Chapter 880
Morris let out a big yawn. The day had worn him out with all the young women clamoring for his attention, and Lincoln's endless chatter at night had drained what little energy he had left. All he wanted now was a solid night's sleep to recharge his batteries.
For the time being, whatever Lincoln said went. "Alright, Uncle, tomorrow you can give me a crash course in advanced math. Let's find out if I've got any talent for it."
Lincoln chuckled warmly. "Your mom was a whiz at math competitions, and she wasn't too shabby with regular math either. I believe in you. You've got her genes, so you're definitely not lacking."
Morris nodded, as humble as ever. "If you say so, Uncle, I'll give it my best shot."
Satisfied, Lincoln left the room. Morris collapsed onto his bed, completely spent, and soon drifted off into a deep sleep.
The next morning rolled around. Morris was jolted awake by Lincoln's voice. "Nathan, it's almost noon! How can you sleep so much?"
Morris blinked groggily, taking in Lincoln's look of disappointment, feeling a bit lost.
"Get up and grab some breakfast. Once you're done, we're diving into some advanced math. You should be grateful for having a tutor like me for free. Don't waste this chance."
With Lincoln's constant chatter in the background, Morris managed to get dressed and brush his teeth. When he went downstairs for breakfast, he noticed Nathalie was nowhere to be seen, which suddenly piqued his interest.
"Where's Nathalie? Isn't it the weekend? She doesn't have work today!"
"Oh, she's off on a date set up by her friend. They matched her with a guy who's quite the catch," Lincoln bragged about the potential suitor. "He comes from a family of academics; both parents are professors. The guy's impressive too-he's an entrepreneur who took his company public. Honestly, I'd be thrilled if Vivian married into such a family. I think this could be the real deal."
Morris frowned, casting a skeptical eye at Lincoln.
"Have you even met this guy?"
Lincoln shook his head.noveldrama
Morris said, "And you just believe what people tell you? You're loaded,
Lincoln. Why not hire a few private t
eyes to dig into this guy's
background, from his school days to his current love life? Has he ever lived with anyone? Is he healthy? I mean, in all respects..."
It was like Morris had opened Lincoln's eyes to a whole new world. Instead of scolding Morris for
nerve, Lincoln seemed to look at him like he was a wise sage.
"Nathan, you're spot on. I should secretly check him out..."
But as he stood up, he hesitated and slumped back into his chair with a sigh.
"No, no, if this is a good match, snooping might upset my future son-in-law."
Morris was dumbfounded.
Why wasn't he worried about upsetting Morris? Always nitpicking, criticizing, and looking into his background-what a double standard.
Morris muttered, "All that money and no clue how to use it."
"What was that?" Lincoln glared at him.
"Just saying, hire a detective to look into the guy discreetly. Make sure he doesn't find out."
"And what if he does?"
"There's always a way if you're
willing to pay. Just slip the detective
a extra to keep quiet. If
don't want to handle it, leave it to
me."
Lincoln paced back and forth, hands clasped behind his back, caught in indecision.
Morris had already made up his mind to investigate the suitor himself, so he pushed it out of his thoughts.
He polished off the last of his cereal, then cleared the dishes and headed to the kitchen to wash them.
What do you think?
