Chapter 1275
On the day Stephania and Donnie tied the knot, the Calder family made their way to Maplewood Estates with their little one in tow. Anya and Leo were there for the celebration, and you just knew Molly and Chad wouldn't miss it for the world. For Donnie, Chad was more than just a boss—he was a mentor, guiding him every step of the way.
As the festivities kicked off, Chad found himself chatting with Donnie's parents. They were full of questions, eager to know how their son was doing in the squad. "I always imagined Zisheng's mentor to be an older gentleman in his fifties or sixties. But here you are, young and spry! Officer Chad, are you married?"
With a warm smile, Chad nodded, "Yep, married and with kids."
He scanned the crowd, looking for his wife-someone he knew better than the back of his own hand. Molly was cradling their boy, settled at Easton's table. Not long after, she spotted some friends and decided to join them for a bit.noveldrama
Eventually, Molly got tired of juggling her son and having fun, so she handed him over to Chad. "Here you go, Chad. I'm off to hang out with Anya and Stephania."
Always the life of the party, Molly dashed away, leaving some folks thinking she was Chad's sister. With a chuckle, Chad clarified, holding his baby close, "That was my wife, the mother of this little guy. She's friends with the bride and the bridesmaid."
Meanwhile, Leo had slipped into the dressing room, gently coaxing the bridesmaid—Anya-outside. He watched her in that strapless dress, a little too focused on the neckline. "Pull it up a bit," he suggested.
Anya pouted, glancing down, "Leo, I can't. The dress is just made this way."
Leo teased, "Being stubborn, huh? If you won't do it, I will."
Anya looked around, her eyes darting to make sure no one was watching too closely. She eyed her boyfriend, the vinegar factory owner, wondering if he'd really adjust her dress right there. "Alright, Leo, just make sure no one sees."
Quick as a flash, Leo assured her, "That's what I'm doing."
Anya tugged at the dress a bit, but the laced-up back made it tricky. She couldn't get it to budge. Leo took her hand, guiding her to a quiet corner behind some stairs. He stepped forward, gently pinning her against the wall. Anya's cheeks turned pink as she found herself face-to-face with Leo.
"Listen," Leo said, "when the MC asks if you're single, you know what to say, right?"
He remembered all too well how, at Molly's wedding, the MC had put Anya on the spot with that question. Back then, their relationship wasn't official, and her answer had stirred up quite the buzz. He wasn't about to let that happen again— not with him there to set the record straight.
Anya grinned, "Leo, I want to catch the bouquet!"
"What's so special about that? It's used! Let me buy you a fresh one," Leo offered.
Anya shook her head, "No way. I gave you a bouquet once, and you never got me one."
Looking at her, Leo relented, "Alright, alright. I'll catch that bouquet for you and hand it over in front of everyone."
Anya's smile beamed, sweet as cotton candy. Leo couldn't help but stare at her lips, his throat tightening a bit. In his enthusiasm, he pressed a little too hard, and Anya winced, "Leo, you're squishing my arm!"
Leo quickly checked, crouching down to make sure she was okay. From the back, it might have looked like he was pinning her against the wall for a kiss.
What do you think?
