After six years of marriage and sharing a bed, Nadine understood Brad far better than Avery ever could.

When Avery suggested that Brad's reluctance to divorce might be because he cared about Nadine, the latter simply smiled.

After saying this, Nadine hid her disappointment and continued slicing the fish. Her movements were precise, and the fish fillets were cut evenly and thin as gossamer. Spread out, they looked like finely carved artworks, pleasing to the eye.

Though she tried to act nonchalant, Avery saw the hurt in her eyes. After moving around the stove, Avery took the knife from Nadine's hands and embraced her tightly.

In a soothing voice, Avery comforted her. "Don't be sad, babe. You still have me and Sean. No matter what, I'll be with you and support all your decisions. Even if the whole world turns against you, I'll stand by your side."

Held tightly by her bestie, Nadine struggled to keep her composure. She bit her lower lip to prevent herself from crying out loud.

After so many long and arduous days, she finally allowed herself to drop her guard and show her vulnerability.

Nadine was amused by Avery's exaggerated words. "You're so corny! Hurry up and help me out. Sean is waiting."
