Chapter 411 We Have Nothing To Talk About
Chapter 411 We Have Nothing To Talk About
Rachel had really no appetite today. And now that she saw and smelled all the food on the table, she felt her stomach churning. She couldn't eat anything at all.
On the other hand, Celia was enjoying her food so much. She picked up a scallop, dipped it in mustard sauce, and put it into her mouth. Squinting her eyes while chewing leisurely, a satisfied expression surfaced on her face.
But when she noticed that Rachel was only sitting motionlessly, she asked, "Rachel, why are you not eating? Why are you just staring at me like that? I feel quite embarrassed."
"Oh, really?" Rachel teased her while picking up a scallop with her chopsticks and put it in her mouth. However, before she could even chew it, her stomach felt sick. She quickly put down her chopsticks and rushed to the bathroom.
"Rachel, are you okay?"
Celia asked as she grabbed several tissues from the table and caught up with her.
Rachel weakly pressed her hands on the sink for support. She had never vomited like this for a long time, so she felt uncomfortable all over her body. She tried her best to calm down. Celia stood behind her, gently patting her back. When she saw that Rachel had calmed down a little, she hurriedly handed her a tissue. But seeing Rachel's pale face, she panicked and asked, "Rachel, shall we go to the hospital? You're now on the second quarter of your pregnancy, aren't you? Do you feel anything strange or uncomfortable?"
Seeing the nervousness on Celia's face, Rachel wanted to say that she was fine, but she really didn't have the strength to speak.
She held Celia's hand to comfort her. After a while, she said with a weak smile, "I'm fine. Maybe I'm just a little tired because I went to the hospital for my prenatal checkup today."
"I'll drive you home now so you can rest." Celia couldn't help feeling regretful as she supported Rachel out of the bathroom.
Rachel nodded. But after thinking for a while, she said slowly, "Let's go to your house instead so I can rest immediately. Your house is nearer."
The truth was, she didn't want to go home yet because she didn't want to see Jack now.
Meanwhile, Jack had just driven back home. From his car, he could see that the living room was dark. He frowned and looked at the time. It was only six o'clock in the evening.
As soon as he entered the house, there was only a faint light coming from the kitchen. He went there and saw that Julie was busy making some dumplings.
He asked in a low voice, "Where is Rachel?"
"Mr. Fu, you are back." Julie hurriedly put down the dumpling in her hand, turned around, and said, "Miss Shen received a call from her friend before dinner, so she went out. She hasn't come back yet."
His face suddenly darkened. "Which friend?"
"I don't know, Mr. Fu." Julie didn't dare to say anything more. She turned around and continued on making dumplings.
Jack's eyebrows were drawn together tightly as he took out his phone and called Rachel. However, he had tried calling several times, but she didn't answer.
Rachel had been resting in the bed for quite a while now, so she finally felt comfortable. Her phone under the pillow buzzed and vibrated a few times. But when she took it to check, the screen suddenly turned black before she could even see who was calling. The phone ran out of battery.
She shouted to Celia, who was in the living room, "Celia, do you have a charger? My phone is dead."
"Wait. I'll take it there." Celia put down the melon seeds she was eating and looked through her bag. She had already turned her bag upside down, but she couldn't see her charger. She patted her forehead and said shyly, "Rachel, I left my charger in the hospital. I'll get it back now. Wait for me here."
"No, it's okay. Don't bother." Rachel lifted the quilt and got out of the bed. "I'm going home now."
Jack had been calling for more than twenty times when Rachel's phone suddenly turned off.
Walking back and forth in the living room, he was lost in thought. After thinking for a while, he decided to call Lea. "Where are you now?"
"Why are you asking my wife where she is?" Unexpectedly, Henry's voice came at the other end of the line.
Jack pinched between his eyebrows and said, "Rachel went out and hasn't come back yet. I'm calling her, but her phone is off. I just thought she is with Lea."
"I don't think so. Lea and I brought Rita to the park today. We just came back home," Henry said. "Lea is giving Rita a bath right now. I'll ask her later."
"No need. Thanks."
Jack heaved an irritated sigh. Since Rachel was not with Lea, he couldn't think of anyone else that she might be seeing outside. Feeling anxious, he couldn't just wait for her to come home anymore. So he picked up his car keys and strode to the door. But before he could go out, he heard the sound of a car pulling up at the front door.
Rachel got out of the taxi and walked into the house. Since she was looking downwards, she didn't notice Jack, who suddenly stopped her.
He asked in a cold voice, "Where have you been? Why are you not answering your phone?"
Rachel gave him a cold glare. Every time she saw him, she would remember that woman who looked like her in the restaurant. It made her feel sick.
She walked past him expressionlessly and continued to walk into the room.
Jack grabbed her arm and said through clenched teeth, "Rachel, I'm asking you. Can't you even answer me?"
