The Beta’s Regret

Chapter 265

My heart broke into tiny little pieces as I watched Ryker suspended in such an agonizing state.

How was this even possible, to treat a powerful hybrid in such a manner. I had always known King Pison could be evil, but I never imagined it would get to this level.

I felt tears slip down my face, and I quickly wiped it off with the back of my hand.

This was the peak of evil. They were nothing short of monsters. My resolve to take Pison out grew stronger.

An image of what Ryker had been before now flashed through my mind and I swallowed hard. Ryker who had always been full of life has been reduced to nothing but a mere shadow of himself.

His body was battered beyond recognition, the bruises on his skin were fresh and looked extremely painful. All hope that I could save my people from King Pison's torture began to evaporate like smoke...

King Pison and his men were past being wicked. They were demons. It would be no surprise if Hades himself had possessed King Pison, considering the kind of things he was doing.

It was clear that King Pison derived pleasure from people's pain, and it was sickening. My skin crawled in disgust.

I knew I had to do something, anything to save Ryker, Adonis and others.

I studied the iron pipes that were attached to Ryker, it looked like they were connected to a source. I followed the trail of iron pipes that snaked through the darkened corridors of the dungeon. Finally, I saw a large Iron box where all the iron pipes were connected to.

The source.

I took a step closer, and my stomach immediately churned in disgust.noveldrama

Wolfsbane.

My eyes widened. That was what King Pison was putting into Ryker?

My eyes widened, the acidic smell of the poison wafted through my nose and I scrunch my nose. They were doing their best to kill Ryker in the most evil way possible.

For what reason?

I stayed still, rooted to the ground.

I suddenly snapped out of it when I heard faint sounds coming from the entrance.

"We need to hide." Tiara said quickly. "We need to move away from here. Someone is coming." She said,

I looked around, looking for a place I could hide so that they wouldn't see me easily. There was none, except for the space beside the box of wolfsbane.

I didn't think much about it, and I dived into the shadows at the same time the rogue entered the dungeon. I stayed glued to the world and held my breath, tightening my coat around Lily and I to lessen the acidic smell of the wolfsbane. The rogue who perceived the Crowberries entered, his face etched into a tight frown, his gaze fixed forward. His lips moved rapidly on a low grumble.

"All they ever say is that I'm no good. I'm nothing to them but just a stupid pup... And so, they wouldn't let me catch the intruders with them, He huffed and threw an angry fists

against the wall.

I watched for a moment as the rogue poured out his frustration and fury. He moved deeper into the dungeon.

"What are looking at you dumbwit?"he barked out at some of the prisoners that scrambled to a corner in fright.

I needed to escape from here. I was beginning to feel the effect of the wolfsbane and I knew that if I stayed longer here, it was only a matter of time before

becomes harmful to Lily.

Thankfully, the rogue moved away from where I was and seeing it as an opportunity, I quickly slipped away from the dungeon into the dark corridors of the palace, my heart raced as I moved. Lily had fallen asleep.

Soon, I entered a more busy part of the palace. I saw maids headed in different directions of the palace, and I followed two of them who held royal apparels in their hands. The king's garment.

That would mean they were going to Pison's chambers. I followed.

There were so many hallways attached to the one we took, and I tried hard not to lose them or allow them to notice that I was right behind them.

They took another turn down the hallway deeper into the palace, and finally, they came to a stop in front of a double door.

I shivered, the aura that surrounded the chamber was cold, and dreadful. It was almost as if you could taste death in the air.

They knocked on the door and waited for a moment before they stepped in. I followed. The maids took no notice of me as I slipped in behind them.

The maids went deeper into the room to the bathroom while I slipped in behind the closest curtain I found. From behind it, I could see the outlay of the chamber. This part was some sort of open area that led to the bath and also the inner

chamber.

It wasn't long before King Pison made his way out of the inner chambers, a towel cinched at his waist.

The maids worked quickly, running to stand before him as they gave a slight bow and gestured to the bathtub. I almost rolled my eyes.

It was obvious they were all scared to death.

Suddenly, he stopped, and wore a wicked smirk on his face before he barked loudly "Leave, everyone!"

He didn't have to say it twice. In the blink of an eye, the maids scurried out of the room.

I frowned. Was he going to take his bath himself?

My eyes widened in surprise when

Pison turned in the direction I was

hidden with open arms. He

unhooked his towel and allowed it to fall to a pool at his feet. I closed my eyes quickly in disgust.

"Welcome Eden." He said with a sick smile.

How did he know I was here?
