Chapter 38
As time passed, Tristan continued to report about Charlie.
"I saw her at the library. She looks so serious about studying. She must be smart. Many guys look at her, but she just reads her books."
On another occasion, while they were headed out of the campus, Tristan said, "Look, that's her! She is with Luke Sullivan!"
Taylor remembered looking at Charlie then. She handed Luke a bottle of water and seemed genuinely concerned for him. Tristan said, "Luke is so lucky."
"Let's mind our own business, Tristan," Taylor said. "She seems nice, but we don't know her."
Taylor had long forgotten about Tristan's crush until the general assembly happened. Taylor put two and two together, realizing that Charlie was that girl.
He was intrigued and even more impressed to learn she was a top Business Administration student. A woman who was focused on her goals? That was something he truly admired, becuase he was that way too.
That day, Taylor also discovered Luke was the person who betrayed Charlie.
Taylor did not like Luke. To him, Luke wasn't a sport. Sure, he played mind games with Luke, but don't many players do? Was it his fault that Luke's mind was so weak?
Because there was always tension between him and Luke, Taylor thought it would be interesting to help Charlie.
Charlie had been hurt and betrayed, and on top of that, she didn't even have real friends to support her. If there was one thing he knew for sure, Luke didn't deserve the satisfaction of thinking Charlie was alone. And if making that jerk livid was something Taylor could do for his new roommate, then, by all means, he would make it count.
And the icing on top? He could get to know Charlie more.
The kiss they shared the other day wasn't something he had planned, but it changed everything. He didn't just want to look out for her. He wanted to be close to her, to hold her, to kiss her again. That one moment had flipped a switch inside him, making it impossible to ignore how much he liked her.
"It must have been Cupid," Taylor claimed. "He gave me a double dose the other day."
What was Taylor supposed to do? Dodge Cupid's arrow? The guy literally has one job! Sure, he's mythological, but it's the
lone
Santa and that did not stop people from writing him letters, baking him cookies, and straight-up lying to their kids for years. If Santa can get that level of commitment, Taylor might as well surrender to Cupid now... No one could convince him otherwise.
Focusing on Charlie again, Taylor said, "I'm sorry, Charlie. Looks like I got you tired last night."
Taylor was about to return to sleep when he thought of something. A sly grin formed on his face as he lifted Charlie's head. He carefully rested her on his bare chest.
Taylor usually slept shirtless, so he thought it was perfect for Charlie to wake up to view his ultimate weapon. No, not his dick, but his toned body.
Next, Taylor removed the plushie Charlie was holding on so tightly. He guided her left arm around his waist and slowly adjusted her frame to face him completely.
After positioning Charlie to his
preference, he smirked and joked "Charlie, What are you doing? Are
you making a pillow out of me? Stop it. Fine. I give up. Damn, you are a strong woman!"
He chuckled and stroked her soft golden curls. He said, "Well, I guess I have to make up for keeping you awake last night."
Taylor pecked her forehead and said, "Sleep tight, Charlie."
Taylor would typically wake up early, even on a weekend, but he allowed himself
to sleep in on a Saturday morning. He slept so soundly with Charlie in his arms.
While he was at rest, he was somewhat conscious of Charlie's movement. His right arm often held her back, keeping her where he wanted her to be.
At around ten, Taylor was fully awake, but sleeping beauty was still getting comfortable on his chest. He stayed silent, simply watching her and running his fingers through her soft hair.
Half an hour later, Charlie woke up.

When she stared at him, he smirked and said, "Charlie? Wow, when did you board this flight? Because are latched onto me like turbulence. I thought I wasn't your type. So,
who's really taking advantage of who here?"
He had already imagined how Charlie would react. He thought she would blush
and run away, but her reaction was not quite what he expected.noveldrama
