selena's lips curving into a slight, knowing smile. Nearly trembling with frustration, Mallie snapped, "Selena, are you making fun of me? Don't get too smug. Mr. Abraham is just busy, not ignoring me on purpose."

"Is that so?" Selena replied, pulling out her own phone. She dialed Abraham's number and hit the speaker button, placing the phone casually on the table.

After only three rings, Abraham's deep voice came through, tinged with surprise and a hint of delight. "Selena, what a surprise to hear from you! Is there something you need?"

His voice was gentle, even carrying a slight chuckle. Selena lazily lifted her gaze to Mallie, whose face had turned pale in an instant. Selena spoke coolly, "Nothing in particular. I just ran into your little sweetheart Mallie while shopping. She looks a bit like me, and I don't particularly like that."noveldrama

"Is that so," Abraham said, seemingly unfazed. He seemed to understand women well enough to know that just like they dislike wearing the same dress, they wouldn't be thrilled about sharing the same face. "I'll have Levi inform Mallie to stay out of your way. Does that satisfy you?"

Selena chuckled softly, "You're quite heartless, aren't you? This Mallie has been with you for quite a while, hasn't she?"

"Selena, you should know, when you find something good, why settle for less? My promise to you still stands. If you want, there will be no other women by my side."

Selena didn't pursue the conversation further, "I have things to do, I'm hanging up."

"Alright, see you next time."

As the call ended, Mallie's previous bravado had vanished. She slumped against the couch, cold sweat beading on her forehead. She was painfully aware of how Abraham felt. Yet, she was unwilling to accept it. She always believed if she just tried harder, she could change the situation. With one phone call, Selena shattered her dreams.

She loved Abraham deeply, yet he treated her as if she were invisible. Like a tissue to be discarded after use. Like a worn-out shoe to be tossed aside.

Mallie clutched her stomach, tears streaming uncontrollably. She didn't want to lose face in front of Selena, but all her sorrow overwhelmed her, beyond her control. Selena watched her quietly for a moment and then offered a tissue.

Mallie slapped it away forcefully, "I don't need your fake sympathy."

Holt, standing by, bristled with anger. "What's wrong with you? It's Abraham who let you down, so why are you taking it out on our Miss? If you have the guts, go confront your man."

"Oh, wait, you think Abraham is your man? In his eyes, you're just one of many women, insignificant. How ridiculous."

Holt's words were harsh but painfully true. Mallie was already hurting, and this only added salt to her wounds, making her even more miserable. She bit her lip hard, "So, did you come here today just to laugh at me?"

Selena couldn't be bothered with her self-pity, knowing some women will never face their harsh realities. She laid out her terms, "You can stay with Abraham, get rid of this child, keep trying to please him, and wait for the day he tires of you and kicks you out."

"Or, agree to my terms. I'll ensure the safety of you and your child. Instead of waiting for him to deal with you, take action first. This way, you can keep this child as a hope for the future."
