My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul

Chapter 1674

Janine's voice was laced with understanding. "You know, I'm quite open-minded. If you have health issues or aren't into women, I'll accept it." Charles' lips twitched in frustration. He was too drained to argue.

Considering it was Janine's birthday, he decided to let it slide for now. He wouldn't even bother confronting Harvey about it.

Aiken unlocked the door with his fingerprint and stepped inside. The room was dark, which surprised him-Wendy should've been home by now. It wasn't her usual bedtime, so she was probably still working late.

It had been half a month since his last visit. If not for realizing how long they'd gone without speaking, he wouldn't have come tonight. He flicked on the lights and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling window.

The apartment's view stretched endlessly, stunning in its beauty. Aiken couldn't help but remember when Wendy first moved in. Back then, they'd often stand by this very window, holding each other close.

They would gaze at the moonlit sky, savoring the quiet moments together. Sometimes, they'd draw the curtains and lose themselves in each other; other times, they simply basked in the silence.

Back then, happiness had felt tangible-right within their grasp. But somewhere along the way, they had grown distant. The closeness they once shared seemed like a memory now.

Pulling out his phone, he dialed Wendy's number, but the call didn't go through.

Was she in an area with no signal? Or had her phone battery died?

Opening their WhatsApp chat, he scrolled to their last conversation from two months ago. Wendy had asked, "Are you coming over today?" He'd replied with just two words. "Not today."

He hadn't explained why, and Wendy hadn't asked. That was how she had always been-never prying, never demanding. If he didn't want to talk, she let it go.

But now...

Aiken realized just how long it had been since they'd had a proper conversation. She'd seemed busier than him lately, and he hadn't thought much of it.

Setting his phone down, he headed to the bathroom.

At first glance, everything seemed normal. His usual toiletries were there, neatly arranged. But Wendy's items were gone a strange heaviness pressed against his chest.

He immediately went to the bedroom.

The bed was neatly made, but the vanity, usually filled with her skincare and makeup, was bare. He froze, his body stiffening as he rushed to open the wardrobe

Panic set in, and he immediately realized what had happened.

He returned to the living room, his mind racing.
