Chapter 14
“Damn you!” she snarled, twisting beneath me. Her teeth snapped dangerously close to my face, but I kept her pinned, my weight pressing her down.
With a final surge of strength, I rolled her onto her back, my massive paw threatening to pin down on her throat.
Her defiant eyes glared up at me, her breaths coming in ragged gasps. Everything else—the roar of battle, the screams–faded into the background. It was just us now.
“What do you gain from this, Nayra?” I growled, my voice trembling with fury and grief. “My son doesn‘ t need to die just so you can prove your strength!‘
Nayra’s eyes flashed cold and cruel. “Are you really that stupid, sister? This was never about Balto. He was just in the way—a small pieace of collateral damage. This is about power. Power is all that
matters!‘
She added, her own anger thick in her voice. “Why do you think those elder bastards in our pack could get away with so much everything? They raped me, a pack alpha‘ s daughter, and they got to live and got to slam their cocks to who knows how many others that they raped!”
Tears blurred my vision, but I refused to let them fall. I didn’t know how to feel–shocked, because I never knew Nayra had been assaulted; enraged, because she had taken my son from me; or pity, because, like me, she was consumed by her own anger and need for control.
“Kill me,” Nayra hissed, her voice ragged with desperation. “Do it. You‘ ll finally understand power once you take a life. You’ll feel it.”
I pressed down harder, feeling her resistance fade beneath my hands. My emotions twisted
together–rage, grief, confusion–blurring into something raw and uncontrollable. I didn’t even know who my anger was for–Nayra, myself, Balto? Was it for all of us?
Was she telling the truth? Or was this another of her manipulations to make me hesitate?
Frustration surged through me, tightening my grip. But as I watched her struggles weaken, her breath grow shallow beneath my fingers, I faltered.
I couldn’t do it.
“Fuck.
The word came out cracked, broken. I couldn’t end her.
Instead, I let go, my hands trembling as I slammed her head into the ground.
“Fuck!” I screamed, my frustration, my helplessness breaking through.
I stumbled back, my heart torn between vengeance and me not wanting to end my own sister.
Nayra coughed as she struggled to stand, her body battered and bruised from our fight.
“What the hell did you just say, Nayra?”
Both of us snapped our heads in the direction of the familiar voice. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
Balthar was there, standing a few feet away in his wolf form, looming over us.
“You killed Balto?” His voice, usually cold and composed, cracked with a mixture of shock and fury.
His eyes locked onto Nayra, blazing with rage. “How dare you? How FUCKING dare you!”
Even in her weakened state, Nayra smirked, the defiance still flickering in her eyes. “Don’t pretend
you cared about him now, Balthar,” she spat. “You said it yourself–he was never your priority. I was. · Don’t you remember?”
Balthar s face darkened, his fury becoming a living, breathing thing. His breaths came in harsh, ragged bursts as he stepped toward her. “You witch!” he snarled. “You murdered my son, manipulated everything, twisted it all to fulfill your needs. You even had the audacity to justify it?!”
