Chapter 1379
Molly stopped mid-bite, buffalo wing in hand, and looked up. "So, where are we staying tonight?"
Aimee glanced over at Mia. "Hotel?"
Mia put her spoon down, no longer feeding her son. Instantly, Henry grabbed the spoon and started shoveling food into his mouth, cheeks puffed out. The two little boys nearby watched, wide-eyed and practically drooling.
"I bought a house," Mia said, just like that.
Both women stared at her, stunned.
Mia shrugged. "After my grad school exams, I just had this wild urge-I took Henry out with me, and, well, we bought a place."
"You're serious?" Molly gaped. They'd joked about this before, but she'd never thought Mia meant it.
Mia nodded. "Yeah. Bought it months ago. Haven't even stayed there yet. Spent a fortune making it nice, too."
Molly let out a dramatic sigh and grinned. "Mia, you're living in another league. I'm still dragging Chad around shopping for jeans, and you're out buying houses with a baby on your hip."
Aimee chimed in, "I used to sell houses. Why couldn't I ever get a client like you?" The two women immediately turned on her, voices overlapping. "Wait-you were in real estate?"
"Aren't you the Hernandez Group heiress?" Jade piped up, her imagination already running wild. "Let me guess-you were just working at a real estate office, minding your business, when your long-lost billionaire family found you after spotting your face on the news? Boom-DNA test, suddenly you're an heiress, and then you fall for some rugged guy, face a bunch of drama, and end up with a cute baby?" She grinned, clearly enjoying her own made-up plot.
But Mia just shook her head. She'd never believed Aimee's confidence was something she picked up along the way-it was baked in, from day one. "Wait- don't tell me your husband had something to do with the job thing..."

Aimee's eyes harrowed. She pointed at her son. "Xup. His dad. His brilliant plan for my first job was to dump me at a real estate office and tell me, Be the top seller if you want any money.' I only got through the first round because someone literally walked in and handed me a sale.
Then, for round two, he gave me this tiny, rundown café and told me to run it. Oh, and while I was struggling? He froze my cards, took my car, and gave me zero allowance."
Molly tilted her head, pretending to think it over. "Wow, your husband makes Chad look like a teddy bear. Chad just pranks me sometimes. His paycheck's been mine since before the wedding."
Mia laughed. "Honestly, your husband's out of line. Mine knows I'm a little obsessed with my savings, but no matter how mad he gets he never cuts me off His only real rule is that drink my coffee, go shopping, hang out with my girlfriends, and spend his money!" She flashed a smug smile. "Oh, and keep the peace."
The two women turned to Mrs. Cedillo, shaking their heads in mock despair. "Some people just have it too good."
Lost in their chat, none of them noticed what the kids were up to until a sudden baby cough snapped them back.
"Henry! Did you just feed your brothers Jell-O again?"
Henry looked guilty but determined he just wanted to share because his little brothers looked so sad.
Jared actually managed to catch the wobbly blob in his mouth.
Molly frantically checked on her own son-sticky hands, empty mouth. She
pinched his cheeks, squished his lips into a pout, and sniffed. "Did you swallow
it?"
Wayne licked his lips, which said it all.
Meanwhile, Jeffree started coughing, and Aimee panicked, fumbling for water. Luckily, Mia knew what to do-she scooped
Jaredap, gently fished out net
leftover Jell-O from his mouth,
patted his back, and kept a close eye on Henry. Only when he started to cry did she finally hand over the
water, making sure everything was okay.
What do you think?
