Tangled Temptations

Chapter 1

In a hotel room, dimly lit. Eloise was tightly embracing a handsome stranger, exchanging passionate kisses.noveldrama

Tonight, her ex-boyfriend Max announced his engagement, leaving her drunk as a skunk in a bar. Under the influence of alcohol and the lure of the man, Eloise followed this stranger here. After all, if Max could easily ditch a four-year relationship and dump her for a rich girl, then she could let loose for once, too. Her body, inexperienced, was tightly held by the man, at his mercy.

Just as things were about to happen, she leaned on the man's shoulder, softly whispering, "Max..." like a kitten.

All affectionate actions abruptly stopped. The door card was inserted, and the room was instantly flooded with light. In the bright light, she saw the man's face clearly.

Harvey, a top domestic lawyer, who was known in the legal circles as the toughest nut to crack. More importantly, he had another significant identity - he was Max's uncle-in-law, the man who had betrayed her.

Eloise couldn't believe she almost slept with her ex's uncle-in-law.

Harvey released her, leaning against the wall. He lit a cigarette, his expression playful as he sized her up. "Interesting... Ms. Laurent."

Clearly, Harvey recognized her too. As the ash fell from his cigarette, Harvey smiled at Eloise. His mature gaze was making Eloise's legs weak, and her heart was pounding.

He asked casually, "You know who I am, don't you? What were you thinking when you kissed me? Trying to get back at Max by sleeping with me?"

Eloise felt a bit at a loss.

Harvey was too famous, and their relationship was also complicated. If she said she didn't know him, it would be too hypocritical. But in reality, under the influence of alcohol and dim lights, the first thing she noticed was the man's waist and long legs. Knowing she couldn't offend such a big shot, Eloise could only bow her head and apologize, "I'm sorry, Mr. Horigan, I didn't mean to..."

Harvey didn't make things hard for her, so he finished his cigarette, stood straight, and tossed her a jacket. "Put this on. I'll take you home."

Eloise didn't refuse, whispering a thank you.

Harvey drove a Bentley; the ride was silent. Eloise occasionally looked at him. Harvey's profile was perfect, his facial features sharp, and his shirt didn't reveal the brand, but it was clearly very expensive. Eloise knew men like him weren't short of women.

When the car stopped, Harvey turned towards her, his gaze lingering on her slender legs for a moment, then he took out a business card from the front of the car and handed it to Eloise.

The implications were clear. Eloise didn't expect him to still want to sleep with her even after knowing her identity. Although Harvey was very attractive, and an encounter with him would surely be exciting, the thought of his identity gave Eloise the creeps. She hesitated before refusing, "Attorney Horigan, let's not keep in touch."

Harvey didn't mind. He took back his business card, and even politely nodded, saying, "A girl like you indeed suits the role of a virtuous and respectable housewife."

Eloise felt a bit embarrassed, but Harvey elegantly got out of the car to open the door for her, as if everything that happened tonight was already in the past.

The Bentley slowly drove away. When the car had gone, Eloise suddenly realized she had forgotten to return his jacket. Just as she was debating whether to go after him, her phone rang in her bag. It was Michelle from home. Her voice was filled with panic and even a hint of tears. "Eloise, come home quickly, your dad has some legal trouble!"
