Chapter 46 Framed by the Vicious Stepmother, or Insignificant Cannon Fodder
Nora wanted to meet Natalie in the hotel suit.
Nora said that she would just discuss business with someone that day and thus decided to meet
Natalie here for convenience.
Natalie stroked her chin.
Normally, those vicious stepmother, or insignificant cannon fodders, would love to choose the hotel as
the place for meeting when they wanted to frame things up.
Was it because the hotel was greatly hidden and thus suitable for doing something bad,
Or because the author couldn't think of other places but hotels based on his limited imagination?
"All right. The hotel suit then."
To go or not to go? Certainly she would go there.
She wanted to get back something belonging to the original owner.
Nora, who was a mad woman, might really throw them away. After all, she was rather wicked and was
not afraid of being punished in the end.
Naturally, Natalie would not meet Nora empty-handed without any preparation. She called the front
desk of the Crystal Hotel immediately.
"Hello, will you book 2506 and 2510, these two double-rooms for Thursday and Friday for me please?"
The room number Nora gave her was 2508!
She just booked the rooms on its both sides.
"All right. Please wait a moment!"
"How would you like to pay?"
"I will arrive at the hotel and pay the bill before noon on Thursday. Just reserve them for me."
Natalie hung up the phone and then called Brock Page, the head of Kendrick's bodyguards.
Brock used to be an agent, having worked for the CIA for 10 years.
He was expert at monitoring and intelligence analysis.
Of course, for the outsiders, he was just a bodyguard who looked good at fighting.
Very few people knew who he really was.
Kendrick also concealed Brock's identity deliberately.
Natalie had read the novel before and thus knew the truth.
Kendrick was indeed a mogul. Those who were around him all hid their lights under a bushel.
Even Nigel, who looked rather young and a bit childish, was a graduate of Faymany Institute of
Technology and a top talent in the field of data analysis.
Brock was quite surprised as he received Natalie's call.
"I'm afraid I need your help." Natalie said without preamble.
"Please move on, Mrs. Ramsey."
"From now on, just monitor everything happening in room 2508 of Crystal hotel for me, immediately."
Brock didn't give any reply, "..."
"There is no need to report it to Mr. Ramsey." Natalie said, "He is on a business trip somewhere else. I
will tell him about it personally on Friday.""
He remained silent.
"Look, my request is within your duties." She said word by word, "You will not only protect Mr. Ramsey,
but also me, his wife. I am making this request to you out of my own security reasons! Do you have any
other questions?"
"At your service!" Brock compromised, "I will do everything as you order."
...
On Thursday night, an edited recording was sent from Brock.
He reported to her, "The invalid blank recording was deleted and the rest was compressed. It will take
about an hour to listen. They were rather cautious as they used gestures many times during the
conversation. For now I have no idea what they are going to do."
It must be something bad.
Otherwise, they wouldn't do it in such a secretive way.
Natalie put on the earphones to listen to the recordings.
She didn't get much useful information.
But she found Nora's voice. It was not that clear.
She could only hear some words vaguely like "hypnosis", "injection" and "live broadcast".
The connection of these words was just enough to send shivers down Natalie's spine.
She folded her arms, with coldness in her face.
"Well, Nora!"
"No matter what you want to do, after this week, I'm sure that you will regret being alive."
...
Natalie arrived at room 2508 on time at 2:00 pm on Friday.
She raised her hand and knocked on the door.
It was Nora who came out and opened the door.
"You are alone?"
"Aren't you alone?" asked Natalie.
"Of course I am!" Nora said hurriedly. Seeing that Natalie stood still at the door, she stretched out her
hand and pulled her in, "Just come in. Why are you standing there?"
Natalie pursed her lips and walked inside.
It was a big room, nothing odd.
"I have brought you what you want." Nora pointed to the box on the sofa and said, "I haven't touched
it."
It was a small wooden box, a bit quaint, with a lock outside.
