The more Nadine avoided him, the more it showed she had something to hide.

After hearing Brad's indifferent tone, Nadine's tense nerves relaxed a little. "I

came to check on your condition and ask you a few questions."

At that moment, she was a doctor, and a doctor's job was to care for every

patient, no matter who they were.

He initially thought she had come specifically to see him, and he felt happy for a

brief moment-enough to quell the simmering anger inside him. As soon as he

realized that she saw him as just another patient, his mood instantly soured, and

the anger he had suppressed flared up again.

"I don't need you!" he spat. He thought she was here to check on him, but it

turned out she was just here to ask about his condition and advance her skills.

He thought, "Nadine Scott, you're really something else! After using me as anoveldrama

replacement, now you want to use me to climb the ladder? How despicable!"

Nadine's nerves, which had just started to relax, immediately tensed up again. Six

years of marriage had taught her everything about Brad, and she could read his

every little move and facial expression.

For instance, his currently raised eyebrows, the faint wrinkle between them, and

the tension in his posture all screamed one thing: he was on the verge of losing

his temper.

Realizing Brad might snap, she politely advised, "Mr. Hamilton, you're not in the

best condition right now. You should avoid getting worked up. Since you're not

willing to cooperate today, I'll take my leave. I'll come back when you're ready to

work with me."

Nadine couldn't tolerate his bad temper and didn't want to deal with his attitude. If

he didn't want to cooperate, she'd just leave.

Nadine had just turned around when she heard a thunderous roar behind her.

"Did I permit you to leave? Nadine Scott, if you take one step out that door, I'll file

a complaint against you for being impatient with your patients!"

This woman was just too much! How dare she come and go as she pleased?

What did she take him for? If he didn't put her in her place today, she wouldn't

know who she was dealing with!

Sure enough, after his outburst, she

stopped in her tracks and stood still

for a moment. Nadine was aware

that her recent promotion had made

her the target of jealousy and

gossip. The staff at the hospital

whispered behind her back,

She had kept a low profile and didn't

complaint against her.

demoted or had their pay docked. More importantly, she didn't want to lose the

opportunity she had just gotten.

Nadine bit her lower lip, weighing her

options. After a moment, she turned

back around, her face donning a

professional, practiced smile. "Our

customers come first. Mr. Hamilton,

you are our top priority. We will do

everything we can to fulfill your

demands. So what can I do for you,

good sir?"

Brad was threatening her with a complaint. What else could she do but smile and

play along?

Life was just one big performance. Once she humored this jerk for a little while,

he'd quiet down on his own.
