Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 784

Ashley's face was a storm of emotions, like her territory had just been overtaken. She shot Nathalie a frosty look. "Nathalie, I've told you, he's my fiancé. Why are you always eyeing someone else's fiancé? Don't you have any shame?"

Nathalie's face flushed with embarrassment, turning beet red under Ashley's barrage.

She never really doubted the bond between Ashley and Morris. After all, in another lifetime, they were husband and wife.

"I know he's your fiancé, but he's also my bro-"

"Brother? Stop making things up. If you meant anything to him, why haven't I ever heard him talk about you?"

Nathalie was at a loss for words. Ashley had a point. It did sting, but thinking about all the money Morris had made for her, still safe in the Maple Company account, she figured she had more significance than Ashley implied.

She decided to level with Ashley.

"Ashley, I've seen him. He needs my help," Nathalie pleaded, her eyes earnest. Ashley was caught off guard.

Despite not wanting Nathalie tangled up with Morris, she knew how cold Morris could be. Ever since he started his job behind those corporate walls, she had tried countless times to visit him, only to be turned away.

But he agreed to see Nathalie?

This realization unsettled Ashley. Was Nathalie more important to him?

"What did he say to you?" Ashley asked, her voice quivering slightly.

"Honestly, not much. He barely spoke," Nathalie confessed, feeling a bit defeated.noveldrama

Ashley laughed in triumph. "I thought he actually treated you differently. Looks like you were just imagining things."

Nathalie pressed her lips together.

Ashley looked at her smugly. "So, what do you want from me? If it's good for my Nathan, I'm willing to help."

Nathalie's cheeks burned with embarrassment. "Do you know why his legs are injured?"

"That's a touchy subject for him. I

Nathalie was moved by Ashley's sincere affection; she was truly a straightforward

girl.

For a moment, Nathalie felt happy for Morris. With a wife like that, what more could he ask for?

"When I first met him, he was hurt and could barely walk. We couldn't afford a doctor, but we got lucky and found a traveling healer. I begged him to take a look at Nathan's injury. Though he didn't prescribe anything, he said Nathan's legs would heal over time."

Nathalie's voice grew heavy with emotion. "But now, his condition seems worse."

Ashley stared at her, shocked and a bit jealous of Nathalie's shared history with Morris.

Even as his fiancée, Morris was distant, often treating Ashley like she was invisible.

Ashley was frustrated that her

connection as his fiancée wasn't as close as Nathalie's past with him. she tried to sound proud. "His painful past is heartbreaking. He doesn't want me to worry, sohe never told me the details. He only gave me a vague idea. I didn't know you two go way back."

Talking to Ashley felt like rubbing salt in a wound for Nathalie. It was painfully irritating.

"In all the time you've known him, he's never mentioned me?" Nathalie asked.

"Why would he mention you? You're not that important to him. Just a passing phase," Ashley scoffed.
