Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce!

Chapter 1169 Ignoring Sydney

Chapter 1169 Ignoring Sydney

Seeing Julien so protective of Sydney, Velma felt a mix of jealousy and anger.

She was jealous because, as his mother, she had never been protected by Julien like this before.

She was angry because Julien acted as if she were going to do something to Sydney.

Being mistrusted by her son made her heart ache.

With that in mind, Velma looked at Julien resentfully.

Unsure about what was bothering her, Julien wrinkled his brows and asked, "Mom, what brings you to the old residence? When did you arrive?"

Velma replied gloomily, "I arrived a while ago to visit your grandmother. I'm leaving now."

"Visiting my grandma?" Julien doubtfully raised an eyebrow.

He knew his stepmother well. She wasn't considered unfilial, but there was no way she would like to see his grandmother.

After all, Old Madam didn't like her.

So, unless necessary, Velma would not come to the old residence.

'Coming here meant receiving Old Madam's disdain. Why would she willingly subject herself to that?

'But since she is here, it should be about something important.'

However, since she didn't say anything, he didn't inquire about it.

"Alright. Be careful on the road." Holding Sydney's hand, Julien stepped aside to make way for Velma.

Velma hummed, bowed her head, and walked past them.

Throughout the encounter, she didn't even glance at Sydney.

She did it on purpose.

Although she had promised Old Madam that she would not oppose or treat Sydney with hostility, she hadn't promised to be nice.

After all, she was still a mother and a senior.

Ignoring Sydney wouldn't be considered offensive.

They couldn't find fault with her actions.

Since Sydney and she didn't get along, it would be for the best if they ignored each other.

If Sydney minded her attitude, it would only show that Sydney was petty.

By then, everyone could only blame Sydney. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

The thought brought Velma confidence, and she straightened her back.

As Sydney watched the woman, she could imagine the proud look on Velma's face.

She just didn't know what Velma was proud of.

It was not that she was interested in that. She was just surprised by Velma's attitude toward her.

Sydney looked away and continued to walk forward with Julien. "Did you see Velma's reaction just now?"

"I did." Julien nodded, his eyes also flickering with astonishment.

"I thought she would find fault with me, just like before. We end up arguing with each other every time. I thought this time would be no exception, but her reaction totally surprised me. She simply ignored me and walked away," Sydney said, holding Julien's arm.

"It is indeed surprising," Julien concurred with a nod.

Deep down, he knew how much his stepmother hated Leaf. He thought they would fight again.

It was always Velma who started a fight, and Sydney would fight back.

Lest history repeated itself, he shielded Sydney and blocked their eye contact.

Unexpectedly, Velma had no intention of fighting Sydney at all. She simply exchanged a few words with him and then left.

The change in her demeanor really surprised him.

"Well, it's not bad. I didn't want to argue with her and put you between a rock and a hard place anyway." Sydney smiled.

Julien pursed his lips. "But she deliberately ignored you, which is rude."

"What's the big deal?" Sydney shrugged indifferently. "I'm happy if she ignores me like this. It's much better than glaring at me and taunting me. I'd rather be ignored by her than argue with her."

She suddenly looked up at him and probed, "You don't think I'm treating her badly, do you?"

Julien rubbed her hair and smiled helplessly. "How could I? I never expected you two to get along with each other. You guys are just incompatible. It's much better for you to leave each other alone than argue with each other."

"Yeah." Sydney looked away and regained her smile. "I'm glad that you agree with me on this."

"Did you forget what I said? No matter what happens, I will always choose you over her. So, how could I think you're wrong?" Julien said gently, looking at her.

Sydney held his arm even tighter, leaning over and resting her head on his left shoulder. Through her actions, she meant to tell him that she was happy with his words.

Julien looked sideways at her, his eyes filled with tenderness.

Sitting in the pavilion, Old Madam and Felicia saw the couple approaching from a distance.

Felicia pointed to them, quipping, "See how affectionate Mr. Julien and Ms. Raines are. They are glued to each other."

Old Madam smiled. "Yeah. They look so happy."

"Mr. Julien is all smiles." Felicia giggled behind her mouth.

Old Madam had a sip of tea and said expectantly, "It seems that we'll soon receive the good news of them having a baby."

"Given the way Mr. Julien and Ms. Raines cling to each other, they will have a baby soon enough." Felicia nodded in agreement.

Old Madam put down her cup, saying, "Go and ask the servants to bring over the food and soup. The two must be starving now."

"I'm on it," Felicia said, leaving the pavilion.

As soon as she went out, she met Sydney and Julien head-on.

"Good morning, Felicia." Sydney stopped and greeted Felicia with a smile.

Julien followed suit and nodded to Felicia.

Felicia smiled at them. "Good morning, Mr. Julien and Ms. Raines. Old Madam is resting in the pavilion. You guys can go over now. I'm going to get breakfast for you. I presume you're hungry after a restless night."

Felicia then walked past them, leaving Sydney blushing and Julien raising his eyebrows.

Not stupid, Sydney knew what Felicia was implying.

'A restless night.'

Obviously, they knew what happened between her and Julien last night.

Sydney had been mentally prepared for Old Madam and Felicia's teasing.

But she hadn't expected to hear such explicit words from Felicia. She was totally embarrassed.

Letting go of Julien's arm, she bowed her head and covered her face with her hands. But her flushed ears indicated her embarrassment.
