Oops, I’ve Been Exposed

Chapter 50 by Lorelei Thunder

Silence fell upon the venue, and everyone looked on in disbelief. Helen was beautiful, but anyone who knew her also knew that she was vicious! She was Mason’s daughter, after all!

Many people were duped by Helen’s good looks and thought that she was vulnerable and easy to exploit. But anyone who tried to do so soon found out that they were grossly mistaken.

Recently, Mason rarely appeared in public, and Helen had the final say in every matter in the Cartwright family. Countless people submitted to her.

They couldn’t understand why a determined and strong woman like her would be so respectful toward this man, who was the very definition of common. Moreover, Kurt had also said that this man was a recently released convict.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

When Helen lowered her head in apology, she subconsciously glanced at Pamela. Woody understood what was going on right away. Helen was apologizing to him for seating Pamela next to him.

“It’s okay, you did this out of goodwill. I can’t blame you for that.” Woody waved his hand generously, signaling that he didn’t intend to hold her responsible.

It was only then that Helen sighed in relief. She straightened up slowly as a sweet smile bloomed on her pretty face. “Thank you for pardoning me, Mr. Henderson.”

This time, even Clement was shocked. Helen never smiled at men aside from Mason. But now, she was smiling so sweetly. This was a first.

After taking her seat, Helen regained her cold temperament. She instructed, “The VIPs have arrived. Let’s begin.”

A friendly-looking old man constantly nodded at Woody as he took the seat Pamela was sitting on earlier. Pamela was shocked. He was Seth Ellis, the chairman of the Tiusto Chamber of Commerce. Helen’s behavior was already surprising enough, but now Seth was being respectful toward Woody.

The other guests took their seats. None of them paid any attention to Kurt and the others. The three went red in the face as they left in embarrassment.

In the back of the room, Kurt tried to make excuses for himself. “It doesn’t matter where you sit. The important thing is that your company gets the position as their gold-tier partner, right, Pamela?”

What could Pamela say? Despite her anger, she knew that Kurt was still useful to her, so she couldn’t offend him.

Just then, Miriam received a call. Her expression instantly shifted as she said, “Bad news, Ms. York! We were disqualified!”

“Really?” Pamela panicked.

Miriam said resolutely, “My cousin’s boyfriend works in the Customer Department of Cartwright Group, and he told me this. There can be no mistake. What do we do now?”

Pamela’s expression turned foul. She had spent lots of money to be shortlisted, and she even owed a lot of favors now. If she ended up with nothing, she would suffer huge losses. Just the favors alone would be enough to destroy York Corporation.

But why? Pamela couldn’t understand what had gone wrong. What caused the Cartwrights to change their mind? It all happened without warning.

Kurt immediately got to his feet. “That can’t be! Even if you’re not good enough, you shouldn’t be disqualified. I’ll call Dad right now.” With that, he took out his phone and walked off to the side.

“Kurt, things are quite complicated at the York family. You’d better stay away from them. The Cartwrights don’t seem to value York Corporation that much after all. If you try to achieve something by sticking to them, you’ll probably fail.”

Kurt said with a foul expression, “Dad, is it hopeless now?”

“Either way, it’s not something I am capable of settling. Helen’s way of doing things is completely different from Mason’s. No one knows what she’s thinking!

“It’s not worth it to exert so much energy on nobodies like the York family. If you accidentally offend Helen, you’ll end up even worse than when you started!”
