Chapter 39 Beauty and Talent

Chapter 39 Beauty and Talent

Although she hated Clarissa for stealing her husband, the fact was that Antonio actually liked her sister,

and she married Antonio because of an accident.

In Adelaide's heart, she had always felt that she was the one who stole the man from her sister. This

was why she was so tolerant of her. Now Antonio seemed to have feelings for her as well, how could

Adelaide not get excited?

Therefore, she did not want to get involved in the fake pregnancy anymore!

Hanna, however, looked at the whole situation more thoroughly than she did. She tapped rhythmically

on the balcony,

"Clarissa is robbing your husband right now and she dares to fake a pregnancy to trick him into living

out there. What if they get together again?

What will you do when they really have a baby?

Are you going to leave Antonio?”

Her words made Adelaide upset.

Of course, she hoped Antonio only loved her. She could even lie to herself that she did not care about it

when she could not get his heart at first.

However, when she truly felt his care towards her now, how could Adelaide let the chance slip away for

the second time?

Just at this moment, the door was opened. Jerry came in through the door with a long face.

He came straight to Adelaide and asked seriously, "Did Antonio cheat on you?"

Though he said it in a questioning tone, he was sure about it and believe in what he heard.

Startled, Adelaide stood up and was about to explain before Jerry waved his hand and snapped out.

"I heard it all outside the door, so you and Antonio were all acting when I visited last time?"

friend to be so unaware of his blessed happiness with such a great wife. Even though he knew that he

had no chance with Adelaide anymore, he could not help feeling bad for her now.

Adelaide was afraid that she would damage Antonio’s relationship with his friend, so hurriedly

explained,

"No, no, Antonio has always been in love with Clarissa. It's only because of an accident that he ended

up marrying me."

He had always known who Antonio liked, so Jerry frowned, wondering why she thought that Antonio

liked Clarissa.

He still remembered Antonio saying that he did not like Clarissa, but when he heard Adelaide’s words,

he was a bit shocked! Is that so?

On his face that was usually playful and smiling, Jerry frowned with a rarely serious expression,

"Stop it, cheating is cheating, Antonio is too much. Sister-in-law, don't worry, I heard everything you

said, didn't you want to test whether Clarissa is pregnant or not?

I'm good at this!"

He stomped at his chest and promised, feeling unfair for Adelaide inside. How many posh wives would

still cook and pour tea for guests themselves?

Actually, since the first time he saw her, he knew that he was charmed. She was so gentle,

considerate, and understanding with a smile that was as warm as a winter sun.

She was the one who made his floating heart want to settle down and she was also the one who gave

him a warm feeling of a family. She was such a good woman. Jerry squinted his eyes. His clenched

fists declared his anger. He knew that she was the wife of his best friend, so he would not think about

impossible things with her, but he would not tolerate anyone bullying her, not even Antonio!

The two women looked at each other. They both felt that it was incredible to let Jerry do this thing. But

since he said it, it would save their clueless time of acting like headless flies. Adelaide expressed her

gratitudes, and settled this deal.

After getting closer to Adelaide, Jerry started to think about finding a time to properly interrogate

Antonio while seriously calculating how to help Adelaide.

Smart men were indeed cuter. Jerry's solution was seamless. Because Adelaide was too cautious to

trust the food outside, she asked Hanna to drive home and had Damla make a sumptuous lunch again.

The only pity for the food was that it was either too salty or too sour. A supposed sweet cuisine had no

sugar in it at all. The trancing Damla even got reprimanded by Adelaide.

After they finished their meal and discussed about how to execute the plan, they left the house.

Jerry’s plan was indeed perfect. He was going to accidently bump into Clarissa. If she was pregnant,

the first thing she would say would be, “Oh no, my child!”

If it was someone who was not actually pregnant, her reaction would have been "Ouch."

Just one reaction could show if she was really pregnant.

Besides, he would not really run into Clarissa, but would just pretend to do so to test her first reaction.

Even if this plot failed, he had a second one, which was to stab her with the telescopic knife, which

most people would believe as a real knife. Pregnant mothers would protect their bellies out of maternal

love instinctively, while those who were not pregnant certainly would not have this natural reaction.

They both complimented him on his plan, which was much safer if Clarissa was pregnant without

actually hurting her belly.

They immediately bought the props and let Adelaide ask her out.

However, their plots failed.

Clarissa did not call Antonio but called Adelaide to ask why nobody came in time. Adelaide hurriedly

lied that she remembered the wrong time and that there was nothing to talk about, then hung up

quickly.

Clarissa sat on the sofa at home. The person standing next to her was Damla. Clarissa smilingly held

Damla’s hand and let her sit by her side,

"Damla, thank you so much for today, or else my child would have been murdered by them!"

“Never mind, Miss Clarissa. If it wasn't for you, I would have… lost my grandson!"

said Damla who was crying like pouring rain.

A disgusted expression appeared on Clarissa’s face as Damla lowered her head to cry. That look

disappeared so fast that even if Damla were staring at her for the whole time, she would think that she

saw the wrong expression.

Immediately, Clarissa tapped on Damla's back as she tenderly handed her the tissue paper,

"It's okay.

As long as your grandson is okay, the money is not a big deal, and if you need more money for the

hospital, you must tell me."

Damla’s grandson was born with a heart disease, which cost tens of thousands of dollars. Though

Antonio had never treated Damla badly on the salary, she used all her money on her son’s house and

car already.

At first, she thought she could stop worrying after his marriage and even thought of resigning to stay at

home to take care of her pregnant daughter-in-law, but she was not needed since her daughter-in-law

was staying with her parents. On the other side, after she took care of Antonio for more than a decade,

she no longer saw him as a simple employer, but treated him like her own son.

A year later, the baby was born, but he was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Ever since then

he was so fragile that even breastfeeding was a problem in the first few days of his life.

After that, he got sick very easily, and had to be hospitalized for more than ten days.

When the family's savings were depleted, Damla was glad that she did not quit her job and worked

even harder from then on to save money for her grandson's surgery.
