Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring

Chapter 282

Before he could even finish his sentence, Naomi's phone rang.

Charles paused.

Naomi took her phone out of her pocket and glanced at it. It was a number she did not recognize, but a local one. She hesitated for a moment, then picked up. "Hello?"

"Is this Ms. Naomi Goodwin?"Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

"Yes, speaking. You are..."

"I'm a police officer from the Le Soleil Police Department. You came to us this evening to report a case of assault by Ms. Olivia Carver. Is that correct?"

Naomi froze, then replied, "Yes, I did. Are you calling about the verdict?"

Charles did not utter another word but stood still next to Naomi, listening to her conversation. His gaze landed on her face when he heard her.

She had a solemn look on her face, and the smile had disappeared, exactly like how she was when making the police report. Therefore, Charles could easily guess who it was on the other end of the line. "Well, Ms. Carver's lawyer stopped by and offered to settle this dispute outside of court. He's offering to pay a penalty, but Ms. Carver won't be pleading guilty. Can you come by to discuss this with Ms. Carver and her lawyer? I think it's best if you come to an agreement about this face-to-face."

Naomi was not at all surprised by this. "How about tomorrow at noon?"

"That's fine."

"Alright then. I'll stop by tomorrow."

With that, she hung up and returned her phone to her pocket. Charles asked, "Is it the police?"

Naomi nodded. "Yes, Ms. Carver's lawyer came by just now and offered to pay a penalty. They want me to stop by tomorrow to discuss this."

Charles furrowed his brows, but he had to admit he was not surprised. Offering to pay a penalty instead of apologizing was indeed something Olivia would do.

Charles had only met Olivia a

handful of times, but even then, he could tell she was an arrogant and rather spoiled young woman. It was no surprise to him that she would rather pay money than apologize to Naomi for assaulting her. She did not think she had done anything wrong or even broken the law.

Charles turned to Naomi. "What are you going to do?"

Although Naomi had not gotten hurt, it was still a serious matter that had ended badly. If Naomi insisted that Olivia apologize to her, it would highly likely lead to a lawsuit, knowing Olivia's stubbornness. However, bringing this issue to court would significantly impact Naomi's life and work, including her family's privacy. The same could be said for Olivia. In fact, it would have even more dire consequences for Olivia.

After all, Olivia was the heiress of the Carver family, and if the public caught wind of her attempted assault, it would no doubt affect her family's reputation.

Therefore, Naomi had to think long

and hard before deciding to sue Olivia for this Suing Olivia was the only option that could guarantee a solution, but it would come at the price of fueling a feud between the two of them. If Olivia were to jose in court, she would not rest until she got her revenge on Naomi, and perhaps she would even do

something even more terrible to hurt

Naomi in the future.

However, on the other hand, accepting Olivia's compensation meant that Naomi would have to make a gigantic compromise. This was not a solution, as it did not stop Olivia from doing something similar again in the future.

No matter which option she chose, Naomi would have to deal with the consequences.

Charles felt his chest tighten at the

thought of this. As much as he

нет

wanted to take this into his own hands and fix it, he knew he could not. He would let Naomi make the decision herself, and he would support her no matter what decision she made.

He was not at all afraid of the challenges he would have to face alongside her.