"It's not something valuable. What's the fuss about?" Nara sneered, and lowered her voice, "Sure
enough, you don't even know the time of day at all. Just look like a petty weenie."
Natalie ignored her sarcasm. As she picked up the box, she weighed and shook it.
She heard the sound of books knocking together.
She put the box down again and asked, "Where is the document signed by Reuben?"
"It is here. Don't you ever push me." Nora said angrily, "Your father is furious with you. Look, how can
you do something like that as a daughter? What's your grievance? How can you disown your sister
because of a little conflict? What did I say before? Well, you are just an ungrateful brat, and you totally
forget our love and care having given you for so many years."
"That's enough!" Natalie interrupted her impatiently, "Stop talking nonsense!"
Nora was speechless.
She stuck out her fingers. As she saw Natalie was so stubborn, she became so angry that she could
say nothing but "you" a few times. Finally she fell on the sofa and then she pushed the document over.
Natalie became delighted as she looked at Nora's reaction.
She pounded the document, "Did I allow you to add conditions?"
How could Nora ask her to pay for the fosterage?
Nora said cheekily, "This kind of money is nothing. Look, we have fed you, clothed you, and let you
study for so many years. Don't you know how much you have spent? You aren't grateful at all, and you
even ask for compensation. You are simply shameless!"
"You took some money from the dowry of the Ramsey family, didn't you?" Natalie threw the document
directly in her face and said, "Ask Reuben to sign the original version and fax over. And..." She
squinted, "The compensation is two hundred thousand dollars. How much are you going to pay then?"
She didn't ask for too much money.
Fifty thousand dollars.
It was all right!
"Eighty thousand dollars, at most." Nora gnashed her teeth.
In the late summer, it was a bit stuffy in the room. Natalie made a fanning motion with her hands. She
looked up, finding that the central air conditioner was on. But the wind was not cool at all.
"Just turn down the air conditioner." Natalie gave her instructions.
"That's the way it works." Nora rolled her eyes. She've had enough. What an arrogant bitch Natalie
was.
"How about having some drink!" After a pause, she said again with a warm tone, "I just took it out of the
refrigerator and haven't opened it yet!"
Natalie's eyes fell on the drink on the coffee table. She looked like a disappointed father talking to his
son, "Then why don't you open it hurriedly and pour some drink for me?"
Nora almost broke the relationship with Natalie.
Natalie looked at her with nonchalant ease and an enigmatic visage.
Nora held back her anger. She poured a glass of orange juice and put some ice cubes from the ice
bucket. And then she pushed the glass to her.
"I don't like orange juice. Give me the milk!"
Nora still stood for it. She poured a glass of milk and put some ice cubes in it.
Natalie picked up the glass and handed it to her mouth. Out of the corner of her eyes she saw Nora's
evil leer, she put down the glass and said, "How much did you just say? Eighty thousand dollars? Well,
it's all right. I always hate making a fuss. Now transfer the money to me then."
"After the milk!" Nora cured her lips, "I'm right here. The money is nothing to me at all." Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
"Money first!" Natalie was determined, "That's what I come here for."
She made a fanning motion with her hands, looking like she was absolutely boiling.
Nora was planning secretly, guessing that Natalie would be unable to bear the heat and thus drink
water. She took a grip on herself and transferred the money directly.
Natalie soon got the notification.
"I have transferred the money to you. From now on, you have nothing to do with the Quinn family. Don't
you even think about coming back and begging for help!" said Nora.
Natalie picked up the glass. As she saw that the ice cubes had melted a little, she put the glass down
and said, "Let's make a bet. Who will be the beggar then?"
Nora wanted to pour the water in the glass directly into Natalie's mouth.
Natalie looked at Nora's ever-changing expressions, but she dared not voice out her discontent. She
sneered at Nora quietly, and then swallowed the milk neat before the ice cubes melted completely.
After a while, she suddenly held her head and shook it, "Oh, I'm so dizzy. What's wrong?"
