Chapter 310
Chapter 310:noveldrama
With a dismissive snort, he spoke, his voice as sharp and biting as ice. “Whether Khloe is worthy or not is none of your concern. My fiancée surpasses someone like you in every way.”
His words struck Baylee with the force of a sledgehammer, sinking deep into her chest.
Her face drained of color, and her body shook uncontrollably. What terrified her the most, however, was the cold emptiness in Henrik’s gaze, as if he viewed her as nothing more than a mere insect—something he could crush without a second thought.
Despite her fear, Baylee wasn’t ready to back down. “Henrik, you must be under some spell. She must have used some underhanded trick…”
Before she could say another word, a sharp slap echoed through the air.
The one who delivered the slap was none other than Ashton, who had rushed down the stairs after Henrik.
“Enough!” Ashton snapped, his hand still stinging from the slap. Lowering his voice, he quickly added, “I apologize, Mr. Watson. This is my fault. I’ll ensure she makes a proper apology.”
Henrik stayed silent, his disapproval clear in his stillness. It wasn’t until he reached Khloe’s side that he glanced back at the father and daughter, his voice firm. “The person you owe an apology to isn’t me, but Khloe.”
Ashton’s face darkened immediately. He had always indulged his daughter, and the thought of asking her to apologize to someone of Khloe’s modest background made him uncomfortable. But Henrik’s strong presence and words left no room for disagreement.
With a deep, restraining breath, Ashton held back his frustration, grabbing Baylee and forcing her to bow in front of Khloe. “Miss Evans, my daughter acted thoughtlessly and offended you. Please accept our apologies, and may you find it in your heart to forgive her.”
Humiliation and rage burned in Baylee’s cheeks as she bit down hard on her lip, tears stinging at her eyes. But no matter how hard it was, she couldn’t bring herself to apologize.
She could never bring herself to apologize to someone she regarded as beneath her.

Khloe watched the father and daughter with calm detachment, fully aware that Ashton’s apology was hollow, forced by Henrik’s influence.
However, Khloe wasn’t about to linger on the gesture. Just as she prepared to accept it, Henrik’s voice cut through, cold and distant. “Not enough.”
His composed words sent a wave of shock through the crowd.
A personal apology from a senator was no small thing. It was already a considerable gesture.
Still, Henrik deemed it inadequate.
His loyalty to Khloe was clear to everyone.
The focus turned back to Khloe.
Ashton’s expression darkened even further. He hadn’t anticipated Henrik’s persistence. Baylee, on the other hand, was seething with anger, her body shaking with rage.
Why? Khloe was merely a pretty face with some talent. Why did Henrik place so much value on her, even if it meant openly defying her father?
Didn’t Henrik realize that, in this election, her father had a crucial vote?
What Baylee didn’t know was that, in Henrik’s eyes, Ashton’s voting power held no weight when compared to Khloe.
Khloe was also taken aback. She hadn’t restrained herself earlier when she knocked Erma out and disrupted half of the banquet.
She believed she had done enough, but Henrik’s concern for her ran so deep that he was willing to sever ties with Ashton, disregarding the importance of the vote.
When Henrik stood protectively in front of her, unwavering and resolute as a mountain, a subtle warmth glinted in Khloe’s eyes.