She tried to get away from him, but he held her too tightly. She looked at him coldly and snapped, "Let me go!"
His face darkened in an instant. But since he still wouldn't let go of her, she stopped struggling and stood there motionlessly without saying anything.
Julie came out of the kitchen and saw the scene. She wanted to stand between them, but she suddenly realized that she was just a maid in this house. She had no right to interfere with their affairs. So all she could do was sigh and go to her room. Jack felt a little helpless. Looking at Rachel's indifferent expression, he cleared his throat and said, "Rachel, please have a seat. Let's talk."
"We have nothing to talk about."
This time, she used all her strength to shake off his hand. Without looking back, she rushed to the second floor. She had just walked up the stairs a few steps when she suddenly heard something break and fall to the floor.
Although she didn't see it, she knew that Jack had smashed the decorations on the door.
Jack stared at Rachel's back. He felt so angry that he couldn't help punching the wall. Dark lights flashed through his narrowed eyes. After a while, he left without even looking back.
The next morning, Julie had already finished cooking breakfast, so she went out of the kitchen to call Rachel upstairs. But she was surprised to see that Rachel was already downstairs. She couldn't help asking, "Miss, are you going out today?"
"Yes. I'm going to work."
Last night, Rachel called James and told him her intention of going back to work. Without hesitation, he arranged an administrative position for her in the hospital.
Rachel thought that it would be better to find a leisurely job to kill time than to stay at home, thinking nonsense. Julie took her bag and put it aside. After hesitating for a while, she asked, "Have you already told Mr. Fu that you are going to work?"
"No." Rachel walked to the dining room. "If he asks, you can tell him."
But she didn't notice that Jack was already going downstairs and overheard their conversation.
Their relationship had really gone worst to the point that she didn't even want to tell him personally that she was going to work.
Jack's eyes narrowed and darkened. Blue veins protruded at the back of his hands as he clenched his fists. He then turned around and went back upstairs. As soon as he entered his room, he picked
up his phone and typed a message.
Even in her sleep, Scarlett still held her phone tightly. So when it vibrated, she immediately woke up and sat on the bed. The moment she read the message, she suddenly jumped up and screamed.
Her mother, who was outside her door and about to wake her up, heard her noise. She hurriedly opened the door and came in. "What happened? Why are you jumping like crazy on your bed early in the morning?"
"Mom!" Scarlett jumped off the bed and ran to her mother. She put her arms around her mother's shoulders and continued bouncing like a child.

Her mother struggled to get rid of her grip. Rubbing her temples, she frowned and said helplessly, "Silly girl! What's wrong with you?"
"Mom, I am going to have a rich husband soon!" Scarlett tilted her head, her enchanting eyes were full of excitement.
Five years ago, her father's business went bankrupt, which caused their family to be immersed in debts. Since then, she promised herself that she would marry a rich man to save them. That was one of the reasons why she always joined her cousin in attending various banquets and events. She was hoping to find a rich husband in one of those events.
Her mother's face lit up upon hearing what Scarlett said. Grabbing her hands excitedly, she asked, "What does he do? How many assets and companies does he have?"
"Mom, you'll know it soon."
As soon as Rachel entered her new office, James came over. He laughed brightly and asked, "Rachel, how many months are you pregnant?"
"Almost four months," Rachel answered. She stood up, poured a glass of water, and handed it to him. She smiled awkwardly and said, "Uncle James, I'm sorry to bother you again." Last time, she left her work without even saying a word to him. This time, he called him to help her get a job in the hospital again. She felt really sorry for everything she had done to him.
James replied in a deep voice, "You don't have to apologize. Since your parents passed away, I have seen you grow up, and I've treated you like my own daughter. As a father, how can I not help you when you need me?"
Rachel was greatly moved upon listening to James' words quietly.
She lowered her head and said sincerely, "Uncle James, I will always remember all the good things you have done to me as long as I live. But for now, I feel like I have entered a dead end, and I don't know how to get out temporarily."
The Fu family had been so kind to her since she was a child, so she didn't want to ask for their explanation. She didn't even want any
compensation from them for what they had done to her parents. She just didn't want to see them.
If she saw them, it would only remind her of everything that Linda had told her. The pain in her heart was too much that she wouldn't want to cross paths with either Tracy or Jonathan ever again.
James heaved a deep sigh and asked Rachel to sit down. "As a witness, I should say something too. At that time, Jonathan was indeed too anxious. But he didn't expect that such a tragedy would happen to your family, especially to your parents. I believe that he would never force your parents to pay their debt in such a hurry. Many years have already passed, Rachel. It may sound blunt, but I
think he also did his best to make it up to you. I know, no matter how much hatred you have in your heart, you can still forgive him if you really want to."
