Chapter 1253
Chapter 1253
Mason looked at him, then suddenly asked, “Why won’t any of you tell me what happened seven years ago?”
Liam said indifferently, “It’s not a pleasant experience, and the situation back then was pretty bad. Some things, it’s better to forget than to remember.”
“Was I the passenger in the car that was hit by Celeste’s mother in the accident?”
Liam was taken aback, “Why would you think that?” Then he added, “Your injury wasn’t from a car accident, don’t overthink.”
Just as Mason was about to say something, Celeste came out of the kitchen with the water, “Trisha went to have breakfast. She’ll be back soon.”
Mason took the cup, thanking her.
Liam reached out to take the cup, but Celeste brought it to her lips and took a sip. Seeing him staring at her, she said nonchalantly, “Your water’s in the kitchen. Go get it yourself.”
Liam thought just because they were close, and Celeste thought she could treat him casually.
He got up in disgruntlement and went to the kitchen, only to find a cup of coffee on the table. There was a beautifully drawn heart on the surface of the coffee. Liam’s mood instantly improved – she loved him.
“Mr. Fletcher, you said over the phone that there’s new progress in my mother’s car accident case. What do you mean?”
Mason put down his cup, took out his phone, and showed a picture to Celeste, “Take a look. Do you remember this person?” © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Upon seeing it, Celeste immediately said, “This person used to be our family’s driver. I had hired a detective to look into him before, but this guy is very careful and doesn’t interact with outsiders.”
Mason said, “This man has come to J City. It seems he has a tumor and is receiving chemotherapy at City Hospital.”
Celeste hadn’t come to terms with it yet.
Mason continued, “Tumor treatment is very expensive, but he doesn’t have a job. He’ll definitely have to find a way to get money.”
“You’re saying he might go to Shawn for money?”
“Not Shawn, but Helen. He probably knows a lot of Helen’s secrets. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been sending him money all these years.”
Mason paused, then said, “If the kindergarten stops construction, Helen won’t be able to support him. This guy, for the sake of his own life, will definitely betray her. By then, we might be able to get some information we need from him.”
Upon hearing this, Celeste was instantly invigorated. This was great news.
The kindergarten situation was already giving Helen a headache. If another leech came along, it would add insult to injury.
“Mason, you must keep a close eye on this man. If the time is right, it’s okay to spend some money to buy him out.”
Before Mason could respond, Liam interjected, “You’re quite generous, huh?”
Celeste shot him a glance and said, “I’m just being smart about my money, spending it where it’s needed. You think I’m a tightwad like Nicolas?”
Just as the words slipped out of her mouth, Nicolas’s voice echoed from the foyer, “Letti, is this how you talk about me when I’m not around?”
Celeste was a bit embarrassed, but not too much.
Trisha gently pushed Nicolas away and said, “Don’t speak about my friend like that!”
“I’ll take your word for it,” Nicolas casually wrapped his arm around her waist. Trisha instantly became stiff, like a puppet, being led by Nicolas into the room.
His eyes were sharp, and he immediately noticed the gift Mason had brought on the table. He picked it up and opened it, revealing a Chanel silk scarf inside.
He immediately tied the scarf around Trisha’s neck, “Mason, you’ve got good taste. You really know how to pick gifts. It suits you perfectly.”
Mason was speechless.
The scarf was intended for Celeste. The package beside it was for Trisha.
Trisha was a bit bewildered by his compliment. Clutching the scarf, she asked, “Does it really suit me? I’ve never tried this color before. Feels a bit too posh.”
“All that posh feeling is just packaging,” he said while opening another box, then added, “This bag is also nice and suits you well. Here, try it on, and let me see
Mason was once again left speechless.
