"Mom?" She had expected Jennifer to call to wish Sean a happy birthday. However, Jennifer didn't mention Sean at all.

expectations of Jennifer. She had thought that Jennifer's call on

Sean's birthday would be to offer birthday wishes. Instead, she just called to talk about money.
